How's it been? So lovely to be here. Um, first, yeah, I have seen uh this the world cafe um grow, evolve first from those quiet moments we had right back at the University of Potako. Yeah. And of course, we knew the world had to hear some of the profound thoughts pattern that God has placed on your inside. I'm glad that this platform has been made available. You have given of yourself. Because it takes a bit of vulnerability to do things like that. Yes, it does. Because there you are, week after week. I don't know how often this is, just spilling out of your essence, but hoping that Christ and the essence of God is being transmitted to all. So, well done, sir.

Thank you. So, guys, let me give you an insight. So, back in school, yes, school, way back, we were together in school, we served uh in Ninthest, Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students. I mean, Jude, how do I describe him? He has his hunger, you know. When he came into leadership, I was in the leadership a year or two before he joined, and we're moving on to other, would I say, not higher calling now, but something within the zone and all of that. And he came on. But from year one, from basic to be precise, because he did the basic program before coming in. From basic year one, we all of us can see the hunger, we can see the test, the passion. And when he came into leadership, I remember his leadership himself. Um, what was his name now? Your vice president. Ernesto Nuibo. Ernest Nuibo, your secondary IMA Adele, and the rest of them. And all these names, if you go Google them down, they are all handling one leadership position or the other, globally speaking. So it's amazing seeing what God is using him to do today. I am super excited. Honestly, I am. So I'm gonna do your words. Thank you so much. You're welcome.

Building A System For Growth

Thank you. I'm gonna start from the U version. I know when you were when for those of us who don't know U version, it's a Bible app. Yep. Yeah, I think UVersion became so powerful during the COVID years, I think so. I'm not mistaken, but it's been there before. I know, but it became powerful because the world was in darkness. People were looking for answers. Answers, and UVersion became a very good platform. And somehow you are big on UVersion now. I will allow you to tell my audience your story about UVersion. First, thank you.

I like the the journey you took into retrospect on how the Lord formed us in those formative years on campus. Um, I actually got into school as a teenager. And as a young teenager, I had just gotten um saved, right? Um two years prior to coming to school into school. And just so we were we had a lot of questions, and then the Christian Union or CU NIFES, or how it's referred, Nigerian Philip, was like an oasis for us. We saw like-passion people like yourself, Bishop Prosper, Isit, and if you all it's just seeking God. And for me, it was such a it was so so much bliss. You know, we could look and learn, and the Lord helped us to journey. Convictions were formed then, habits were built. And one of the basic habits that we came into then was this understanding that the Christian growth is systematic. You do not, it you are born again, you you but transformation is a process. Yes. So do not be conformed to this word, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. So so man is a three-party being. You have you're made up of you are you're predominantly spirit, you possess a soul, and you both live in a both live in a body, right? Your body is what gives you the legal the legality to be here on earth. And and and your your spirit is changed, is switched, it's not repaired. Christ, this you the spirit you were born with, which is a fallen spirit, is taken off you at salvation, and then Christ, you say it's no longer either lives. Christ lives in me. However, your soul, which is your seat of reasoning, your seat of learning, your seat of intellect, your seat of emotions, right, it still has every information that you have since when you were born, right? And so there's a transformation that is required at the point of salvation.

That can only come by systematic, it's it's like it's like a programming, it's like a systematic growth in God. And and so we were introduced into studying the Bible using devotionals. I remember every day with Jesus, selling books, you know, um, daily bread, our daily bread, and mana. Yeah, daily things like that. You know, over time, I I found the rhythm of studying the Bible. You know, you go to the gospels, you go to the canonical books, and and you tread them together. And it came easy by the help of the Holy Spirit. But when I began to interface with other believers in discipleship, I found it wasn't something that was that came to everybody that that easily. So we began to pencil down our thoughts and we used it for different mentorship groups. You used to talk to your mentees, and people are just asking you for a reading plan. You say, you know what, this is where you are at. You can start with the epistles, you can read the gospels, and those recommendations over time we began to just sort of put them. But it ended up on our laptops. Yeah. Fast forward to when first at Carpentist Church, yeah, with Pastor Nkeshir and Blessed Memory and Pastor Charles Somorfuma, we had responsibilities with teenagers in the teen church.

