There has been a lot of chatter regarding social media's role in trials. In this episode, we will delve into this topic with two of our fellow QMUL LLM students, Jessica Marshal and Eren Itoga. Today, we're looking into how social media has influenced the right to a fair trial. In doing so, we examine how the United States and the United Kingdom regulate social media coverage of ongoing trials. We also talk about several recent instances that received a lot of attention on social media, such as the infamous Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trials.
