We saw last time in the worst of times in the midst of that bad news, there is good news, and that good news is that God news that God wants to save those who trust in Him. There are 2 major lessons in this story, and we shall look at those 2 major lessons next time.

Firstly, worldwide wickedness brought pain to God and judgment to the world. A judgment that had to come considering the state the world had got itself into. However, by God’s grace people could be spared. The bad news is that in the days before the flood the intent, desire, design, and purposes of virtually every human being on the planet was on evil all of the time. Their minds and hearts were not only completely given over to sin, but they were even inventing new forms of wickedness, and they were doing it continually. Sound familiar? 

I want to close by making two final points. Number one the bad news is that things are just as bad today. Things are as bad I've ever seen them or as I would ever could have imagined they could be. Terrorists are beheading people and crucifying Christians. Innocent people are being slaughtered all over the world. In his 1932 book Ernest Hemingway wrote without any sense of irony, what he believed morality to be. 

“What is moral is what makes you feel good after doing it and what is immoral is what make you feel bad after doing it”.

 So, for Hemmingway and the new thinkers that emerged between the wars, the issue is how does it make you feel. The philosopher and historian Arnold Toynbee commented on this modernist perspective by saying. We are the first generation to try to build a society without a moral reference point. We're live in wicked times folks. The world has devised 1000 of different ways to produce moral destruction in the lives of its individuals. This current generation is being tempted with more opportunities to entangle and corrupt themselves in damaging behaviours at ever younger ages and in increasingly clever ways. But my point this morning is, although there is bad news, there is good news as well.

So, what's the good news? The good news is that God is gracious he will save everyone that turns to Him and trusts in Him  Noah in his generation found grace in the eyes of the Lord and he was saved. 

The bad news is really bad, but the good news is better. It couldn’t be any better in fact. By his grace God repairs forgives, restores, and rebuilds. So, in future when you see bad stuff happening around you ask yourself where is the good news in this situation? Look for the grace of God. The Lord is still alive, and the Lord is still working. So, when you see something bad in the world ask where the opportunity for you to demonstrate the grace of God in that situation. How can I help promote the love of God in the midst of this wicked generation? 

The Bible says that where sin thrives grace can thrive much more. So, when you hear bad news, start praying and ask God to exercise his grace through you. Because as long as we're here, as Christians we can recongnise that God is at work in us and we just need to cooperate with what he's doing. Loving people in practical ways and giving people the good news so that they can know the love of God in their lives also.