We began to bring these materials as an adjunct materials to other things we were using, talking to little teenage groups, right? And then, of course, you know, you grew from precept to precept, known to online. Yeah, line up online. Uh we could we we grew into becoming into the ministry, we're ordained as pastors. And of course, every leader, you lick what you carry. True. It is what is on your inside that you can give. Peter was at the beautiful gate. He said to the blind, the lame guy, he said, silver or gold, I do not possess right now. But there's something I have. Yeah. It's virtue that can be converted to healing. Yep. So in the name of Jesus, rise up and work. So as leaders, when people then come to us during times of fast, like you said, COVID was a very defining moment for the body of Christ. So people were looking for answers. Yeah. And so we had, we started little discipleship groups, just generally helping the world navigate through those dark, seemingly dark times.

And that's how we began to make our devotionals. Uh these are personal written notes, uh, sermon notes, study, personal retreats. You go on periodic retreats, the Lord says these things, you get fresh things, and you put them down, right? And then we began to fuse them together, put it out there in public. Fast forward to last year, 2025,

Turning Notes Into YouVersion Plans

UVersion was coming to Africa. They reached out to a few of us. By the recommendation of a friend, just Revenor Sinokbora. He said, I know a guy, he writes quite well. So have a chat with him. And I mean, I remember the first conversation with the UV version rep, and I said to him, I have a dump actually. I just sent to you guys. But when he said, Come to me, I said, Well, this is a global opportunity. So I put a team on my I put a team together and I said, you know what, edit this work and just make them known. Man of God, the first set of devotionals we published with like six, six of them. Within two weeks, they were in 132 countries of the world. I had never known that a technological tool could be such, should have such potency in the spread of God's word. And since then I've been very committed to it. We have over 64 devotionals right now.

64. Yeah. That's amazing. So that that that story, you know, points to faithfulness, you being consistent. You're not you're not doing it. You were not doing it because you wanted to stand somewhere for everybody to see that I'm doing this. Not at all. This was a what I call it a secret between you and God. And God in his own infinite mercy and wisdom is like, it's time for me to take these things I have deposited in you to give to the world for them to see and learn and tap from. Because when the, I think it's from Pakistan or so, the the man and his the missionary and his wife talking about, speak to that. Absolutely.

So, I mean, you know, I spoke to how these devotionals just went, you know, you know, wild. I mean, the the team told us from that they found it, they found a thread, a consistency, where people read one and they want to read the next multiple of from the same author. You know, and they even asked us, whatever you're doing, keep doing it, you're doing something right. And then we got we got we we get regular emails that people say, you know, I found part A of this, where is part B and all of that. Administrative questions. We get testimonies. Oh, I found this quite useful. I was in a very dark season, and then there's one particular one, the door of hope. I never understood how much the world was in need of a glimmer of hope, right? Uh a message of hope until that devotional, you know, was um was premiered. It was, it just, it just most people found our devotionals based on that devotional. Um, we had about 20,000 subscribers in one day from the US only. It was interesting, really. So then from Pakistan, this guy writes to say, hey, Pastor Jude, I'm a young missionary, I'd walked all over the world, but the Lord has sent me back to my people, the Udi people, one of the biggest tribes uh in Pakistan. And we have millions and millions of people hungry for God and revival. So I started beyond my podcast and um teleevangelism and revival ministry. My my wife and he's in his early 30s, his wife is in the late 20s, very young couple. We decided to start a church. But one of the gaps we've been having the doctrinal materials to sort of disciple uh our folks in church. And we stumbled across your devotionals as brief as they are, because some of them are seven-day devotionals, five-day devotionals. So they're not like long materials. Sometimes we have part one, part two, just one study. You have to break it into several parts so you can fit the word count on the devotional. Then again, about the attention span of a generation. So, but he had compiled everything and fused them into discipline materials and was writing to us for permission to translate our materials to the UDI language. And he did for one of our materials, he just translated one where he knew he was in for something profound. He translated one devotional into the UDI language in it, what is it called, with God in two minutes. And he said he got 300,000 views within 24 hours on TikTok only. And for him, he just felt, you know what? I I just need to get in in touch with this man. And I mean, for me, the question they have been asking, when are you coming to Pakistan? We will soon. So, so I mean, so it's not she's influenced not just in Pakistan, India, most of those areas.

