Revelation 5: Understanding how the Good Shepherd and the Holy Spirit Help Us in the End Times! (1:4)
Mar 12, 2022

Today, I share about how the Trinity being in our present and future can give us great assurance!  I liken it to the context of a shepherd taking care of his sheep.  As the Good Shepherd, Jesus has already gone ahead of us and scoped out the territory for all the sheep, making sure of safety, provision, and protection from our enemies.

God encourages us to not worry about tomorrow, for today has enough trouble of its own.  What would that dynamic look like as we approach the End Times?  While the enemy seeks to weigh us down with stress, fear, and worry, God wants to liberate us to focus on Him, make wise decisions, and free up our inner resources to solve problems creatively through Him.

In this episode, we also talk about the ministry and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which will empower us for victory today and into the future!

We need not fear, when we realize how God has supplied all we need!

SCRIPTURES STUDIED

Matthew 6:31-34
Isaiah 11:2
John 14:6
Acts 2:16-21

RESOURCES

A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23  by W. Phillip Keller:  The author draws upon his experiences as a shepherd to give readers a more thorough understanding of the meaning of each line of Psalm 23 and everything a shepherd does to take care of his sheep.

Personally, this book helped me to trust Jesus more as the Good Shepherd over my life.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1.   Do you find yourself worrying about present and future things?   Can you do anything about those things?  If so, develop a plan to do something proactive in the place of worry.  If not, consider how you can release those worries to God and pray concerning all things.

What does it mean for you to not worry about tomorrow?  What would that look like in your life and how will you accomplish it?

Philippians 4:6-7--Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

2.  Did this podcast episode help you to have a different mindset, in regards to worry, fear, and stress?  What does it mean to "hold every thought captive unto the obedience of Christ," and to replace fear, lies, and deception with God's truth?  (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)  What Bible verses and passages can help you to replace worry with faith in your life?

3.  Why was it important for God to describe the Holy Spirit in the book of Revelation as the "seven spirits" of God?  If the Holy Spirit is the perfect helper, have you made the most of your relationship with Him?  Why or why not?  How can you become more open to the Spirit's influence in your life and better cooperate with Him?
