Welcome to High Lowbrow. The show with high-brow takes on lowbrow culture. I'm your one host, amanda Scrabber.
Speaker 2And I am the eco-friendly wood veneers to your galvanized square steel River Gilbert.
Speaker 1Those were a lot of words.
Speaker 2Are you not on galvanized square steel talk?
Speaker 1I feel like you ask me this question so many times.
Speaker 2And I'm like Sorry, I thought you were also mentally unwell.
Speaker 1I mean, I feel like I am another kind of mentally unwell, but not that kind. I'm the mentally unwell that's sending you those like weird.
Speaker 2Oh, like the internet interdimensional cable style stuff.
Speaker 1Yeah, I'm the mentally unwell that's sending you the TikToks of hot dogs just floating in the air. Yeah, yeah yeah, and you're like, please get this off my timeline.
Speaker 2We both have brain rot. It's just different degrees of brain rot.
Speaker 1Yeah, different variations. Different variations and I feel like both are valid and fair.
Speaker 2Both are valid and fair.
Speaker 1And you know. But like, tell me more about this galvanized steel. And why should I care? You shouldn't?
Speaker 2Oh great, I just thought it was a fun little way to introduce myself, yeah.
Speaker 1To talk to the youths. I'm cool yeah.
Speaker 2How do you do, fellow kids, how do?
Speaker 1you do fellow kids Literally every, I think every weekend. For the last, however long I've been like, I feel like I don't get the kids anymore and I felt like I was cool. But I no longer feel like I'm cool, Because what is cool anymore?
Speaker 2I mean, it's the Abe Simpson quote of I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, and now what I'm with isn't it anymore. And what is? It is strange and scary.
Speaker 1And I feel like, by saying that out loud, definitely is, is me admitting that I'm old?
Speaker 2well, yeah, I mean, like we both wear like I, I've always worn crew socks, but like I bought ankle socks this week I know which definitely means that I am not not cool but to to the point of ankle socks.
Speaker 1I bought these cute oxfords. When you like, we went shopping together yeah and I was just like I'm sorry, but I'm not wearing fucking knee-high gym socks with oxfords, well, oxfords, I.
Speaker 2I remember distinctly my, my uncle. When one of my cousins was wearing ankle socks, he was like, ugh, you're wearing girl socks. So this is just. It alternates generations.
Speaker 1Right, and I mean I think also like I do have you know those knee-high sort of gym socks. It's not knee-high, they're just crew.
Speaker 2Whatever God, not knee-high, they're just crew. Whatever God, you're so old, you're so cringe, god. It's like you're not even a fully conscious baby.
Speaker 1Are we going to the Four Seasons Orlando now?
Speaker 2I know.
Speaker 1But like I have those, but they're for specific types of outfits, they're not for everything Like fuck.
Speaker 2I will die on this sock hill. Old man yells at cloud. I am so that so I had an idea for a segment that would just be really fun and light because, like I mentioned, you seem to be in a constant state of realizing that I have this weird past and history of things that I've had interests in.
Speaker 1Okay, yes, that's true, Like that one time where I was like oh yeah, I found my magic cards and you thought it was Magic the Gathering.
Speaker 2But no, it was just straight up magic, illusions, illusions, michael.
Speaker 1Yeah, I was like who are you, who are you?
Speaker 2So in efforts to try to break that down and maybe get some suggestions from our listeners, I figured we have this new segment called what's making your brain go burr, where we just talk about what's making our brain go burr.
Speaker 1So I feel like you should kick it off. Oh my God, okay.
Speaker 2So this week, what's making my brain go burr is I've been listening to a lot of Japanese metal. Okay, yeah, yeah, so it started. That sounded very like lot of Japanese metal. Okay, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah so it started that sounded very like me laughing at Japanese like, but no, I'm just like, it's so random.
Speaker 2It's well, this is what I mean. So it started when I got introduced on TikTok to a band called Naction, and then my Spotify just started feeding me various other things because I have some. I had some previously established Japanese metal on my playlist.
Speaker 1Well, and that is how the Spotify AI works.
Speaker 2It's like you listen to one.
Speaker 1they're like oh, baby, it seems like you really like this. We're going to feed you more, yeah, so.
Speaker 2I've been listening to a lot of Lady Baby and a lot of Maximum the Hormone, some Deer on Grey, and one I really like is uh Midori, okay, um, excuse me, my Japanese is poor.
Speaker 1You are you. You are being bullied by the duo Owl every day to improve your Japanese.
