SPEAKER_00:Have you ever wanted to have someone in your life who you could ask real questions about your art, your business, and even your walk with the Lord? Well, that's exactly what we do every Friday here on 5-Minute Mentoring, where I answer one question from one of my awesome podcast listeners in order to help you start really thriving as the artist you know God created you to be. Hey, my friend, I hope you're doing awesome today. I'm so glad that you're here with me on 5-Minute Mentoring. It's a good way to spend a Friday. Listen, I was just thinking the other day, I was just sitting with the Lord and just doing things that I normally do in the mornings, journaling and listening to some worship music and just kind of listening to the voice of the Lord and looking outside, all that kind of stuff. And I just got hit all of a sudden with just kind of some Fear and anxiety and jealousy and insecurity and all this kind of stuff. And I know some of you are like saying, Matt, that happens to you? Of course that happens to me. It happens to all of us. But you know... It's kind of a funny thing I've learned over the years. On one side, it's kind of funny because I'm like, yeah, here this comes again. The other side of that is it's kind of disheartening because it's like, again, really? I mean, am I still dealing with that kind of stuff in my life? But listen, that's part of the human condition, right? I mean, we've all got a flesh nature and a part of us that the enemy's always wanting to take advantage of. And the thing I've learned over the years is, number one, that does not define me and that does not define you. All right. Awareness of your own human like frailty. All right. And your propensity to give in to thoughts like that and even think thoughts and treat thoughts and meditate on thoughts like that for a little bit. It really is, you know, part of the human condition, but also it triggers our need in a very real sense to renew our mind again. and to connect with the reality of God's love for us in the person of Jesus. Listen, anytime the enemy hits you with overwhelming thoughts of fear and anxiety and jealousy and insecurity and all that junk that he loves to confuse and steal and kill and destroy with, and anytime he's hitting you with that, you have to realize that's an opportunity to take that thought captive and to say, now, is this true or is it not? And I know that it's not because it doesn't line up with the Word of God. And so I'm going to throw myself into the arms of Jesus and realize He is my hope. He's my strength when I don't have any strength. He's my provider if the enemy's hitting me with fear about money or about provision. He's my vision giver if I've lost my way. He's my protector if I feel taken advantage of. He's the identity giver if I feel jealous or somehow not enough. Listen, in him, in him, our place is secure. Why? Because his love never changes. His gifts are without repentance. The Holy Spirit, the kingdom of God living and active inside of us all the time. That's the reality. That's the truth. And so, you know, if you're out there today, or maybe you've just gone through a situation like this, or if you're not, I'm sure you will in the future. If you're struggling with that today, I just want to encourage you, intentionally make an exchange. Trade in those dominating thoughts and feelings and fears for the truth of God's promises toward you. And then rehearse and reinforce those over and over and over again. My friend, if you'll do that in your life on an ongoing basis, the things that have taken you captive, you will end up taking captive, giving to the Lord and trading in. for the newness and the freshness of his promises toward you. My friend, I love you so much. I'm glad you're here with me. I hope you're living an awesome life. I hope you're living in everything that God's got for you. And until next time, remember, you were created to thrive. All right, bye-bye.
