When Zionists Say: “Pray for The Peace Of Israel”

Well, let’s read the verse and see what they are misquoting:

Psalms 122:6 “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Those who love you will prosper.”

But Why, To What End, And What Is The Reason For This Peace?

Psalms 122:9 “For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.”

In this verse, we are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem for the sake of the house of God, not for Israel in general. Peace is requested for those who love God to prosper, and for the Temple’s sake. This is not for Israel the nation, nor for people who do not love God or value God.

How can you love God, if you do not love His Son? For their rebellion, we told in scripture to not pray for them. God will not hear these prayers because of their rebellion and sin. So if people want to pick one verse out of context, and hammer everyone in the head with it, then share the following counter verses:

To the contrary, God tells the Israelites to pray for the peace of the cities that they are held captive in as punishment from God.

Jeremiah 29:7 “Seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace.”

What does God call Jerusalem now?

Revelation 11:8 “Their dead bodies will be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their /our Lord was crucified.”

Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless those that bless you and curse the one who curses you. And in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

    Often they use transference to what is applied to faithful Abraham and then try to apply it to all his descendants, even if they have rejected God and His Son Jesus. 

The real question here is: who then is Israel? 

Genesis 15:5 “Yahweh brought him outside, and said, “Look now toward the sky, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” He said to Abram, “So will your offspring  [seed] be.”

Abraham was also told that “ALL Nations” will be blessed through him.

Genesis 22:18 “And in your Seed shall all the [Gentile] nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

So, how exactly was this promise applied?

Galatians 3:6-9 “Even as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”  (7)  Know therefore that those who are of faith, the same are children of Abraham.  (8)  The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News [Gospel] beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”  (9)  So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.”

All those stars represented are all nations and peoples who believed in Jesus.

Galatians 3:26-29 “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  (27)  For as many as were baptized into Christ, you put on Christ.  (28)  There cannot be Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is no male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  (29)  And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.”