Speaker 2Yeah. So I would expect more of you just saying I think the song that kicked it off for me was uh Yukiko-sen by uh Midori. I think the song that kicked it off for me was Yukiko-sen by Midori. It's not in English so it will be hard for our listeners to look it up. I literally did not think it would be in. English Lady Baby is oh okay, what's been making your brain go, brr?
Speaker 1Well, it's very funny because you were like Japanese metal and then I was just going to bring up a TikTok sound.
Speaker 2I mean, hey, that's, echolalia is like a legit thing that makes brain go brr.
Speaker 1Is it echolalia or echolalia?
Speaker 2I think it's like tomato, tomato. Okay, got it.
Speaker 1Anyways, if you are listening to this and you are familiar with Nicola Cooligan from Bridgerton Now the other week I don't really watch what happens live all the time, but she was on because apparently she's a huge like she loves the housewives, she loves Vanderpump Rules Into the BCU.
Speaker 1Yeah, she is all in on Bravo anyways. I guess she did an interview for hey you or something and she said she really wanted to make a song, like Countess Luann and some user on TikTok his name is Ellis We'll have to link to it in our show notes. He remixed it into a house remix where she's just saying caviar shoes.
Speaker 2Shoes private yacht caviar more shoes.
Speaker 1Shoes caviar private yacht, more shoes.
Speaker 2I think she describes it as one of those songs exclusively for gay men where they just list things off yeah, well, that's basically all countess luann does like.
Speaker 1Countess luann her entire like career money can't buy you class hello banger like I. Like, it's just like saying things yeah, and then putting a beat behind yeah anyways, I'm just like, oh my god, I just want to go out and dance in the street to this and get feral. That is like what I want. Yeah, all I want.
Speaker 1Well, I mean, at your roots, you are a gay man, so I mean, yeah, it's true, 100%, so that and and yeah, there's been another, another million dollar baby. Has this been on your? I feel like I get all the like dancey things.
Speaker 2Million dollar baby. I ain't never been a saint. Oh yeah, Million dollar baby. Yeah, I got million dollar baby and Hollywood baby by 100 gecs mixed up and those are different.
Speaker 1They're very different, but I feel like I get all the like dancey things. Yeah, I like. I get all all the like dancey TikTok creator people who like make dances and like do, like that. I wish I could be that and instead I'm just like your atypical white person who doesn't know how to dance and has zero coordination.
Speaker 2Wears ankle socks, except in certain circumstances. Doesn't know about galvanized square steel and eco-friendly wood veneers. Who am I? You are, you used to be cool man.
Speaker 1I used to be cool. And now, where am I? I'm here.
Speaker 2But you're here. And what are we talking about this week? Oh, we're talking about Vanderpump.
Speaker 1Rules and that's cool.
Speaker 2Yeah, sure, sure. So we're breaking our silence now that all three episodes have aired.
Speaker 1Yeah, we took Lauren from Utah's advice and watched all three episodes of the reunion before we spoke out on it. Unlike some people who decided to do recaps after every single episode.
Speaker 2So, and I feel like we went into it thinking that there was going to be something that happened, where we were like, oh my God, maybe Ariana is the villain.
Speaker 1Well, and the other thing too is and I think I mentioned this on our last episode that there was conspiracy theories happening that like, oh, they're going to show them the last 15 minutes of the episode because they hadn't seen it.
Speaker 1Yep, and then Ariana's going to decide that she's done with the show and they haven't announced it. You know, there's's just, there were all these things, this frenzy happening, and then because lala had unfollowed ariana and katie afterwards, so there was just like so much and then also not a conspiracy theory that, but before the reunion, or sorry, the finale reunion episodes had aired, andy Andy Cohen had gone on Radio Andy and also on Watch what Happens Live and had said Lala is the voice of reason.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's how we introduced her at the finale as well, was the voice of reason of the season.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah so. Like you can't see it, but my eyes are rolling so far back into my head, so yeah, we've watched it, like because we're like there are always two sides to every story, and like maybe something will happen, and like it will make, if not paint Ariana as the villain, at least make us go. Oh, you know what? That's a really fair point that they bring up.
Speaker 1And, to be fair, the season finale happened and we were team Ari. We were like, yeah, of course she didn't want to have that conversation with Tom, like this was never about her, it was always for the cameras. I, if I was her, I would be like fuck these people, fuck my friends. Like I just want to, like, live my truth like the only.
