Presehtation and Iintroduction 0:00
Perhaps one of the most glaring weaknesses of present-day civilization lies in an inadequate view of man. Ours is, without a doubt, the era in which most has been written and spoken about man, the era of humanism and anthropocentrism. Yet, paradoxically, it is also the time of man's deep anxieties about his identity and destiny, of man's lowering to previously unsuspected levels, a time of human values violated as never before.
How do you explain this paradox? We can say that it is the inexorable paradox of atheistic humanism. It is the drama of man being cut off from an essential dimension of his being – the absolute – and thus confronted with the worst reduction of his own being.
These are excerpts from Pope St. John Paul II's Encyclical, Veritatis Splendor, which will serve as a preface to today's episode. Let us remember that as it is written in Genesis, man is the name given to the human being. He created him male and female.
But let's continue to delve into this intricate concept of gender ideology.
Hello, today is Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the year of the Lord. Welcome to episode No. 60 and the second episode of the third season of our podcast GREAT SCIENTIFIC FRAUDS.
I am your host, Dr. Esteban Morales van Kwartel.
With what was presented in the previous episode we can realize that it is not only intended to liberate people's sexual preferences in a kind of supply and demand, but also to eliminate numerous traditions and healthy behaviors, such as the family and marriage as they have been instituted by God; love and fidelity between spouses; having children within marriage, etc. Incidentally, the commemoration of the family, which took place on May 15, went unnoticed.
But in addition to this, they begin to create innumerable categories of genres, opening a horrific Pandora's box, using arguments created by a pseudoscience protected by so-called social and psychological theories that are used to justify the whims of a confused portion of humanity that pretends to fill a deep void created by the absence of God in their lives.
That's what I'm talking about in this episode.
Terminologies of gender ideology. 03:12
Before continuing to describe the concept of gender, I will define sex, because it is important for the discussion and because it is currently located at the pinnacle of controversy and denial.
According to the Larousse dictionary of language, sex is the organic condition that distinguishes males from females.
Science tells us that sex refers to a person's biological state and is classified as male and female. It is necessary to add that there is an additional category that refers to some anomaly or abnormality that represents a very low percentage currently known as intersex.
This was formerly known as hermaphroditism, a term that was dropped because someone found it offensive. I'll talk about this anomaly in another episode, but this is different from today's "transsexual hysteria." There are also a number of indicators of biological sex, including sex chromosomes, gonads, internal reproductive organs, and external genitalia.
The development of these organs is related to the secretion of certain hormones in a process regulated by the biological functions of the human organism and produces effects on the configuration of organs, including the brain. This mechanism is also involved in the determination of the gender of the person, in a really scientific conception of this term and about which I will also talk in another episode.
In the previous chapter we saw that a concept of gender that began linked to a valid struggle against the privileges of men to the detriment of women's rights and dignity, developed multiple heads and limbs, transforming itself into a monstrous multifaceted concept that is increasingly reproduced and complicated.
As part of this current gender ideology, the "Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Clients" have been developed and adopted by the American Psychological Association (APA) Council of Representatives. It defines gender as the attitudes, feelings, and behaviors that a given culture associates with a person's biological sex. In addition, it states that behavior that is compatible with cultural expectations is called gender normative; Behaviors that are considered incompatible with these expectations are known as gender nonconformity.
Based on this, the same standard creates the definitions of: gender identity; gender expressions; and sexual orientation. Within each of these categories there are, in turn, numerous other categories. In fact, the same rules define the terms: coming out of the closet and staying in the closet.
The above-mentioned norms also define the terms transgender, transsexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual. These last three are, according to these norms, categories of sexual orientation and are described as the classics, but the same norms also state that while these categories continue to be widely used, research has suggested that sexual orientation does not always appear in such definable categories and can instead occur continuously or fluidly. In other words, different menus have been designed and continue to be designed to feed the variety of the current sexual buffet.
But beyond the rules, this is even more complicated; I will try to summarize the most notorious aspects. For this I have read some of the most iconic books by the promoters of this social construct; but due to the overwhelming number of concepts that have been created and continue to be created, I have also helped myself with summaries presented by Wikipedia, which has become an important repository of everything related to the LGTBQ+ movement.
So we have that in this construct of the social sciences, gender includes the social, psychological, cultural, and behavioral aspects of being male, female, or other gender identity. This depends on the context (as my brother-in-law says, it depends on the assurances). According to the literature consulted, most cultures use the concept of gender binary, i.e. male or female. Others use the concept of non-binary. These would be the two classifications into which the two gender identities are grouped.
The sexual identification of this second category is being non-binary. They have diverse sexual orientations. Within the non-binary classification would be transgenders, which are those who identify with a gender different from the sex they were assigned at birth; The latter is another concept that has been created to describe sex; not as something fixed or biological, but assigned at birth. Others, within this classification, are not considered transgender. Some transgenders identify as transsexual.
Other terms used are drag queen and genderqueer. The first is the person, usually male, who wears female clothing and makeup to mimic and often exaggerate female gestures and gender roles for entertainment purposes, but I would say more of "acculturation." Historically, drag queens are usually gay men and have been part of gay culture. The second term generally refers to a person who does not subscribe to any conventional gender. As you can see, this really is a complicated, thousand-headed monster.
