Strength with Dignity - Jonathan Han
Show Notes

Jonathan shares insights from the world of martial arts that help us navigate non-physical conflict. Our conversation explores the receiving position in fighting techniques, and how that position corresponds in some ways to the follower role in life and work. We also challenge the assumption that the follower role is "weak," and  propose an unexpected definition of effective and respectful leadership.

“Being humble is not being weak. It’s strength through dignity.”

“Martial arts training allows you to accept that pain and discomfort and fear and conflict is just part of everyday life. It works as a vaccine to strengthen your immune system to how to handle challenges.”

“The more we try to control the more we get tense, and when we get tense we lose our ability to receive and perceive.”

“Dexterity is the ability to make adjustments as necessary at that moment so that it to someone on the outside it appears intentional.”