Speaker 2The only point this season where I was like that didn't make ariana look great was when she screamed at tom to get the fuck away from her. Like well, she was at that house party with james's place, and is that?
Speaker 1when she was angry about and she said that Tom almost killed Maya. I think so, yeah, I mean they both had there was issue Like she left the food out but like and again we.
Speaker 2In context, this has been three months since the the the affair aired, aired so like this is fresh in her mind, so I think that's a totally reasonable reason to act like that absolutely like I'm like. I think I said to you I'm like after my like bad breakup, when that shit happened, I responded in a worse way, so like, yeah, we.
Vanderpump Rules Season 9 Review
Speaker 1And the other thing, too is like we are allowed to have emotional responses like that when something terrible has happened, so like Ariana's feelings are, her feelings and her responses in those situations are valid. So nobody is taking that away. Let's get to the actual, you know, reunion. So the first episode. I want to say right off the bat I felt like this did not need to be three episodes. Oh, my god. Well, that was the thing I was. This did not need to be three episodes oh my god.
Speaker 2Well, that was the thing I was like. Oh, it's three episodes. Clearly there's like gonna be a very big through line and I'm just sitting here trying to think of like, hey, what the hell happened in the first episode. It's like they could have had this as maybe two episodes or, more realistically, an hour and a half long finale.
Speaker 1Yeah, absolutely. And not only did it not need to be three episodes, there were just so many moments where, like Tom Sandoval, made inappropriate comments.
Speaker 2Several very like because he they asked him if he was hooking up with Sheena and he was like I woke up with like a condom in my ass and something and it's like what's the joke?
Speaker 1here is the joke that sheena has a penis like yeah, or like he's like that inappropriate uncle that you have and you're like, oh, get bad vibes like I. He just kept saying things and it's like they tried the production, the show tried to create this redemption arc for him through the entire season and it just never came to fruition it never landed they wanted us to to turn on Ariana so much, but it's like you backed the wrong.
Speaker 2You backed the wrong, bravo horse.
Speaker 1Yeah, so there was that, there was that there was.
Speaker 2we had Jo on and Jo got to speak about her relationship with Schwartz.
Speaker 1Yeah, I thought it was very interesting that Jo came on. We finally got to see Schwartz for who he is, which I think it's been interesting because it seems by the entire Bravo fan base and I don't know if Jo is as bad as everybody thinks I think that she is weird, she's definitely weird. I do not get good vibes from her.
Speaker 2I don't either.
Speaker 1But I also do think that there is some neurodivergent things happening there, like I think that she may be like, because I think she talked about being ADHD. I think she may be odd ADHD, so she may be on this spectrum of sorts, and she doesn't actually pick up on cues.
Speaker 2She gives like back in the early aughts we would have called it manic pixie dream girl energy, yeah. But like she also seems to have a bad radar for people. Like she went on Rachel's podcast and aired out all her dirty laundry with Schwartz. Schwartz then went on another podcast and was like she's compulsive liar.
Speaker 1and here's sort of the timeline for it yeah, and, and to be fair, there is his truth, her truth and something in the middle and I don't think we will ever know.
Speaker 2No, like from from an outsider's perspective, I'm like, oh, he just doesn't like her like that, uh, and won't say it explicitly and she can't pick up on cues, yeah because I think even just within this week she posted some photo of them on her ig stories and then was like I just really miss him.
Speaker 1and it's like girl, he doesn't like you, he has a partner.
Speaker 2He has a partner. You're pushing him away Like. This is messy.
Speaker 1Yeah, You're going to have to like, let that one go.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And what's kind of funny about this is that at the reunion Katie I don't think Katie like quote unquote apologized to her but said that she didn't like what she saw Schwartz doing to her, yeah, and that she felt badly for kind of how she treated her.
Speaker 2And again, I don't think that. The only thing that I think Katie did wrong was that one episode where they were all like, and I think Sheena did worse by Joe in that episode.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I think even Schwartz or it was someone else was like what Katie has said here is basically the most of an apology that you're ever going to get.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And Joe was like I don't, like I don't accept this and it's like you don't have to accept it, but I think you have to acknowledge.
Speaker 2I mean, she doesn't have to do anything, but I think that her hoping that she's going to get more of an apology or have any kind of closure with Katie is just as likely as her ending up with Schwartz it's not going to happen. It'sartz, it's not going to happen.
Speaker 1It's not. It's not going to happen.
