S5 Ep. 297 God Gives The Increase

You can work hard, build skill, and do all the right “business” things and still feel stuck on one question: how do we actually increase? We take that question head-on and reframe it through a faith-based business lens that is both practical and uncomfortable. Yes, we believe in strategy, consistency, and craft. But we also believe there’s a line where hustle turns into pressure, and pressure turns into shortcuts.

We break down the principle of increase using the simple picture of planting and watering. Planting is the builder’s work: planning, technique, detail, and a blueprint you can repeat. Watering is the quiet discipline of nurture: care, support, and patience while what you built takes root. Together, those are real responsibilities in Christian entrepreneurship and ethical business growth, but they still don’t guarantee the outcome we want on our timeline.

Then we challenge the scoreboard most people use for business success: acceptance, recognition, titles, authority, and money. What if those aren’t the best measures of growth? What if God defines increase by obedience, and what looks “slow” is actually protection from a future collapse? Hello there. Good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening. And good everything. Welcome to the World Cafe Live Show. How are you doing? I'm doing so, so, so well. Always excited coming into this space. Seeing you and knowing that you are there gives me this satisfaction. I always say not because I want to make you feel good, it is the truth. Partly of, you know, one of the reasons why I always come into this space is because I know you're there listening. And somehow you're looking forward to my thoughts, you know, to share and all of that gives me great, great, great joy. Okay, I'm good. I'm good, I'm good. It's been an amazing season. Yeah, I've been having this uh good, not just good feeling, this satisfaction, this conviction. You know, sometimes when I sit down and I ask myself, is he worth it? As in what we do, you know, coming in, sharing thoughts, is it worth it? I always have this quiet answer within me. Someone is listening, someone needs to hear it. So today I want to talk about, I want to share with you

The Principle Of Increase

the principle of increase. Increase. I am not a business person in the sense that, like, okay, I buy and sell, or I'm into one form of trade or the other. But I'm a business person by the reason of sharing with you all the time. I see it as a business. What's my profit at the end of the day? Because when you talk about increase, what comes to our mind is profit. And this is how I see it. So I sat down to look at the principle of increase. And yes, I'll look at it from the lens of scripture.

You know that scripture where Paul was talking, you know, talking about him watering Apollos. Rather, he planted Apollos watered. But who gave increase? God, you see.

And I looked at it from I said, okay, bring it into the business space. How would you look at it? Who determines increase? Who determines success? Who determines growth? One person plants, the other waters, but they don't determine the profit.

God. And there was once I wrote a thought, and that thought had to do with God dwells in the how. There's one question that bothers every business entity, anybody who is into business, how do we make profit? How do we increase what we are doing? It bothers every business mind. It leads to some businesses cutting corners. It leads to some businesses going into sharp practices. But from this analogy given by Paul is clear. You don't have to.

Planting And Watering As Craft

Now there is a place of human factor. I'm going to read some things now in building. One of it is planting. You develop techniques of a master builder. You interpret the design to, you know, specific details, tiny, you know, as a master builder, not leaving anything to chance. You know, you provide a blueprint that can be reproduced. I put down these thoughts. Anywhere, anytime, if followed. Then there's another aspect to it, the art of nurturing, providing care and support. That's watering. Now, the human mind is so designed by God in such a way that we have the capacity and capability when we yield to interpret God's mind on the earth in business form. This is my conviction. Every business on the earth is an interpretation of God's mind.

That's the truth. How? Because he said, I've given you dominion, rule over the earth.

Have dominion over the earth. This is God giving you a mandate, more or less like giving you his mind. Let this mind that is in me now be in you, so go and dominate. So you have those who have that capacity and capability to interpret the mind of God on earth. And they always, they always end up when they follow the mind, they end up creating amazing, amazing stuff all over. Amazing stuff.

How We Usually Measure Growth

One factor that governs the human enterprise as business, as we call it, is growth. How do we measure growth? We measure growth by acceptance. When we see, let's say when we're doing something and we have this wide acceptance, we see it as growth. We also see fame, recognition, validation as growth. So imagine somebody now recognizing your work and now placing value on what you do, and they now give you that title expert or expertise. You see it as growth. We also see authority acquired through competence or knowledge as growth. You know, you've been at it, you've been on this particular thing over and over again, and you have built this level of acceptance, which is now authority or translates into authority. This is how I see authority in this sense. People now allow you to speak over them. They listen to you.

Another one again: financial reward. But is this how we really measure growth?

Or is this how God measures growth? Or is this how growth indeed should be measured?

Obedience As The Real Metric

What if I tell you that God measures and defines growth or increase by obedience?

Silence. By obedience.

I've seen a lot of businesses, a lot of individuals who want to make it in their business. They go, like I said, all out, guns blazing and all of that.

Then more often than not, they step away from obeying God. Just like he said, this book of the law shall not depart.

You meditate upon it day and night to observe all. That's obedience. The highest form of sacrifice to bringing about change and reward and increase in your business is obedience. That's it, it's obedience. Like I said, the mind, God, we capture God's mind in creation and we run out there to interpret it. But now He's telling you and I, this is not how to do it. This is how to do it. Sometimes it appears like the way God wants us to do it is too slow. And that's what we think is slow. And because we think it's slow, we want to do it our way, and we end up corrupting the process. That listen, God cannot be mocked. Whatsoever a man sows, he shall reap. So your business principle must be hinged on God gives the increase.

If you don't, what you see as increase or what you're seeing as increase is a field increase, is a defective increase.

It's a corrupt or corrupted increase. Time will reveal it. Because it is standing on a foundation that cannot hold. That's how I think

The Cost Of Corrupt Increase

we should run businesses. We should approach businesses. No matter the kind of business you want to do out there, if you don't have the God increase factor, if you don't have the God increase mindset, you're going to put out a lot of corrupt things out there. You're going to manipulate.

Yeah, I've seen I've seen, you know, some businesses studying, reading what people do just because they want to have quote unquote, they reward, they increase.

They break divine laws. And God cannot be mocked.
