Michele LeMay
Hello, and welcome to another edition of "Relax My Mind". I'm Michelle LeMay. And I am joined with Venice Sullivan. Venice is the director of the Fair Oaks Cereset. Venice. How's it going today?
Venice Sullivan
It's really awesome. I'm enjoying this beautiful sunshine. How about you, Michelle?
Michele
Totally! Absolutely. So today, we have got a lot of things that we're going to talk about, we're going to talk about head injuries. We're going to talk about moms and children, first responders and veterans and maybe not worrying about trying to change others, but maybe working on ourselves. So we're gonna do all that in the context of Cereset. Because you are the director of the Fair Oaks Cereset.
Venice
I am, and, it's been my pleasure to work with a whole lot of people over the last few years and help them change their lives, letting their brain do the work.
Michele
Walk us through briefly on what is Cereset?
Michele
So Cereset, literally is resetting the cerebrum or the brain on that's where the name comes from. Very briefly, Lee Gerdes, who is the founder and CEO of Cereset, had been attacked by four guys a number of years ago, one of them had a baseball bat. And Lee was left with severe PTSD and a head injury.
Venice
And after about eight years of seeking every type of normal and strange type of therapies out there, finally, a doctor said to him, you know, Lee, we can't help you. It's all in your brain, and we don't know how to fix it.
Michele
Wow, that is a very scary place to be. So what did he do?
Venice
Well, you know, the amazing thing about Lee as an engineer, the man has four degrees in physics, theology, psychology, computer science, the man is a genius. And as an engineer, you know, he comes with his own unique personality. But he says, Well, why didn't you tell me this eight years ago, I'll do it myself. So he set about studying and trying different things on himself and started creating what we now know is Cereset. His biggest concern, though, as he started getting better and functioning differently, and the people around him were noticing those changes, they started saying, hey, whatever you're doing, do it to me, I want this. And his biggest concern was, I don't want to screw somebody else up, I don't want to mess somebody else up. So he actually spent about a month locked away, trying to do all the things he could do to mess himself up. And it's one of the amazing things about the brain is the brain would not accept any of what he was trying to do. The brain is this amazing innate, being on its own. And it's going no, I'm not going there. And so it's one of the things that I appreciate is working with clients and knowing that anything I'm going to do, the client is going to come out better from or the same that nothing is going to get worse.
Michele
That's awesome. Boy, you gotta love engineers, right?
Venice
They are a necessary part of our life. Indeed.
Michele
Absolutely, absolutely, So when somebody calls in, what happens from there, what is the process?
Venice
We do two or three interviews with a client ahead of time before they actually come into the office. Part of that is due to the state of today's world and trying to stay as distanced as possible and stay strong and safe. We want to make sure this program is the right fit for this client at this time. It's not right for everybody. There isn't a single therapy out there that's right for every person. So that's the first thing that we do is we want to make sure this is the right fit for this person. After that, when they actually come in for their sessions, they're sat in a comfy chair. We put sensors on the head, we give you a fuzzy blanket. And with the sensors on the head, they're picking up your brainwaves, converting them to sound and instantly playing them back to you.
Michele
That's great. So they're not talking or rehashing any thing, they're just basically taking a nap and allowing to the brain to reset itself.
Venice
Exactly. And that's one of the big ones for me is having come from a background of severe depression and a lot of therapy, I was done talking about it. It's what I love about Cereset is you're not rehashing it, you don't have to dig it back up. That your brain as, we call it, an acoustic mirror, as we're sending the sounds from your brainwaves back to you. Your brain recognizes itself, what's not working, ideally, and it sets about changing itself. So it truly is healing from the inside out. We're not doing anything to you.
Michele
I love that! I love that we're just allowing the body to reset itself. So So I promised at the beginning that we would talk about some things. The first one that I promised was head injuries. So you've treated people with some head injuries, is that right?
Venice
Absolutely. And it's there again, with Lee Gerdes that was part of the big thing of his injury, and how this came about. So then with everybody, it depends on the level of head injury eccetera. And, you know, we have a client in the chair right now. And she's come back for a second set of sessions, because with each set of sessions, there's a deeper level of healing. But she was in construction, she fell off a ladder on her head. And my understanding is somebody bumped the ladder or move the ladder or something. She had been through all the normal therapies that the medical world had to provide, and may have been a little better, but certainly wasn't where she wanted to be. So she came in and did Cereset. Her function is better, her balances better. Her ability to deal with life is better. You know, my understanding is since she was here last to now her mother had passed away. And you know, she's been able to deal with that. I don't know about anybody else, but I want the maximum level of healing I can get, so she is back for a second set of sessions.
