Deuteronomy - A Prophet in my Name

Topeka Bible Church Season 6 Episode 12

When the Israelites heard God’s voice and saw the great fire of His glory in Horeb, they cried out for someone who could survive God’s presence and deliver his messages to them. For a while, that person was Moses. But who would bring God’s word to His people after Moses died? In this message from Deuteronomy 18, Pastor Connor looks at the guidelines God gave for recognizing prophets. He also talks about the promise that God made to raise up a perfect prophet after Moses’s death, and what all this means for us today.

This week, our hosts discuss false prophets, what scripture says about testing prophets, an observation that prophesy is more than simply delivering a message, a comparison of the intimate connection prophets like Jeremiah had with the Lord and Moses’s relationship with God, the unique role Samuel played as a prophet serving during the time of the judges and the beginning of the kingdom under Saul and David, and how all of this applies to the way we approach the interpretation and teaching of God’s word by spiritual leaders in our own lives. Oh, and Jason and Teresa discuss various life changes happening in each of their lives.
