Protecting Koalas with Solar Tags
•
Season 2
•
Episode 3
This episode reads and translates from Irish to English the news piece about koalas. Koalas are listed as potentially vulnerable and are becoming under threat for many reasons, one of which is wildfires. Wombats have been known to seek out koalas who have been in danger of bushfires and bring them deep into their burrows to protect them and keep them from harm. Ecologists now believe that they can protect koalas with solar panel tags. They will use the tags to identify the animals and keep them safe from bushfires. The solar panel tags act as tracking devices for the animals.
