Tonight, you and McGregor finally gets to spill the beans. Good January, get a monument. And we talk about the Oreo with a special guest on this edition of multiverse tonight. Comic books. Saifai fantasy. Add more. If you're looking for a round up though, cheeky news, you're in the right place. This is multi-verse tonight.

Thomas town. Hello everyone. And welcome to the Saifai edition of multiverse tonight. So, uh, I have to ask, how was your Halloween? Uh, my wife and I had around 50 kids show up over the night to, uh, get some coffee, get some candy. Yeah. And unfortunately there weren't a lot of costumes as it was kind of cold that night. You know, for some reason it seems to want to get the freezing right a Halloween and the then of course, a couple of days, a couple of days later we had to do the time or began when daylight savings time, uh, ended. You know, we really do need just abolished daylight savings time altogether. It's, it's no good for anyone. It doesn't help the farmers, you know, it's, it's just not any good. And especially for me, I don't get an extra hour of sleep. I ended up being an extra hour of work tacked onto my Knight because I work overnight.
Speaker 1:
1:57
So in the fall we ended up having to relive that same hour of work over again. And we, you know, in the spring we don't really lose it. What we ended up doing a lot of times is we end up just having, you know, the work an extra hour over. So anyway, this episode we have an interview with Tom Constantino. Uh, he's a associate producer and editor on the Orville and the will you be asking him a lot about season three, you know, about season three. He's a very tough nut to crack. He's very good. Sticking to is a nondisclosure agreement, but a, we do have some, some news that just came out the other day about a new actress that has been added to the cast. So a will be, we'll try to get some information out of him about that. Uh, this was supposed to be an interview that we recorded last week, but, uh, he had to prep his family because there was a vol, a voluntary evacuation from a fire that was in the LA area.
Speaker 1:
3:07
And we hope that, uh, you know, everyone's safe out there. Yeah. We don't, we, uh, don't hope that a, any, a one's in harm's way know. Hopefully the weather's changed out there. Anyway, uh, let's get on with the news. Roger, Roger, we start with star Wars news and you and McGregor who must feel so much better now that the news has been announced, that he will be returning to the role of Obi wan Kenobi for a Disney plus series. The actor told men's journal that quote, it's a bleep, massive relief because for four years I've been having to lie to people about it unquote, whoever. He's only been being allowed to say it, that the show will have six hour long episodes. And, uh, he also has been able to reveal that the story sits between episode three and episode four and he, and, uh, he also wants to quote, get closer and closer to how obiwan felt.
Speaker 1:
4:16
Well, Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I'm grayer and near Hammond age, so it's easier to do unquote, you know, I can see it right now. Uh, Ewan McGregor is only 17 years younger than Alec. Guinness was the when, uh, the original star Wars debuted. So yeah, he is, he is getting into that right, right. Age frame. So, uh, I guess, you know, we'll have to see what this is when, uh, that when that airs, Disney plus by the way is just a few days away. It's just over a week away from debuting, aren't you excited? You get spend more money for more streaming services. Anyway, uh, filming on the show itself. We'll start on the [inaudible] on summer of 2020. And will they be on Disney plus sometime in 2021 the trailer for the rise of Skywalker was big news and now the movie's showing up in everything including a United airlines in flight safety video. Still your droids in the, in the, uh, overhead bins and thank you. And the speaking of the movie, by the way, it's smashed presale records in its first 24 hours. The JJ Abrams helmed movie has racked up more advanced ticket sales than any previous title in the series. According to Adam, the tickets, tickets went on sale after the trailer was released during Monday night. Football is also Adam tickets, second biggest title in first day sales behind a vendor's end game and has sold two and a half as many tickets as the last July. Although there has been some controversy in some circles saying that some entity shadow entity has bought up tickets in blocks in order to achieve this hang out. Me personally, I'm, I'm not going to address these rumors because they're rumors and I require some proof before, you know, I address rumors like this.
