Have you ever wanted to have someone in your life who you could ask real questions about your art, your business, and even your walk with the Lord? Well, that's exactly what we do every Friday here on 5-Minute Mentoring, where I answer one question from one of my awesome podcast listeners in order to help you start really thriving as the artist you know God created you to be. Well, hey, my friend, I'm really glad that you're here with me today on 5-Minute Mentoring. You know, one of my favorite scriptures, and if you've heard me speak at all or listen to this podcast at all, you know that I love Matthew 25 and the parable of the talents, because I think it's just such a perfect picture of how growth in the kingdom happens. You know, a few years back, I was reading that passage again and just meditating on it, and the Lord showed me a word. there in that section of scripture. And I was like, whoa, that is so profound and yet so simple. And it was the word quickly, because it talks about in that story of the parable of the talents, you know, Jesus is the master of the field in the story, and he gives talents, money, you know, to his servants that are there. One guy gives five talents to the other one, he gives to another one. And It's interesting to me in the story that the first guy that had the most given to him, it says that he went quickly. All right. Doesn't say that about any of the other ones, but it says he went quickly and invested the money. And, you know, if you look at that story, it's interesting because the other two guys got investment. All right. They had the opportunity to be able to go and do something with their money. In fact, the middle guy, he went in and doubled his money. That was really awesome. I think he was on the way probably to being a five talent sort of guy. But here's the interesting thing to me. It just proved the fact that. People that have been entrusted with a lot have learned to respond quickly to the Lord. What does that mean? Well, if you look at the other guy in the parable of the talents, it says that he went and hit his in the ground, and we know that that was because of fear, right? You can read on in the story. He says, you know, I knew you to be a hard man. He had this... misunderstanding, if you will, about who God was and who the master of the field was in this story and what was possible for him because of that. And what that caused in his life was this inability to act quickly and to respond in a way that was filled with faith. Listen, one of the biggest things that you can do in your life is that when you have an unction from the Lord, when you have a desire, when you have a rumbling inside your spirit that is leading you, a desire that's welling up, that's drawing you into a certain area, the biggest thing, the most important thing that you can do is step out quickly. Now, I can hear you saying, well, Matt, what if it's not the Lord? What if I don't know it's the Lord? Listen, here's the deal, guys. This is so important, all right? I really believe that God directs our steps, not our standing still, that we are to be still and know that he is God, that we're to lay our desires before him, that we're to listen for his voice, that we're to cultivate an intimate relationship with the Lord. But as we're doing that, God uses desire, God uses power, God uses dreams in order to ignite action in us so that we can respond to the move of the Spirit in the context of our design and step out in the things that He has for us. What happens most of the time is that people way overanalyze what they're thinking and what they think they're hearing and what if I mess up and what if this doesn't happen and oh, I did this before and it didn't work out and all this fear completely paralyzes people. And so I've just learned, if I get an idea, if I get a desire, if I get a passion from the Lord, I begin to move on that quickly. Why? Because as I do, I find that that's when revelation comes. That's when direction come. That's when divine appointments and connections come. That's when I get clear about Is this the right direction or is it not the right direction? Or, oh, wow, I started in this direction, but I'm going to need to move this way as the Lord begins to direct my steps. I'm going to follow his lead. But the biggest thing is I'm off of the starting pad. I'm just getting started. I start quickly. Listen, learning to respond quickly to the voice of the Lord and not dragging your feet is so huge because every opportunity that the Lord gives you has a life cycle to it. It has a timeframe to it, all right? There are ideas that God's gonna drop in your heart that are gonna have a timeframe. They're gonna have a beginning and an end date, all right? You can choose to take advantage of that opportunity or not. There are opportunities that you're going to have in your life, business ideas, relational ideas, events, all sorts of different things that you'll have that if you don't take advantage of it, it's going to be like a wave in the ocean. It's going to come up and there it'll go. And you can either choose to decide to ride the wave or to let it go on past. But you can't get upset because, well, I just didn't know if it was the right wave and I was waiting on the right way. Listen, Just ride the wave, all right? Just jump in and ride the wave because my heart, and I hope your heart is becoming this way. My heart is convinced that God wants me to get this more than I want to get it. God's desire for me is that I walk in the kingdom and prosper in the kingdom, even as my soul prospers. And then as I say yes, and as I step out, and as I respond quickly to the desires and to the movings, the intuitions that God is putting on my heart, that the Holy Spirit's speaking inside of me, as I respond quickly to those things, I believe all of heaven comes around me to support and to uphold and to protect me as I walk in the thing that God has put desire in me for. And I think that's a beautiful, beautiful dynamic in the kingdom. All right. Well, listen, I want to encourage you, whatever it is that you are thinking about right now, that you, maybe you've been thinking about this for two weeks or three weeks, you know, I need to do this, or I feel like God's called me to do this, but I just don't know. Listen, don't worry about the how. All right, just say yes to the what. The how will work itself out as you begin to step out and respond quickly with your yes to the Lord. All right, I hope that's a big encouragement for you today. Whatever the Lord's putting in front of you, whatever opportunity that's out there for you today, I hope that you will say yes and begin to see God show up in a huge way in your life. All right, my friend, I love you. Till next time, remember you were created to thrive. Bye-bye.