Yeah, that's the, you know, and and and for us, it's just such real world. I mean, this is amazing. So, for those of us who think that Nigeria has a problem, then we have a solution. Yeah. I'm telling my audience that now we have a solution. I always believe it. I I say it in certain uh quarters, the earth will be boring without Nigeria. Seriously. Seriously, the earth will be boring without Nigeria. And this is from Nigeria. I'm not saying this like bragging right, but to tell you that we have answers, we have solutions in the body of Christ. Absolutely. You can imagine what you version from Nigeria, Lagos, Nigeria, Uniport, Nigeria, Delta State, Nigeria. Yeah. What it is it has become. That's to point to that word, the prophetic word that went years ago about this country. Absolutely. Yes. And I and I'm I'm not just proud, I'm happy. Proud doesn't caught it. I'm grateful, I'm excited. Because you version, I use you version. Yeah, I do.

Interestingly, I do. Yeah. Because everybody needs the discipline of, you know, we're in a fast-paced word. Everybody needs the discipline of, you know. So what I do, I set multiple reminders. It's time to pray. Yep. It's time to study. True. I mean, you it's a nozzle rhyme, read your Bible, pray every day. If you want to grow, you know, God's method has not changed. It hasn't. It's as basic as that.

A little here, a little there. Line. And you are growing. You wouldn't see the growth, but as you notice that the things that would normally put you under pressure, you're no longer responding to.

Servant Leadership That Shapes You

Now let's talk about uh associate pastor. You've been a pastor anyway. You've been in that frame, like what you do way back from school and all that leading. You were president, you led, I think for two, almost two tenures. Two ten years, exactly. And Uniport is there to prove, to show for it. For those of you zone. Yes, you went up to the zone. Rivers, IBA State, and Mayasa. Then later, it came down to Rivers and Mayasa. Yes. IBIA was moved out. And all the major schools. Absolutely. Absolutely. So imagine the coverage, traveling, and all that.

So our it's not every ministry life actually started just as um as uh students on campus. Yes. Right. Because it's one thing to preach the word, it's another thing to enter your pairs. Right. It takes a level of God has to really amplify or magnify your person before you before their eyes. And you know, Apostle Paul's telling Timothy, say, Do not let anyone look down on you because you're young. Um, I mean the old the old language, King James will say, Let no man despise your youth, right? Yeah, he said, but be an example of the believers in in faith, in conduct, in the word. So God used those days to really, really shape our leadership. And you know, we're taught servant leadership. Yep. Um, Jesus' pattern of if you want to be the leader, you would take up the napkin, stoop down, and watch the feet of those who you are leading. Uh I hear a lot of a different model out there today where people are saying, put yourself out there, you know. Um people, you know, sort of imposing leadership. But we we were trained the other way. The other way around. Right? Service servant leadership where you serve, and there your true essence is seen. And some people think you'll be taking advantage of, but that's not been our experience. Because the more you give, what it does is that the things that others covert or posture for, it just comes to you naturally. And that's how I think we came to the responsibility of serving under my principal, um, Dr. Toni Rappu. Yeah. I mean, I just wanted a regular church to worship. And um, no man takes this honor to himself. No man. You know, in 2011, walked into the ministry, introduced myself. I was sent by Pastor Charles O'Morfoma, who had who had recommended the church, and and he accepted us. But you know, we dropped everything we had learned, we dropped every um man of God tendency, and we went back to the school of learning. I went back to discipleship class like a new believer there at this present house. The idea is, you know, let's let he that thinks his stance take it, right? Because when God sent us to um Pastorapu, he said I was going to take you to a place where you are going to unlearn and relearn. So it was a humbling process, but was good. It was not good for the soul, the ego, all of that, but was good for the spirit. You subjected yourself, you saw life from different lines. You saw I saw ministry from a different perspective. I saw the combination between priesthood and kingship. It was a dimension I had never seen before. Uh, I saw someone who was strong in the marketplace and was raising kings. So it was a governing, it was a governing territorial church where people there were being raised to speak to the enemy at the gates. So little wonder in his watch, you've seen him, he had mentored at one time, vice president of the nation, many ministers, you know. So learning under him was a different experience entirely. But then the basic foundation we got of servant leadership then made us to stand out. If you know what I mean. I do. Yeah. I do. So the combination of service and the knowledge of God's word that brings out both the priesthood and the kingship in you. Yeah. It was just a matter of time.

