Welcome to episode seven of my Zen pet, the first podcast with music, for pets and their people.
(00:23):
Hi, I'm Lisa Spector, your pet calming Maestro.
(00:27):
Today. I'm going to play a French composition for you. But before I get to that at the piano, I'm going to share a really short training tip.
(00:35):
Last time we talked about a silent hike with my dogs. One of the most connecting experiences I've ever had with them. This time, I'm going to talk about intentional walks, Gina, and I take a variety of walks along with a variety of paths that we walk on.
(00:52):
Sometimes she's leashed. Sometimes she's not least depending on where we are. I do my best to create an intention around the walk.
(01:00):
Is this a walk where I am just going to let her sniff as much as she wants? Is this a walk where we're really going to practice our recalls a lot? Is this a walk where we're going to be intentional about training? Maybe something like hurry. Cause there are many times in life I need to have her hurry to relieve and I don't want to put her in the situation where that's done, where I'm really in a hurry. So I practice being in a hurry.
(01:28):
It often happens at agility trials when the schedule changes and you need to get your dog out of the crate and relieve, and you don't have much time and you really want them relieving before they take their run. So I don't put that pressure on her at the agility trial, we practice that other times.
(01:47):
So there's lots of ways you can make up of what intention do you have on your walks?
(01:52):
Today's melody is one of my favorite French compositions for Faure Après un rêve, After a dream. It was published in 1878 and originally written as a song for voice transcribed often for cello and now for piano.
(02:07):
After a dream and I hope it puts your dogs and you in a dreamlike state enjoy
