At the end of June, Japan issued a new space policy, its first since 2016. The policy states that the country, in cooperation with the United States, will study the use of small satellite constellations for missile warning. The panelists, Sam Wilson, Frank Jannuzi (Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation), Sayuri Romei (RAND Corporation), Masashi Murano (Hudson Institute) discuss Japan’s consideration of early warning satellites and its relation to other recent missile and missile defense activity in Japan. They chat about what this could mean for Japan’s military capabilities and the U.S.-Japan defense space relationship. Tune in for more!