Balancing Ministry Marriage Work

sir. How do you balance this? Because I see you you have this uh platform or what I call it an event now or platform future of power. Future of power. Yes, uh, future of power Africa. How do you blend, how do you balance all of this? So basically, that thank you so much for that question.

That's a question we get all the time. You run three businesses, you're pastor, a metropolitan church, um in Lagos, fast-based city, you're married, you have two kids, teenagers. How do you balance parenting? Being a husband, being an entrepreneur in the marketplace, being a priest. Um first no no money is sufficient in yourself, so it's the help of the Holy Spirit. And that's not me being humble, that's just a fact. The truth. Yes, the lot the the the Bible says Jesus came out of the the the pool and the spirit of God came upon him and said, This is my beloved son, Roman Well, please listen to him. Then but his spirit drove him to the wilderness where he learned, he he fasted, he capacity was built. So it's a combination of the grace of God and then the capacity that had been built over the years. So for the most part, when we're serving in these places, it was stretching our capacity. So on campus, we were both students and some form of clergy, but not the kind that wanted people to carry their bag. No. We rather Will serve others, right? Um so already you're wearing two hearts as a young person. You're already beginning to be to multitask in that direction. So you're serving your pairs, you're encouraging others. The same exam you're about to take, they are taking. They are afraid, and then you're encouraging them. You finish from church and then you carry your books, go to class and read all night. So there's always the extra mile principle where you know that you have to stay ahead of those who you're leading because the less is blessed of the better. It's always, uh, as a matter of fact, you if you have nothing to give, it's a matter of time. People will know you are empty. So the balance is building capacity consistently. The balance is the consistent basic of just of continuous improvement. You are seeking to know God better. You mentioned something about hunger. You shouldn't get to the point where you know you think you know God completely, that you don't need to know him anymore. So it's the continuous press to know him better. Now, everything you do for people now is an outworking of your experience with God. True. So I tell people, I do not necessarily study to preach. Of course, when you have a sermon, you probably would look through a few things, reference or materials, so you can piece it together. But if the subject you're about to speak to is the first time you are hearing about it as you're about to speak to it, you're not qualified to speak to it. You should have learnt it, lived it, made your mistakes, corrected them. That gives you then the pre-qualification to speak on any subject. So my point being, you the ministry is an outworking of living a life for God. So I've I'm first primarily a child of God. My marriage is an outworking of my fear and loyalty to God. Because in my marriage, it's a it's a tri it's a tripartite arrangement. God, my spouse, myself. So someone asks me 16 years, what's been your motivation? Faithfulness. I said, because I answer to God. Yeah. If it's just my wife, there are times she's made me very angry. So that it's not just the vow I took. What I took before her is the vow I took before God. So that my outworking of being a good husband is a function of my per my relationship with God. Same thing to parenting. You can't give what you don't have. Same thing. You leak what you have. Same thing in leadership and in in in in and then marketplace. I speak to marketplace for a bit.

