The Word Café Podcast with Amax
My unique message to the world is the power behind the words of our mouths. We have made light of it but cannot escape the fruits thereof. For me, words are the unit of creation, the building block on which our existence evolves. This podcast is for everyone who wants to better their living by using words and applying themselves wisely. I will be using the storytelling style fused with imaginative nuances to transport the listener to that place, where possibilities are not luxuries but everyday experiences; movie in voice.
This podcast will emphasize the power of routine, and what you repeatedly do, you most likely build capacity and expertise for what you repeatedly do. My podcast will help the listener learn how to practice success because the same amount of time you use in complaining is the same you can use to plant, build, prune, etc. I intend to draw the listener's attention to the power of their words.

S4 Ep. 280 The 1% Theory Of Growth
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Everybody wants to make it big, but most of us quietly hope it happens without the grind. I’m sharing a simple idea that cuts through information overload and gets straight to what actually creates results: the 1% theory, the habit of giving a small, consistent slice of your day to the thing you say matters most.
I start with a true-to-life moment from a neighborhood shop where “Making It Big” by Femi Oteola is stacked everywhere. I decide to run a small social experiment, come back a week later, and the books are gone. That one scene sparks a bigger question: if so many people are hungry for success, why do so few people stick with the daily work that produces it? We talk about why you don’t need new information to scale, you need the discipline to apply what you already know.
Then we get practical. I break down compounding growth with a paper-folding example that makes the concept impossible to forget: repeat the same small action and your capacity multiplies. If you’ve been tempted to abandon what you started because it feels like nothing is happening, this is your reminder that consistency builds momentum even before it becomes visible.
If this message helps you, subscribe, share it with someone who needs the push, and leave a review. What’s your 1% today?

Welcome And Setting The Space
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep, yep, yep. Why did I scream? Or why did I say that? Just to get myself in the mood. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good everything. Wherever you are, uh-huh, on the surface of the earth, listening to me and seeing me. How are you? Yep, I will ask that question. I will, because it feels me. I'm good where I am, very good. Um, always fun, you know, coming into this space. You know, this is the space where we come in to lean on one another's experience to forge a positive path. It gives me so much joy each time I come in here. It excites me, I must say. Something happened recently. Yes, I will talk about that, then I will go into why what we'll be talking about today. His name is Femi Oteola. I usually mix up the name. Something happened recently. He wrote a book, Making It Big. Ah, you must have heard about it, you must have seen it. So I walked into a shop, a neighborhood shop. The books were stacked everywhere, everywhere, I mean, along with teal, the cashier points, and what have you. So I said, okay, I'm going to do, carry out a social experiment. I'll give myself a week. I'll come back to see if I wanted to buy the book, honestly. It was there looking at me. I had money. And I said, I'm going to carry out an experiment. A social experiment. Let me see in a week's time when I come back if these books will still be here. In any case, I'll stay by. So I went back to that same shop. A week later, they were all gone. And I was like, okay, gone. And I asked the book section, the guy that was attending to customers, and I said, What about those books? He said, ah, we're out of stock. And uh we will restock. You can come back XYZ and all of that. I said, okay. I went back, as he said. I said, you told me to come back on this particular day. He said, we're still expecting. So I said, so everybody wants to make it big. Everybody. So Fermi or Tedola is now a bestseller making it big. It brings me to what I want to talk about today. The one percent, the theory of the one percent. Our world, the world we live in, is amassed and washed, submerged in information. My wife will call it information overload. But I've come to step back a little and realize that you don't need new information. You don't need new information to scale. But you need the discipline of the information you already have to scale. So you come to realize that a lot of us will look at successful people. By the way, if you if you bought that book, uh making it big, amazing. Because one thing I've come to realize about books, or when people write books about their success, it reveals who they really are. Writing exposes who you are. No matter how much you try to hide it, it reveals it. Even if you want to use a pseudonym or whatever, you know, it reveals who you truly are. So when you pick a book on, say, the audacity of hope, I think that was written by Obama. It tells you who Obama really is. When you read about, if you want to read about Trump, if you want to know who he really is, pick up the book, Trump. You'll be amazed because that is the content of the within the container called put your name there, Trump or whatever. So it is not about amassing new information, as it were, but rather disciplining yourself on what you already know. Yep. The 1% theory. I think there's a book on the 1%, the lot of 1% and all that. So you wake up every morning, you give 1% to something, you give 1% to that thing, you give 1%, you keep doing that daily and over time. Imagine if you do 1% for, say, every day in a month. How many percent is that? 30 or 28, as the case may be. So if you do 1% every day for a year, 365 multiplied by one, do the math. Now look at it in not arithmetic progression now, but you look at it from a geometric progression. So let me show you something. Pick up a piece of paper. Can I get a piece of paper? A plain sheet. Okay, pick it up. I wish I had one on set with me. You know, sometimes when I'm talking, when I'm sharing, things happen spontaneously. Now, fold it. Okay, you've done that. Now open it. What do you have? Two. You've divided into two, correct? One, one. That's it. Two. Now, fold it again and fold it again. When you open it, what do you have? One, two, three, four. Correct? It's one sheet. But you have one, two, three, four. Now fold it back again. Fold it again. Open it. What do you have? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Fold it again, fold it again. Open it. What do you have? 16. That is the power of 1%. When you discipline yourself. Let's try it again. A plain sheet of paper, maybe A5 or whatever. Plain sheet. Yes, photocopying paper. You fold it. What do you see? You have one sheet now, two sides. Correct? All right. Now fold it again. Then fold it again. What do you have? Four in one. That's what you have. Now fold it again and again and again and again. Open it again. What do you have? The four turns into eight. The eight turns into sixteen. The sixteen turns into so that is the duplication or multiplication. That's the power of one. You see? You keep at it. You're developing capacity. You're developing uh, would I call it authority, you're developing these bees. You're not searching, as it were, for something new, you're only practicing what you already have. And that is it. So you come to see that always, all the time, look around you, the 1% always lead. Why? Because of what I just explained to you. So it's it's not it's not, it's enough. I understand. You get in the material, you and all that, but it is the power of practicing it, putting it into work. Sometimes you feel that what you're doing is amounting to nothing. That's not true. It is not true. To you, it may seem like nothing is happening. No, but the law of productivity, the law of regeneration, it's in place. As you continue, you keep hitting it, you keep hitting it, you keep hitting it. Before you know it, wow, it's working. Yes. That is the power of one. So how are you gonna how are you gonna do now? I mean, what are you gonna do now? I beg your pardon. How are you gonna go about that thing you started? Mm-hmm. What what what exactly are you gonna do? Will you just pack it up and put it somewhere? Abandon it, relegate it, or would you dust it and say, Yes, I will keep at it. I will keep going. I will keep moving. I will keep keeping on. And before you know it, the power of one, it opens up to you. You have built a whole, a whole universe of solution, a whole universe of content, a whole universe of what I call it, answers that you now become someone being sought after. They said a word is a what is what? Enough for the wise. The wise doesn't need so much, just few. All right, guys. Uh, it's always fun coming into this space. Yes, it is, and sharing moments like this with you. Uh looking back even for my own journey, the practice of the 1%. That is it. All right, guys.