By creating this concept of gender, what has really been done to people is to "objectify" them. Just as the masculine or feminine or neuter gender is arbitrarily assigned to things (grammatical gender): the table, the pencil, the beach, the weird, etc., to that human being is assigned, or he chooses, the gender he wants; but not only within those two, but a huge variety that continues to grow. This for the sake of a false freedom that is conferred on that "objectified" human being.
There are many people of good faith, who border on naivety, who say, poor things, they have the right, their freedom must be respected, etc. In the next section I refer to this and explain why this is not so true.
The truth and freedom of the human being. 12:18
First of all, it is necessary to clarify that, as reflected in the document dignitas infinita, which I have been mentioning, all human beings are possessors of an inherent dignity regardless of the circumstances; by virtue of having been created by God; But it is also true that there is an inherent truth.
Pope Saint John Paul II referred to this truth when he began his Encyclical Veritatis Splendor (The Splendor of Truth) with the following: "The splendour of truth shines forth in all the works of the Creator, and in a particular way in man, created in the image and likeness of God (cf. Gen 1:26), for truth enlightens the mind and shapes man's freedom. who in this way is helped to know and love the Lord. This is why the Psalmist exclaims: "Lift up the light of your countenance upon us, O Lord!" (Ps 4:7).
In another part of the Encyclical, referring to the expressions about the human being that are the product of modern culture, he says the following: ... This perception, authentic in itself, has found many expressions, more or less adequate, some of which, however, are far from the truth about man as a creature and image of God and therefore need to be corrected or purified in the light of faith.
Certainly, God has given man a wide freedom, but this is linked to the truth: The truth will set you free (John 8:31-32) I am the way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6). And as we find in the same Encyclical: [...] Man is certainly free, from the moment he can understand and accept God's commandments. And he has a very wide freedom, because he can eat "from any tree in the garden". But this freedom is not unlimited: man must stop before the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because he is called to accept the moral law that God gives him. In reality, man's freedom finds its true and full realization in this acceptance.
Many conceptions of the human being can be created. But this is a creation of God with characteristics that He has given you beforehand. Anthropologists have no right to create a new anthropology. It has already been created and revealed. As Christians, we have a duty to speak out openly on this. The same Encyclical also refers to the following: In the face of so many other forms of humanism, [...] the Church has the right and the duty to proclaim the truth about man, which she received from her Master Jesus Christ. Hopefully no external coercion will stop him from doing so. But, above all, I hope she does not stop doing so because of fears, or doubts, because she has allowed herself to be contaminated by other humanisms, because of a lack of confidence in her original message.
Something that we must be very careful about is that the construction of genders, as it is currently handled, is merely a social construct, promoted by some current sociologists, psychologists, anthropologists and in general, a number of intellectuals dedicated to the social sciences. But it lacks strong biological, genetic, and medical underpinnings.
Another thing we must be very careful of is the presence of false prophets who distort the truth either out of misunderstood compassion; other times out of fear of criticism from others or because of one's own feelings and weaknesses. Many other times because of a relativism that tends to twist the truth to accommodate its own beliefs or doubts or values.
St. John Paul II also referred to this in his address to the bishops at the Conference of Puebla, Mexico in 1979: ... Now, today they run in many places [...] "re-readings" of the Gospel, the result of theoretical speculations rather than of authentic meditation on the Word of God and of a true evangelical commitment. They cause confusion by departing from the central criteria of the Church's faith and fall into the temerity of communicating them, in the form of catechesis, to the Christian communities.
But this ideology has not stopped there; It has gone even further. This social construct has not been limited only to the concept of gender; This has progressed further and further, extending to the very concept of sex which until recently was considered merely biological. Both sex and gender are, in fact, scientific, biological concepts. What currently exists is a social construct that is becoming more and more complicated and what it seeks is to deconstruct humanity as it was created by God.
This will be the subject of the next episode.
Below are the conclusions and farewell.
Conclusions and farewell 18:33
I would like to conclude this episode with three excerpts from Pope St. John Paul II's Encyclical Veritatis Splendor.
The first reads:
In order to safeguard the originality of Christian liberation to the energies it is capable of deploying, it is necessary at all costs, as Pope Paul VI requested, to avoid reductionism and ambiguity: "The Church would lose her deepest significance. Their message of liberation would have no originality and would lend itself to being monopolized and manipulated by ideological systems and political parties."
Another excerpt includes:
Some contemporary cultural tendencies advocate certain ethical orientations that have as their center of thought an alleged conflict between freedom and the law. These are the doctrines that attribute to each individual or to social groups the power to decide on good and evil: human freedom could "create values" and would enjoy a primacy over truth, to the point that truth itself would be considered a creation of freedom...
And finally, the following excerpt:
In some currents of modern thought, freedom has been exalted to the point of considering it as an absolute, which would be the source of values. Doctrines that ignore the meaning of the transcendent or those that are explicitly atheistic are oriented in this direction.
In the next episode, which will be next Tuesday, May 28, I will talk about how this absolute freedom is leading to the deconstruction of the human being.