Why Nigeria Can Power West Africa

We've always had a passion to make a difference. And I I I will be a bit, I'll be a bit um nationalistic now. I believe in the Nigerian dream. I believe so much. I, okay, so my niche, my first degree is electrical engineering, and then of course went to business school and did all of that. In my core area, we have no business being where we are in terms of power generation, distribution, and transmission, right? Absolutely. So in there, we see an opportunity. Yeah. An opportunity to create a fresh narrative based on how Nigeria is blessed. You see, my tone has inflexed. It means that I'm passionate about this. Based on how Nigeria is blessed, both under the ground, surface of the ground, environmentally, above, sunlight, wind, water, gas. We have a gas reserve that can power Africa for God knows how many, how many more decades to come. Absolutely. Right? Absolutely. So as it is, Nigeria can be the power hub for the whole of at least West Africa. We're already doing that in a sense. There are countries who are providing 95% availability of power too. Right? Right. With data. So that passion drives us, the passion to see a better Nigeria.

We bring the excellence and ethics that we have thought in the kingdom of God, and we bring it into the marketplace. The idea is to show people that things can be done the right way. And it may take a while because you're going against the grain. You're going against the tide. It takes a while. But you see, consistency, faith, patience, we will get to the point where we have a critical mass of us who believe that things can be done the right way. That's our drive in the marketplace.

Amazing. I like that when when I see Nigerians who believe in Nigeria against all odds, ah, the odds are against us. But don't worry. When we gather ourselves to grow that critical mass and we begin to push back the right way, the future will be blessed. The future will thank us that you did not give up. And I like that looking at it from the lens of the church. So it's not just about the four walls, it's not just about that building. But it's like going in there, soaking up those juices from God's presence, and you go into the marketplace, you go into the society, and like you said, you give off. It sounds like a movie title. I think it's the movie of our life. Exactly. I mean, if we should adapt it into a movie or something.

Forgiven As An Identity Book

Let's think about your book, Forgiven. I I know it's a fall-off, like you said, from your walk with God. But what inspired this book?

SPEAKER_01 28:43

Thank you so much. I'll keep this very, very brief. I'm a product of God's mercy. You know, I said I got born again just two years before I got into university. Generally, we were raised in a very modest home where they they train you to respect people, do what is right, morality and all. But as a young adult, or getting into adulthood, I found out that morality and self-will was not good enough to keep one from the tendencies, natural tendencies of man, selfishness. Um you I mean, the fallen man is naturally cruel. Once you're selfish, you put yourself before others. And it's sometimes in a very negative sense. Negative sense. We had tendencies, I had a bad temper issue. It was bad. Um and and and a whole lot. Then we were seeking for answers. Religion didn't quite do it, right? Religion, which is the act of going to a place to worship without understanding exactly what you're worshiping. Eventually, we we we we had an encounter with Christ and salvation was birthed. I was 16 then. And that journey started. There was such a sharp contrast with the presence of Christ and then the Holy Spirit, such that things that one had struggled with, even with self we promising here and there, couldn't break. It was just easy to walk into liberation. And one got a redefinition of one's destiny. So I I mean, born into an average family, parents and humble people. But then coming into God, he began to give us a definition of the destiny that he had designed for us. And it looked huge, man of God. I still were wondering. So, not just the gift of salvation, the Lord began to redefine an identity that we we we thought was nowhere near us. I mean, I'm gonna write a book, I'm working on the book, I'd promised a lot of people. It's called Nylon Boys. So at some point I saw the nylon, I sold nylon bag in a local market, right? So no one me, engineer, me travel the world representing both marketplace and God. Those were those were things that you couldn't even conceive. You know, growing up in a local town called Agbo in Delta State. You couldn't conceive it. It was just like dreams that you could only, you could only imagine because we read books and saw movies. But then God said, That's you. You're going to become this, you're going to be my mouthpiece. I was so shy before I got saved that I could not stand to engage my mates. And he said, You're going to represent me. I'm going to make you so give you a gift of words. Like me that I can't even communicate with my friends. I've come back from birthday parties crying because they forced me to dance. You know, you know, so it was that's how insular I was as a person. But I mean the Holy Ghost came, it just switched everything. Yeah. You know, and and and so over the last um 20 years, uh, I've seen people struggle with their identity. So it's either they are stuck in the mistake they've made, or they're stuck in the past where they've been, or they're defined by their background. They feel they can never become anything above anybody in their family's way. But in engaging them, this book answers the fact that the earlier part is do not look back. You're not your past. You're not your mistakes, you're not your background. As funny as that sounds, is nobody in this family has become something you, you might just be the change they were waiting for. Then somebody asks me, then who am I? You are who God says you are. So absolutely, this book is actually a book on identity. Okay. It's good for existing believers, it's good for believers, people who have never even known God, never known. I mean, any person of any religious inkling can grab it and read and just get the insight. It spreads the message of hope, the message of every the fact that everybody's got a chance in God. Nobody is a write-off, nobody is irreparable. True. The Lord has actually asked us to take the book to the prisons, take it to rehabilitation centers. You know, people who have made mistakes that feel that, you know, people that some of them society and family have already given up on. Nobody is irreparable. Nobody is be damaged beyond the reach of the love of God. And then the closing part then speaks to the you becoming, having received that forgiveness and your identity being redefined, you become an ambassador of hope. You're easily forgiving others and spreading the message of forgiveness. So the world then becomes a better place when we all have made room to accommodate each other.