Michele
That brings up a really good point. So obviously, this is not something that happens overnight.
Venice
It is not. Think about surgery, they go they do the surgery, they sew you up that outside scar heals very quickly. But whatever's inside takes a long time to heal. And they'll tell you that, you know, it may be six months to a year before you're 100% back to normal. Our body heals in its own time, life is not about the instant. Yeah, it's how we all want to function. Now, right now, you know, we're kicking our heels. But life takes time and healing takes time. So when you come in, we're deeply relaxing the brain in a very short period of time, and starting that healing process. And as the brain heals, a lot of times people don't even, they're not conscious of the changes that are happening. Because sometimes they're so gradual. And so all of a sudden, for many clients, they go, Well, nothing happened. But all the people around them are going oh my god, but you are reacting so differently. The spouse says life is just different at home now than it used to be. It is gradual, and it does take time. And in my mind in my world, it is amazing.
Michele
Wow. Well, we're gonna talk in just a moment a little bit more about a mom, I think you've got a mom example for us.
Michele
Cereset is a great way to hit the reset button and just really de stress and start working towards a more relaxed and better functioning brain and body for that matter.
Michele
So Venice, we were talking about head injuries. But now what about moms? Moms being a mom, I'm a mom, it's stressful. Do you have an example of a mom or maybe a child that you've helped before?
Venice
You know, it's interesting Michelle, because so many people after hearing the program, they pick up the phone and go, my son, my daughter, my husband, my wife, my whoever has this problem and this can fix it. I want to fix my kid my whoever. I want to take you back to the airplane. When you get on the airplane. They do an oxygen mask demo. And what did they say? Put on your oxygen mask first. So you can help those around you. I was seeing a young child the other day in a store. And he obviously had some, you know, behavioral issues, movement issues. And dad was doing really good with him and doing his best to stay patient. But I could really tell that dad was struggling to maintain his patience. And yes, maybe at some point, this would be an ideal process for the child. But for right now, the process is for the parent, because the more patience the parent has, the more they can let go of some of this stress, the better they're going to interact with their child. And we did have a mom come in recently, I'd met her at a function and we got to talking and she goes, Oh, my son needs this. This is an adult son. He's made some really, really bad choices. Now, as a parent of adult kids, we don't always appreciate the the choices our kids make, right?
Michelex
Oh, yes, Absolutely.
Venice
So anyway, she wanted her son to do Cereset. To get him on the right track. And we talked a little bit and I'm going well, you know, the son has to be on board. We have to have him wanting to do this. It doesn't matter what we want for our kids. Whoever's doing Cereset has to be wanting to do it for themselves.
Michele
Absolutely.
Venice
So the more we talked, she finally goes, you know, I can't fix him. He is an adult, I can't change his choices, I can't guide his choices anymore. I need to come in and do this for me. And so she did, she came in and did her sessions. And I talked to her about a week ago, she goes she you know, I can't believe in the change in relationship that I have with my son. I'm more understanding, I'm sleeping better. Even my relationship with my husband is better, because we're not always fighting about my son. So her overall state of mind has improved, her function has improved. And now her relationship with her son has improved, so that she can maybe say, Hey, I did this, how about you trying it too, and is going to have a much better result than going, you need to do this. Now, as a mom, as a parent, we're here to fix others. That's what we all do. But start with yourself. If it is right for that other person, maybe the changes they see in you will help them change themselves.
Michele
Oh, that is such a great example. I remember the illustration of rope. You can't push a rope, but you can pull and have it come along behind you.
Venice
We work with a lot of families. You know, dysfunction doesn't happen in one person. It happens in the whole family. And I had worked with this one family and two teenage girls and a mom and a dad. And afterwards the dad says, you know, I didn't get anything out of this. And the mom stood there and gave him this look and going what? And she says, you know you used to work until it was bedtime. And then you came home and went to bed. She says in this last week you spent more time in the evening playing games with your daughters, just being with them than you have in months.
