Cenna Khatib is a vibrant 25-year-old, who serves as an Inclusion Teacher in Lynn Public Schools and is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive educational environment. Her journey began in 2021 when she graduated from Hofstra University, where she not only earned a BA degree in Psychology and Creative Writing but also held the prestigious position of President at Hofstra Sp!t, a spoken word club. Cenna's passion for poetry ignited over 13 years ago amidst the turmoil of the Syrian Revolution, sparking her profound desire to express herself through verse. Recently she unveiled her debut poetry collection, "The Screams I Whisper", marking a significant milestone in her literary endeavors.

Happy Birthday, Edgar Allen Poe! Presenter Ken Grout talks with Agatha Morrell about the life, love, and literature of one of America's most iconic authors.
Poe was born January 19, 1809, in Boston, MA, and died October 7, 1849 (aged 40) in Baltimore, MD. His most famous works are poems “To Helen” (1831), “The Raven” (1845), and “Annabel Lee” (1849); the short stories of wickedness and crime “The Tell-Tale Heart” (1843) and “The Cask of Amontillado” (1846); and the supernatural horror story “The Fall of the House of Usher” (1839) and "Murders at the Rue Morgue" (1841) which is said to have "initiated the modern detective story".
Ken Grout is a professor and writer who teaches and works with the art of oral presentation of literature. He was recently selected as an auditor by the Chautauqua Training Institute and is currently working on presentational material relating to both Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allan Poe.
Ken is a full-time faculty member in the Communication Studies Department at Emerson College in Boston, where he teaches Introduction to Speech Communication and Oral Presentation of Literature.

Stephanie Moriarty is originally from New York's Hudson Valley. After nearly a decade in Boston, she and her family moved to Swampscott in 2013. Motivated by a life long curiosity of ceramics, she began taking classes at The Clay School in Lynn. Since then her mastery and love of the medium have grown exponentially. Turning what was merely a hobby into a thriving ceramics business. Stephanie's pottery can now be found at Raven stone, local farmers markets and art shows. Her unique style is a blend of classic form and contemporary comfort. The ergonomic feel of the cup is as warms and comforting as the drink inside.

Gayle Heney is producer and host of the TV series Write Now and former two-term Poet Laureate of North Andover. She edited the poetry books Songs from the Castle’s Remains, and Leaf Sorrow Tree Strong and co-edited Soulmates.
Ms. Heney was an honoree for the Robert Frost Poetry Contest, and in 2021, she was the winner of the Haiga Poetry Contest of the Rockport Poetry Fest. Also in 2021, Ms. Heney was the featured poet for the Haverhill River Bards’ Spring Series and included in the book WordPlay.
Her work has also appeared in Merrimack Mic Takes the Fifth, Anthology V, Methuen Life Magazine and elsewhere. Ms. Heney judges the annual Memorial Hall Library Teen Poetry Contest in Andover, MA. She has led poetry workshops in libraries, schools, galleries, Essex Art Center and at MA Poetry Festivals.

Nancy Hewitt’s love of language, story and poetry evolved alongside her 40-year career as a clinical social worker. Her chapbook Heard was published in 2013 by Finishing Line Press, and her chapbook Completing the Arc will be published by the same press on July 15, 2022.
Her poems have appeared in Spoon River Poetry Review (Editor’s Prize), Mid-American Review, Connecticut River Review, Phoebe Journal, Halcyone Magazine, The Ekphrastic Review, Ellipsis and other journals. Her chapbook This Slanted Scene was a finalist for The Poetry Box award in 2019. She has received nominations for the Pushcart Prize and for Best of the Net.
Nancy received her MFA from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and was the first Poet Laureate of Swampscott, MA. She finds inspiration in the Vermont countryside, in art and in travel.

Lee Eric Freedman is the 3rd Poet Laureate of Swampscott (2016-2018).
Since 2011 he's been affectionately entitled as the
Renegade Poet Laureate of Swampscott (2011-FOREVER)
(This honorarium was bestowed upon him by his friend and storyteller Tony Toledo). He is truly honored and humbled to be both.
When Lee isn't busy being any type of Laureate he leads the Tin Box Poets of Swampscott Workshop Group, hosts the monthly First Friday Open Mic @ ReachArts Swampscott and regularly performs at open-mics all over the place. He’s a three time winner of the Naomi Cherkofsky Memorial Poetry Contest.

Lindsay Garfield is a singer, songwriter, and musical educator from Swampscott. She has toured internationally, shared stages with Nels Cline of Wilco, Fleet Foxes, and Trisha Yearwood, and she has performed on the iconic Fillmore West stage, NPR's Mountain Stage, and Good Morning America.