Speaker 2She can't manifest that.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's like it's not going to happen. One and two. Katie is essentially validating what you experienced, because it's the exact same thing that she experienced with Schwartz Not a one-to-one.
Speaker 2But he gaslights. He's a manipulator. It's weird because I'm jumping all over the place, but because we're talking about Schwartz, he's the first, and possibly only Vanderpump cast, who has gone to something about her and showed his support.
Speaker 2Yes so and like, at the end of the finale he was like trying to like re-establish some kind of. He was like you know what guys, like I know, like we've been through hell and like this is hard, but like I love you guys, you're my family, and like it sucks that this has happened to us and it really feels like he's exhibiting the behavior that Lala is expecting Ariana to exhibit yes. That Lala is also not exhibiting.
Speaker 1Yeah, well, I think so. Schwartz and they talked about this throughout the season had like a really bad year?
Speaker 2Yeah, wasn't it one of his? Like siblings dying, yes, or in Reno, yes.
Speaker 1His, his brother burt like was an alcoholic. I think I saw on either schwartz's instagram or his brother like he had three liver transplants jesus christ. I thought somebody else had cancer I think one of us, like I think, might have also like his family was not.
Speaker 2Not, it was a bad year for Schwartz.
Speaker 1Yeah, and so I think between everything that was happening with his family, everything that was happening with the bar, like just and I think this also sort of is kind of is why Schwartz was so angry at sandoval too, because when schwartz really needed sandoval the most, he just kind of fucked off with the band we, we can, we can grant schwartz the same grace that we can grant ariana, where it is like you had a shit situation.
Speaker 2Yeah, and I do think in a lot of points in the season he showed a lot of growth, like his relationship with katie yep, where he was like he said, like we have nothing. But what would you say to a one-night stand where we just sort of hang out, watch funny videos and buy like 200 dollars worth of candy and just eat that in bed?
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2And I was like, and they like got lunch and I'm like this feels like more of like a brother sister relationship and I feel like that was always their relationship, Like Katie was definitely taking care of him.
Speaker 1Well, and I think at the end in the third sort of episode, they sort of like said something Katie and Schwartz said like you know, they have that friendship now, like they always will have that love for one another but, not, they don't love each other anymore. So I think there was that point where they were. Katie was like listen, you gotta like fuck right off, get out of my life.
Speaker 2I don't want you in it.
Speaker 1Yeah, but I think there has been a repair there.
Speaker 2I think so too it's taken time.
Speaker 1It's taken like yeah space.
Speaker 2Should we talk about Shishu?
Speaker 1Shishu and Lauren from Utah.
Vanderpump Rules Reunion Discussion
Speaker 2I feel like we need to talk about Shishu and Brock Before we talk about Lauren from Utah, because I feel like we're going. I saw somebody's Cast ranking bottom to top and last place was obviously Tom Sandoval, then second last was Lauren from Utah, and then Sheena James Kennedy, ariana Katie, and I agree with that.
Speaker 1I think I would tend to agree with that.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1I mean I gotta admit Lauren and Tom Sandoval are kind of fighting for last at this point, kinda Like which is weird.
Speaker 2It's so wild Like I mean, I've always, like we've talked about this. I've always got weird vibes from Lala where I'm like it feels like she's obfuscating in a way that is manipulative, yes, and not she like goes in and be, like you're not being honest, like you're not being honest either, or, if you are, you're not being vulnerable enough to be honest.
Speaker 1Well, and I think too, too, it's on her terms. She wants people to be honest on her terms and how she sees it, which it's kind of like this isn't your show.
Speaker 2Yeah, I guess I guess we have to talk about la la if we're going to talk about sheena yeah, I feel like they're kind of a package they are a package deal.
Speaker 1They remind me of the like evil sisters and cinderella I was just about to say that okay, so what were your thoughts on shishu brock lala?
Speaker 2I thought brock needs to shut the fuck up the entire season.
Speaker 1Literally. Who asked for Brock's opinion period?
Speaker 2On anything.
Speaker 1And I feel maybe I just blacked out, I feel like he didn't give too many opinions during the reunion.
Speaker 2I don't think he did. I think he criticized Schwartz for basically putting thoughts into Sheena's mind about because she watched him destroy Katie's confidence over the past decade. Oh, okay, but besides that, yeah, brock needs to shut the fuck up. He I like his fashion sense, like I feel like he's had a glow up this year?
Speaker 1Yeah, he has. I also think it's interesting because when he does speak you can tell he's like fighting. If we were talking about Real Housewives, you know, if it's New York, they get an apple. If it's Atlanta, they're getting a peach. If it's New York, they get an apple. If it's Atlanta, they're getting a peach.
