Mool Named 2023 Junior Angus Herdsman

Many awards come down to one judge’s opinion on one day. However, the 2023 Junior Herdsman of the Year, Ashlyn Mool from Illinois, was selected by a large group of her peers as recognition for years of excellent work.
Mool said, “Out of every show, every award, this is probably the most meaningful because this is when you’re retiring and is voted on by your juniors, and that means a lot to me.”
The award was created to honor an outstanding member of the National Junior Angus Association in their last year of eligibility. The individual must display a strong work ethic, dedication to his or her animals, and have skills in preparing their cattle for exhibition to a high standard.

American Farm Bureau Federation’s Harvest for All Program Takes Top Honors
Adapted from a release by the American Farm Bureau Federation
The American Farm Bureau Federation earned a Power of Associations Summit Award from the American Society of Association Executives for its successful Harvest for All initiative.
Harvest for All helps address hunger in rural America by harnessing the collaborative power of grassroots farmer and rancher members, county Farm Bureaus, state Farm Bureaus and the American Farm Bureau Federation. Members involved in the organization’s Young Farmers & Ranchers program take the lead in planning, coordinating and executing the initiative, often with involvement from local community leaders and supporters.
In 2022, Harvest for All participants donated 25.3 million pounds of food and $1 million to local food banks, in addition to contributing 13,827 volunteer hours. Historical totals for the program, launched 22 years ago, are impressive — 408.5 million pounds of food, $11 million and 229,207 volunteer hours.