Speaker 1:
11:52
Anyway, in a stunner this past Tuesday, it was reported that game of Thrones TV critters, David Benioff and DB wise, are out of a plan new star Wars trilogy that had been announced over a year ago. Benioff and Weiss in a statement said, quote, we'd love star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us two gangs to talk about star Wars with him. And the current starch Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime. And we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything. But there are only so many hours in the day. And we felt we could that do justice to both star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we regretfully are stepping aside unquote. Now that trilogy would have been out on December 16th of 2022. This news comes just months after, just a month after, uh, the revelation that Kevin FYGI was developing his own star Wars movies. Uh, Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, did express her appreciation to Benioff and Weiss and hope to do work with them in the future when their schedule schedules aren't so busy.
Speaker 1:
13:06
However, the duo did just sign a five year, $215 million deal with Netflix. So I'm guessing they're going to be tied up for quite some time. Maybe Disney and Lucasfilm should ask for open submissions for the next trilogy. Maybe you have, maybe you have something you want to see. Hmm. Maybe not. Maybe now's the time to the right right hand folks. So, uh, why have so many directors come and gone from the franchise? Apparently the answer might be creative control according to a piece in variety. In the beginning, the film makers were all promised a level of creative control. However, multiple insiders have talked to variety, say that new ideas were commonly shot down as it seems that Kennedy and her team wanted people to stick to the company line. Benioff often wise would have explored the distant past of the star Wars universe to explore how the July became, uh, however the studio and the pairs just start to diverge on their vision for the new trilogy and apparently the final straw was the pair signing that deal with Netflix and Kathleen Kenny believing that they couldn't focus well on both projects at the same time.
Speaker 1:
14:29
Now I'm not going to recap this entire article a is, this is a fascinating article to be sure. We'll have a link to it in our show notes. Now let's go on some star Trek news, a, a lot of Voyager news. This a addition. First off, the captain Janeway Bloomington collective is currently seeking crowd funding support to create a and install a monument to the future Starfleet captain in her future hometown of Bloomington, Indiana. The proposed monument would be a bronze bust of January on a limestone base in the shape of Starfleet insignia with stainless steel plating. Now a I, it will have info on captain Janeway and her backstory and her connection to the town and it would be installed on Bloomington's beeline trailer. The company is sponsored by the, eh, the campaign is sponsored by the Indiana housing and community development authority and is now live on patron Patronicity.
Speaker 1:
15:42
Arson alley leads the campaign with permission from CBS studios. Now, if they achieve their goal of at least $12,500 by December 21st, they'll receive a matching grant from the Indiana housing and community development authority. Now this January, it will be the 25th anniversary of the debut of star Trek Voyager on UPN, U P N. now, uh, right now as of this recording, they're about halfway to their goals. So, uh, there's still time, uh, and you know, just, uh, go over just to go over to the, uh, patron city website and look it up or just, yeah, type it in the Google, Google. It's good for everything. Titan books has announced the autobiography of Kathryn Janeway, the history of the captain who went far further than any had before. The book written by the Admiral and edited by una McCormack written, uh, recalls her journey through the Delta quadrant. The book will come out on July 14th, 2020.
Speaker 1:
16:57
The Titan as also announced. Others start your card covers for 2020 the art of star Trek, discovery by Paula and block and Terry J urban, which will have a cast and crew and uh, interviews, photographs from the set concept art and storyboards with never before seen content from the first two seasons and will come out in April. The 28th of 2020. Now also coming from Titan books is star Trek. The artsy are there. It's hard, hard words to say. Folks. Also coming out from Titan is star Trek, the artistry of Dan Curry written by Dan Curry and Ben Robinson. Now this book covers his Emmy award winning work from the next generation all the way through to start your enterprise. The book will offer look at some of techniques and reflections on highlights from his star Trek career in his own words. The book will have photos and illustrations from mr Curry's own collection and we'll also have contributions from star Trek stars like Michael Dorn and Scott macula. The book goes on sale on September 1st, 2020. Now let's go to geek news.
