Episode 95 - Navied Mahdavian

Vin Coca, Beth Lawler, Paul Nesja Season 3 Episode 95

On part 2 of this week's episode, we interview cartoonist Navied Mahdavian. Navied shares his story of leaving his career as a fifth grade teacher to move to a cabin in Idaho to focus on cartoons. A year after laboring over his cartoons, Navied went to New York and sold a cartoon to The New Yorker with his very first batch! We talk about that path in detail and he shares some of his favorite cartoons. We also discuss Navied's cartoon in the caption contest and his hysterical cartoons in the Rejection Collection.   Finally, Navied shares a glimpse into his first graphic memoir, This Country, due to be released in September.
