Chicana fashion designer, Claudia Rodríguez-Biezunski, was introduced to sewing at a very young age by her immigrant parents. In 2013, she opened a sewing studio named Sew Loka. As a Mexican-American female business owner, Claudia is breaking down barriers, blurring societal norms and proudly welcoming BIPOC and underserved communities through affordable, edgy, and upcycled handmade goods. This SKILLS PAY BILLS podcast will focus on the local makers and creators that excite and inspire Claudia. We recorded this podcast on New Years Eve (12/31/23) while driving to one of our favorite local coffee shops, so please excuse the sometimes "bumpy" audio, it is a metaphor for 2023, and speaking of 2023, this podcast #94 is all about reflecting on the past year and being honest about our successes and our shortcomings. This year was not easy, but we finished much stronger than we started and for that we will be forever grateful! Upwards and Onwards to 2024 - we are ready!!!