Speaker 1:
18:17
Amazon's Lord of the rings series. Has a main villain. The series has cast game of Thrones, Joseph Mali according to sources to the Hollywood reporter. Molly is a believed to be playing a character named Orrin. He joins will Poulter and Markella Kevin Ahhh. In the cast production on the show is set. The began in 2020 strangers. Things for season will consist of just eight episodes but the in the next season. But that next season is still a ways off filming. We'll start in January and we'll wrap in August so we won't have a summer premiere like the last season. So maybe a Halloween debut. Hmm.
Speaker 1:
19:05
Netflix has released some preview photos from it's new vampire series V Wars. Based on the book series by Jonathan Mayberry. The series follows a doctor and his best friend who has been transformed to a vampiric predator. Ian Somerhalder plays dr Luther Swann and Adrian Holmes plays Michael Fein. Here's the officials Nabsys, dr Luther Swan and there's a world of untold whore. When the mysterious disease transforms his best friend Michael Fein into a murderous Prather who feeds on other humans. As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures and two opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these vampires. Swan racist against time to understand what's happening will Fain become rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires unquote. Sounds interesting. The 10 episode first season will arrive on Netflix on December 5th just in time for Christmas. And uh, speaking of Netflix, they have renewed Katie Sackhoff series, another life for a second season, the series which Sarah's on sack coughs, astronaut Nico Breckinridge and her crew as they take on a high risk mission to investigate an alien artifact and find extra terrestrial lot intelligence.
Speaker 1:
20:27
The 10 episode season will begin production in 2020 season one is out right now. Disney plus will not rotate its content like other streaming services. Once the service debuts on the 11th a spokesman for Disney plus confirmed to comic book.com let nothing licensed will be rotated each month and nothing for Disney. Disney signature collection will be rotated in our out. Yeah. This is a change from the past when Disney used to bring out a classic movie for a limited time, uh, and then put it back in the quote Disney vault unquote. So, uh, I, you know, you'll be able to watch it forever and ever to ever now. Well, let's get to that interview with the oral associate producer and editor Tom Constantino.
Speaker 4:
21:23
My guest today is part of one of my favorite shows, the oral. He joins us from the Fox studio lot in Los Angeles. Please walk up my associate producer and editor Tom Constantino.
Speaker 5:
21:34
Yes, thank you. Actually they gave me a bump. It's co-producer, hope producer.
Speaker 4:
21:40
Well, congratulations.
Speaker 5:
21:41
Oh yeah, it's just a more, more work. [inaudible]
Speaker 4:
21:44
okay. Now, well, start off by telling us more about yourself and what you do on the show.
Speaker 5:
21:50
Uh, well I, uh, I'm, I'm happy to also be the supervising editor. I started on the pilots and have been here ever since. Um, I'm sort of in charge of all picture cutting and uh, I have some various other responsibilities which some above some of the things with social media, uh, comic con, uh, and a lot of other minutiae that I would never dare to bore you with. But uh, there is a lot, there's a lot of big shows, so there's a lot to do. So we all, it's all hands on deck.
Speaker 4:
22:18
Okay. And what would you say this is the best part of your job?
Speaker 5:
22:22
Best part of my job actually is doing stuff like this, getting, having, having a real time interaction with, um, with uh, people who are very appreciative of the show and just, and, and also the fact that I'm a huge, you know, I mean I'm a huge scifi nerd and star Trek fan and I never thought that this font of useless information somehow earned me a living.
Speaker 4:
22:45
Well, I am deeply honored. Um, now some news dropped yesterday, a deadline.com reported that Ann Winters as joining the cast as a series regular. Can you tell me anything about what her role is on the show?
Speaker 5:
22:58
I, unfortunately, I can't, but she does play an integral part of the show and she's awesome. Uh, sitting behind you. I have some dailies of her and, uh, yeah, we're happy to, happy to have her. Um, but, uh, you know, a contrary to popular opinion. She's not replacing Adrian. That's all I'm going to say. That's that. No, she's a, yeah, she's a, she'll be with us, uh, this season and she's gonna fit right into this crazy cookie munch.
