Iris Disse
“Iris Disse is a German theatre director, award-winning radio artist, author and founder of Durga’s Tiger School, whose work unfolds between Berlin and Ecuador.
Her podcasts, audio documentaries and radio plays invite listeners on extraordinary journeys. Each work is a crystallisation point in the flow of her life.
She travels with the Shipibo shaman Elisa through mystical worlds, follows the trail of the women pirates of the Caribbean, encounters La Santísima Muerte in Mexico as a compassionate companion of the poor and the outcast, and traces the lives of Indigenous women and men in Peru, Ecuador, Panama and Mexico who step beyond the role of victimhood and reveal their power to help shape a more just world.
Every production is created in collaboration with musicians, actors and sound artists. Giving courageous people a public voice and creating as a team are at the heart of her work. Mystery, love, freedom and transformation run through all of her audio stories, carried by voices, music and sound.
Through the Durga’s Tiger School Podcast, tantric teacher Iris Disse also invites listeners to explore the realms of love, intimacy and self-development through tantric and shamanic wisdom. Each episode offers stories, rituals, daily practices and practical tools that inspire creativity, deepen relationships and expand awareness. Together, they offer a taste of how to “ride the tiger”—embracing life with courage, presence and joy.
Welcome to the journey. Ahó.“

“You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.” Kahlil Gibran
There are so many good advises about love but it often it closes us down and makes us sad that the feeling of love vanishes really fast. That’s why on this episode Iris talks about the power of rituals. How these practices give us a safe space to dance, to share, to communicate and to love.
The ritual: Today we share a communication ritual called monodialogue. You can share it with your lover or anybody that you would like to communicate with. Create a safe space where you are not interrupted. Set a time (minimum 30 min maximum 2 hours). Decide how long each one of you will communicate for (it could be for 15 min or 20 min). The one that speaks shares his or her feelings and the other is active listening, that means, listening with an open heart. Something really important is that you don’t attack the other and you don’t have to answer what the other one said. Don’t speak about what you shared until the next day.
Thank you for listening to our podcast of the week! We love sharing this space with you. We invite you to visit our website https://durgas-tiger-school.com/ and also to share this episode with everyone that you think that will also love it. Aho!