Amazing. Guys, uh uh, you know I'm a lover of words. You know, I'm big on words, I'm big on books, I'm big on. So what really made me call him for us to sit to do this is just to let you know that books are good. Um, in the marketplace, we we have brought up a lot of initiatives so that it's one thing to have companies and you are creating value, you're unlocking value, creating wealth, both for kingdom and for and for self-mission. But we want to start this conversation in the marketplace, and that's what part of what the platform, the future of power Africa. Now, sometimes people feel it's just about power. And no, it's not exactly. We're just reshaping the narrative about possibilities. Possibilities. Because a lot of people have seen, seen, there's been a lot of negative press about this nation.

And and every nation has what it's dealing with. And in all fairness to everyone, we are all responsible. I tell people that our leadership is a sample size of who we really are, right? Because our leaders were not brought, they were not aliens, they were chosen from amongst us. So if we do, it's an average of who we are, right? So the the correction of the trajectory of the nation begins with us. So for us, we therefore have created an enclave within our sector to speak. We bring tough leadership, we we host conferences, and then we speak. We've done, we've done, we started the future of power africa started two years ago. And last year last year, 2025, we had um uh amazing event. This year, early this year, we also had a round table where we bring stakeholders and we're talking about stakeholders, regulators. We we're talking, we choose a niche, and we're just um dissecting the possibilities within that area. And our last was on the power sector. Okay. And we brought member representative from Federal Ministry of Power and all of that. And then we're showing the young entrepreneurs the possibility, the horizon of hope that this is a possible pathway to follow. And we have other mentoring subgroups from there. That's in the marketplace. Ministry, of course, um, a lot is happening within the sphere where I, sphere of my office, and working with my principal. A lot, a lot we're working on. And for the book, forgiven, we're we are taking it on the road. I'm here in Abuja, sitting with you, lovely people, we're going to the various cities in the world, just from the US to the just so we have reviews of the book. Currently, we're working on four new materials. Okay. One is on prayer, the other is on parenting. These are areas where parenting is one area where, you know, passing the torch, uh, where people are struggling. How do I how do we raise the next generation to be as passionate or even more passionate about us, uh, about excellence than us and all of that? So another, another, I mean, so there are four new materials we're working on, and in due course, you hear more. And then, of course, the on-purpose podcast. Yeah, you should be our guest one of these days. Go ahead. We're bringing you to Lagos. Not a problem. Bring you to our on-purpose studio, and we're gonna share such an amazing time with you. So every day, it is about improving humanity, yeah, carrying out God's mission and living our best life for him.

Because if it comes really that quick, it's flicky. Yes. It doesn't have depth. No. Everything with depth is built in secrecy and obscurity. Don't be in a hurry to want to manifest. I remember a few years after we left school, um, some of my friends who were already doing well in the United States, either in ministry, they'll come and say, ah, there were prophetic words over your life. What are you doing now? You know, are you and you know, I'll go back feeling a bit sad at first, like maybe I'm not, maybe I miss something. But the Holy Spirit will say it's time and chance happens to them all. Keep at it. Yeah. It's just a matter of who called you, I called you. They didn't call you. They didn't call you.