Speaker 4:
23:31
Awesome. And, uh, well, right now, where are you in the filming of the season?
Speaker 5:
23:37
Uh, we are, we are, uh, we're, we're only a few weeks into filming, uh, and we're, uh, you know, we're working on the first episode and some of the, uh, some subsequent other early episodes, uh, were not quite block shooting, but we're trying to, you know, uh, you know, gather as much material as possible. Um, so, uh, yeah, we're, we're basically part of the way through the first episode and some others, not much past the third. Okay. It's a nonlinear answer to a two or a nonlinear question. The, normally I would say, you know, I would have a more definitive answer, but we're, we're trying to gather as much material as possible.
Speaker 4:
24:16
Oh yeah. And, uh, I know, I know you have an, an NDA. There's not really much you can tell us. Is there, is there any way, any kind of a hint you can give up
Speaker 5:
24:28
about anything specifically? Uh, well, I kind of said this before, so I don't want to be cliche, but, uh, you know, a lot of the, a lot of the story threads that people were loving in season two and season one, they will not be forgotten. You know, we're not going to ever be serialized. It's not our, it's not our style, but we, we're not going to forget our history. So I can totally say that. And you know, uh, I, I, this has been said before, but, but it's true. You know, we had an identity part two and uh, tomorrow, sorry, that's tomorrow. That's the 12th day you have a road not taken. You know, we had like two of those and then some other ones, but now we have like seven of them. So awesome. Yeah. So we're bigger.
Speaker 4:
25:15
Okay. And, uh, was camping your favorite episode so far?
Speaker 5:
25:20
Yeah. Ever. Yeah. Uh, you know, it's a fight for me between, I mean, they're, they're all our babies, but, uh, you know, I have a soft spot for the Clare Isaac narrative, so I always will love it into the fold and I'm a happy refrain, but I thought, you know, having to sit on the finale, uh, you know, that was, that was the most gratifying to sort of like live scroll that on Twitter and, and uh, so, so, but, uh, but I mean, as for my soft spot, I would say it's happy. Reframe.
Speaker 4:
25:52
Cool. And, uh, has, as we know, this, uh, third season is going onto Hulu and they sent you some cookies I saw.
Speaker 5:
26:00
Yeah. Oh, good. Oh good. They looked good. Yeah, they're sure. And they were like, they were like a shortbread cookies or something. I got one of the last ones. I didn't even take that picture.
Speaker 4:
26:14
And, uh, also since, uh, Fox has merged with Hulu. Has, has Disney had any kind of contact or influence on the show yet?
Speaker 5:
26:24
Uh, yeah, I wouldn't say influenced, but they've been very receptive. Uh, you know, we had a kickoff meeting with them, sort of catching them up on stuff. I mean, uh, you know, Ms. Mosley business as usual. We, we've been pretty lucky in terms of like, Fox has been really understanding in terms of, you know, what the show is and how much larger it can be than sort of network shows. And that's why they kind of, you know, allowed the Hulu transition. And um, yeah, I mean there hasn't been any sort of like, you know, any, I mean, I think people make bigger, not you personally, but they make bigger stories or like, you know, like, Oh my God, the corporate overlords are coming in. No, no, it's not, you know, it's not like that. I mean, there's definitely infrastructure changes and really boring stuff, but everyone's been pretty supportive so far. I, it's, it's, you know, it's hard to, it's hard to deny cause I've heard of other situations, but now granted we're early into it. I mean, who knows? Ask me again in a year.
Speaker 4:
27:18
Okay. And, uh, well since you're under the Disney umbrella, the Muppets are also under that Disney umbrella as well. Could you see other Muppets or than Kermit show up on the show, perhaps in the environment simulator?
