Celebrating the woman phenomenon is an endless one. in this episode i had the honour of discussing with someone who loves music. her name is NK Maduforo.
NK Maduforo is an international recording artist who creatively communicates God’s love through her lyrics, music and visuals. She’s often described as an innovative artist leading the new generation of gospel artists who have crossover appeal. In 2020, she was named one of the ‘100 Most influential people in Christian ministry in Nigeria’ by YNaija.
NK Maduforo started writing songs and singing from her primary school days having grown up in a home laced with vinyl records and music from all genres which her father collected.
Growing up in the 80s, NK was particularly drawn to the pop sound which filled the airwaves in those days.
NK made a commitment to a personal relationship with God in her teens which further influenced her music. She would spend endless hours reading the words of hymns set in the Ancient and Modern hymn book and making up her own tune for them. She started expressing her music publicly by singing special numbers in churches sometimes accompanied by her friend/friends learning to harmonise in the process.
The richness of lyrical content of hymns influenced her as well as the lyric-heavy content of music in the 80s and 90s. She also liked the poetic nature of hymns and the use of rhymes which often show up in her own work.
NK Maduforo has independently recorded two EPs; Rock My World and Fortified which is available in digital stores. Her first music video was released in November 2019 for the song titled ‘Brand New’. It received good reviews and has ramped up a lot of views in YouTube with its catchy visuals combined with an equally catch tune. It was followed in quick succession by the release of the music video for ‘No More Broken’ which captures her story and that of many others who have dealt with the guilt and shame of the past.
She coaches aspiring singers who want to take it to the next level of their music career by releasing singles or albums.
In addition to being a recording artist, NK Maduforo is an active member of the Choir in her local assembly and a Worship leader, Songwriter, Playlist Curator and Creativity Coach who is passionate about inspiring people to connect to their true creative self and see themselves through the Creator’s eyes.
As a marriage Coach and counsellor, NK Maduforo enriches marriages hosting the weekly Talkshow ‘How To Get Married And Stay Married’ via her YouTube channel where she has real conversations with real guests broaching subjects that are not usually addressed from the pulpit. She has recently begun speaking on ‘purity’ but not in the way it has been addressed in ages past. She focuses on Purity of heart, intentions, pursuits and marriage bed purity building on the word in Matthew 5 v 8 ‘Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God’.