Michele
Wow,
Venice
He did not see that himself. We often don't see in ourselves what we're doing. But this was how mom and the family saw the changes in the Dad..
Michele
Wow, that is incredible. Because I I've heard you say before that this is just not an overnight thing. It's it's a journey. It's going to be gradual healing over time.
Venice
Absolutely.
Michele
Yeah. So so we've been talking about head injuries and moms and families and children because it's this past couple years have been very stressful on children. I'm it's also been stressful on first responders. I know you really like working with first responders. Can you tell me maybe something about why that would be a good could be a good fit for Cereset
Venice
Our first responders, our veterans, our frontline medical people, right now, with the level of stress that's happening everywhere in the world, everybody is off the charts in their behavior. So that is affecting even more, our first responders, our law enforcement, our medical providers, and that's upping their stress. Now, if you think about your average veteran or first responder, they see things on a daily basis that none of us should have to deal with. And the traditional answer for that is, well, I get off shift and I have some alcohol, because that's the accepted thing to do.
Michele
Yeah.
Venice
So that in itself creates its own problems. Well, what if instead of turning to alcohol, we learn to relax our brain and let go of that, that keeps building up. You know, it doesn't matter what our job is, but my heart bleeds for the people on the frontlines at this point, with the amount of stress that they're under, and they just have nowhere to turn. For all of those people. That's why I do what I do is I want to help the people who can't find help.
Michele
Now, we are talking with Venice Sullivan, who is the director of the Fair Oaks Cereset. This is "Relax, My Mind". I'm Michelle LeMay. And let's talk some more Venice, about veterans and first responders.
Venice
Well as a veteran, and my husband and I are so fortunate because we came home, relatively unscathed from our military experiences, but so many of our friends did not. So that's something very, I keep saying things that are dear to my heart, but it really is. Working with our veterans is so important. I had a call this week from a guy who, in talking with him had been out of military for a number of years, was about two years after his discharge that he realized that maybe it was important for him to work on his mental health, well, where to veterans go? We go to the VA, and he has not been able to really get the help he needed from the VA. So he's looked at, you know, traditional therapy, all the normal things, and he's still really struggling. Now, what almost made me cry and talking to him is when he said, but at least I'm still here. Many of my friends are no longer with us. And that, that just breaks my heart because our veterans are not getting the care, they, they need, they deserve. And so, you know, we've done studies, Cereset has done studies with Fort Bragg, with Bethesda on the efficacy for the military and, and our veterans, but yet, it's not one of the benefits they have. So we are here with special pricing for first responders and for Veterans. And the thing I everybody needs to remember is Cereset doesn't erase what happens, but it does change how we react to it. It takes away the past's control on our today and on our future. And so many people who have PTSD, that have those triggers that are just constantly keeping them in that stress level. What many of our veterans and law enforcement has said is, the triggers just disappear. I don't know where they went. But I'm not triggered anymore. And that is huge.
Michele
Oh, man, that is huge. And hopefully, our listener caught what you said couple things is, if you are a veteran and first responder you have special pricing than please or maybe have gotten PTSD from some other incident. Cereset could be the answer that you're looking for. So let's just do a quick recap of what Cereset is, how it can help. Who is it going to work for best.
Venice
If you have a semi functioning brain Cereset can help. If you're still breathing Cereset can help. That's number one. Number two is we're working from the inside out. We're putting sensors in your head, picking up your brainwaves, converting them to sound and playing him back to you. And as your brain hears it itself, it recognizes what's not working right, and sets about changing itself. So what we at Cereset are doing is we're letting your brain help you. We're not doing anything to you. And to me, that's really important. So, I look forward to talking to people that, gee I just want to information, please call us. It may not be the right answer for you, but it just might be and it could change your life like it has so many others.
Michele
Absolutely. I love what you just said, Let your brain help you. Again, we've been talking with Venice Sullivan, who is the director of the Fair Oaks Cereset. Venice, it is always a pleasure talking with you hearing about the great work that you're doing.
Venice
Thank you, Michelle. i This comes from my heart. My mission in life is to help people live a better life.
Michele
Well, thank you for listening and we will talk with you again next week on "Relax My Mind"