Speaker 5:
27:30
Oh my God. I don't know if we've ever, ever explored that a, I think we did get Carmen cleared. Um, I think there's probably some legal loopholes we've got to get through, but I would also say that we probably have some other, probably pretty fun guest stars and other things before we'll get to the Kermit stuff and the miss piggy stuff. However, that would be awesome to recreate that in the simulator.
Speaker 4:
27:52
Yeah. You don't want, you know, I like to see, I'd like to see ed jamming before off the dog. Really? Yeah, I'll mention that to set up. Yeah, that would, I think would be, that would be a really cool combo right there. I love Raul. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
Speaker 5:
28:08
Originally. I mean, I'm assuming, I'm assuming maybe we can do, maybe we can link some of them with pigs in space or something and then we're like, we're like [inaudible]
Speaker 4:
28:16
Ooh, that'd be, that'd be cool right there. That'd be awesome. Um, okay, now you're, you're in your third season. Do you see, could you see any chance of an Oroville movie in the far future?
Speaker 5:
28:29
Yeah, I mean, be honest if, if, if everyone's willing and Seth is, it's really, if Seth has an enum and, and, and the fates are right, sure. Why not? I think we're all open. We're all here as a labor of love. So I would imagine if, if he wanted to do it and people wanted to pay for it, that we would all stick around and try and, you know, blow people's socks off for two hours and some odd minutes.
Speaker 4:
28:52
All right, now I rule it out. Now let's take a take a turn into merchandising here. Now the Oracle has a comic books from dark horse comics and they've been very well received. Are there any plans for a novel based on the series?
Speaker 5:
29:10
Yeah, that's pretty novel. You know, I will, I will get you an answer. I don't, I have not heard anything about a novel. I know that there might be more things in the vein of comic books, but if anywhere person were to do it, it would be, it would be Mr. David Goodman, Uber talented David Goodman. So next time I see him I will ask him, which will probably be tomorrow because I'll see him on set. Cool. But that's a good question. I actually actually don't know. You know, we're just starting to see fan films, which is exciting. So I'm just going to have that
Speaker 4:
29:40
[inaudible] cause cause that would, that would really go over well with me. I love, I love the old star Trek novels really back in the day and, and the oral would seem like something that would go great with a novel.
Speaker 5:
29:52
Well, I think the comic was that basic idea, but I could imagine a world where, you know, where that, that can happen. But, uh, I, it's funny, it's one of those, it's one of the few loopholes. I haven't really, one of the things I haven't really heard much about or been involved or there's toys and other things come on away, but, uh, that I will check into.
Speaker 4:
30:12
Excellent. And finally, what is your favorite scifi show? Other than the waterfall? I'll start Galactica.
Speaker 5:
30:25
I rarely have a visual aid, but you happen that I don't know if you time that, but yeah, yeah, no, I mean, of course I love star Wars and you know, all these old star Wars and uh, I mean, I, I mean as fan fantas like some more obscure stuff, but uh, you know, like the black hole and stuff. But, but the, uh, more than anything, these guys also have dug director that in the hall. He gave me this. So cool. You know, that's the most exciting thing so far of being able to interact with my, I don't want to make them that much older than me, my Charlotte hero, but my hero of postproduction and makeup. So yes, I would say BSG.
Speaker 4:
31:06
Alright, awesome. Well, thank you very much for your time, Tom. And the,
Speaker 5:
31:10
I'm saying this publicly, apologize about the fires last week. Kind of screwed up our last meeting.
Speaker 4:
31:16
Oh, that's it. That's okay. You know, I hope you and everyone out there stay safe during the wildfire season. And uh, I hope we can talk again once the Orville Orville debuts on Hulu next year.
Speaker 5:
31:28
Yes, please. We'd love to, I'll bring, I'll bring some friends. We'll do, we'll do some more and uh, but before then I will definitely get you to answer about the novels.
Speaker 4:
31:35
Oh, cool. Thank you. Thank you very much. Do you have a good one? You too. We'll talk soon. All right, bye.
Speaker 1:
