House of Tolerance & I Am a Sex Addict (with Felix Dembinski)

Felix is back - graciously agreeing to discuss a pair of my own choosing. We examine the rituals around sex work, from both sides of the exchange.  Although I picked this for the tail-end of "Ritual", this pairing could equally have come under our next season "Memory".

House of Tolerance (2011) Behind the lush production design of Bertrand Bonello's detailed study of life in a brothel circa 1899 lies a world of precarity and pain. As the new century dawns, the fragile ecosystem the women occupy begins to disintegrate.

I Am a Sex Addict (2005) Cinema Rising favourite Caveh Zahedi leaves it all on the screen as he delves into his "prostitute fetish". It's painful, but incredibly funny - like all Zahedi's work.
