Hello, folks, and welcome to this edition of Multiverse Tonight. I'm of course your host, Thomas Townley. And if you're watching the video, you might notice over my shoulder that it says 5 18 p.m. Yeah, I've basically spent all afternoon trying to track down a problem here. So, and I've already recorded this once. So instead of you know going through the whole thing again, which took about 30 minutes, I'm gonna try to speed read my uh my show. So let's go on with the Star Wars news. To mark the 50th anniversary of s of the original Star Wars coming out in theaters in 1977, the uh film will be presenting a newly restored version, ensuring that the cinematic experience is fresh and impactful as it was five decades ago. The classic movie, initially released as simply Star Wars and later retelled Star Wars and New Hope, will uh to uh schedule to return to theaters everywhere, giving fans, both old and new, a chance to see where it belongs. The special engagement is set to begin on February 19th, 2027. If you'd like to buy me my cryp my my birthday present, now's the time. Uh kicking off the anniversary festive festivities and allowing audiences worldwide to once again witness the tale of the Fire and Boy, the Princess's scoundrel, and the two androids changing the fate of a galaxy. Uh there'll be other celebrations uh that year as well, and we'll find those out later. On to next one. Star Wars Faith of the Old Republic was unveiled at the 2025 Game Awards. Now, this game, uh developed in partnership with Lucasfilm Games, comes from a Arcanaut Studios as described as a narrative-driven single-player action RPG where players take on the role of Force User in the Galaxy on the Brink of Change. Which when isn't the Star Wars Galaxy on the Brink of Change? Um now they're very happy to be working on this game, but uh don't hold your don't hold your breath yet. This game will not be out for quite some time, think 2030s. Now let's go on to the Marvel news. In anticipation of Adventures Doomsday set for December 18th. Also being released around that time, and August 7th will be star will be Supertroopers 3, which uh will be the same as Super Troopers 2, 1 and 2. There you go. Let's go on to the Geek News. Dogma, the Kevin Smith uh movie about uh Catholicism, has been re-released on 4K Blu-ray. Now uh this has been a long time coming, of course. Uh the film was held hostage by the wine by Harvey Weinstein, who owned Miramax, who was company controlled Miramax. So uh luckily a company a company stepped in and has gotten it back for them. So the first ever Blu-ray from Lions Gate was released, as well as a short term a short run in theaters, as well, and a parents of the can film festival. Now there's uh other the other uh things in the works for Kevin Smith, including uh Twilight of the Mulra of the Mulrats, which is still it's been blocked for 10 years, so uh it's it coming to fruition is neither here nor there. So we'll just have to wait to see. Uh Jane Bob, Jane Silent Bob's Star Wars, the third film was supposed to shoot earlier this year, but was derailed due to financing being withdrawn. So uh hopefully he'll get that shot next year with new funding. He uh took it personally, saying that he felt responsible for not being financially successful enough to uh have to fund his own art. And also, he's back on the cannabis. So uh get ready for more goofy uh skylarkings. Anyway, let's go on to our next story. Uh Disney has made a significant commitment to artificial intelligence, securing the most noble collaboration between a Hollywood studio and an AI company to date. This move signals Disney's acceptance of AI. Now, uh, this was an investment in uh open of$1 billion in OpenAI. The deal establishes Disney as a major customer, intending to use OpenAI's tool technology to develop new project products, tools, and experiences, including for Disney Plus and deploy Chat GPT for employees. Now, uh the biggest part of this is opting into their Sora 2, which uh Disney is opting in becoming the first major content licensing partner. The deal permits Sora users to create personalized short-form fan video using text prompts and a vast selection of Disney Marvel and Lucasfilm characters, including those from Frozen Star Wars, Captain America, Yoda, etc., etc., etc. Now, a selection of those videos are expected to stream with Disney Plus. Now, both companies have affirmed the commitment to protecting creators and maintaining robust controls against illegal and harmful content. In other words, you're not gonna get uh X-rated content or even R-rated content from these, most likely. So, you know, use your time wisely, folks. And uh so they're very happy with this. Let's go on to the next story. Netflix and Warner Brothers have announced a agreement where Netflix will buy Warner Brothers, including the film intelligence studios, the HBO Max and HBO. Uh, this was worth about$82.7 billion for the enterprise value and$72 billion for the equity. This announcement is uh alongside a competing bid from Paramount Skydance, which is more of a hostile takeover. And uh they'll put that to shareholders. Now the cash and stock transactions are valuing WBD shares at$27.75 per share. Uh the completion of the deal is cut is uh conditional, and the spinoff is currently projected to be for Discovery Global Networks, would be third quarter of 2026, with the subsequent close of this deal in 12 to 18 months. Request with WBD shareholders and regulatory clearances, which there's already you know balk balking at from all sorts. Uh everyone seems to be against this. Frankly, I like I would rather Netflix have it than Paramount at this point. And with that, let's uh head on over to our final bit of news. Jim Ward, the hugely talented Emmy Award-winning voice actor and master impressionist, passed away at the age of 66.