Speaker 1He's fighting for his fucking life to get whatever, like a drink the glass yeah whatever they're, you know he's fighting for his life to get his name in the title credits and it's like guy, we don't want you. Also, when he had that conversation with Ariana and he's like they were talking about male rage.
Speaker 2Oh, my God.
Speaker 1And he was just like clueless. I also think that a lot of the scenes between him and Sheena like, do I think that their relationship is not 100% solid because they fight all the fucking time? Yes, 100 solid because they fight all the fucking time? Yes, but do I feel like it was like amped up for the cameras? Also, yes, because maybe well, here's the thing every single cast member has been like brock and sheena are made for each other.
Speaker 1Oh, they, literally they same brand of crazy I think same brand of crazy, but also they're just like thirsty, like oh yeah, that's fair to be famous and like. Here's the thing I think and I think we've talked about this before sheena in brock found someone who supports her in the sense of she just wants everybody, she wants to be the center of attention.
Speaker 2She wants to be loved, she wants to be the center of attention, and she found somebody who will cater to her fully. Yes, yeah.
Speaker 1And like he too wants. He wants that, but he gets to support her in that and he can be beside her yes, yeah, he doesn't like he can be the center, but off center yeah oh, the one other thing that I remember about brock this season, especially in the reunion, was they were andy.
Speaker 2Everyone actually was criticizing dan for coming to san francisco and then not showing up, and ari's defense was he's not getting paid, why the fuck would he do this? And then Andy was like well, brock didn't get paid for the first season he was on and it's like, okay, good for Brock, yeah, like Once again, brock is thirsty, yeah, and just wants to be famous. Not to mention Dan was on this season.
Speaker 1Yeah, like I don't know what they're talking like yeah, so he was on enough for like his comfort, yeah, and what he wanted to again like getting grilled by Lala. Yeah, and like it just felt like the last little bit was about boundaries and pushing them and not respecting them, and I think to me the reunion felt like lauren, and mostly lauren, not so much sheena.
Speaker 2Sheena seemed like scared oh my god, that one screenshot, when they were like we're gonna show you the last five minutes, and she was like, oh shit yeah, oh no it's going to be the consequences of my actions.
Speaker 1I should talk to my friend Whoops, but basically, you know, it seemed like production just wanted to bully Ariana.
Speaker 2They were really pushing a narrative. They're really. Yeah, it was a very gross feeling. Speaking of gross, we need to talk about specifically about Lala. To talk about specifically about Lala, like because she, her whole thing was. I don't care if you don't like this show or if it doesn't mean anything to you.
Speaker 1You have to care because it's my livelihood yeah, and I don't know why Ariana is dependent on Lala and Sheena getting a paycheck just because, like I don't know if they forgot that this is a reality tv show and it could be canceled at any time, for any reason like it almost was canceled before Scandafold happened and, like I mean Ariana said it best was.
Speaker 2I think that me walking out was a better ending for the season to guarantee you a next season, rather than me sitting there and having that conversation that I didn't want to have. Yeah, because she would have just gray rocked and been like are you done? Yeah, and then left for applebee's, yeah like girl, are you okay?
Speaker 1like, I'm sorry, it doesn't fit your narrative, yeah, but like here, for those who are big fans of vader, pump rules.
Speaker 2It's like lala is a walking talking revisionist history oh my god exactly because she literally has done these things herself exactly this, like, and when you try, even this season, when you're like, but you did the exact same thing, she just stands up and gets all channels her reincarnation of tupac, and which, if you didn't know, she had literally said she is the reincarnation of Tupac and which, if you didn't know, she had literally said she is the reincarnation of Tupac yeah, I was in a Jenny McCarthy podcast interview yeah some years ago, not this year no either way, there's actually a really good youtuber, tiktoker.
Speaker 1They're also on Instagram. I think I showed you one of their videos, but their name is Christina Coco or Coco.
Speaker 2Christina Coco.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, their handle is Coco Ma Coco. I hope I'm pronouncing it.
Speaker 2Probably not. Probably not, Historically no.
Speaker 1No, we'll drop it in the show notes, but they have been doing all these sort of week like they put together clips from all the seasons and they put one together of one. They put one together of Joe, of all the times she saidala, like all of her revisionist history, sort of like the times that she has sort of done all the things that she's calling out ariana for yeah so literally like 10 out of 10, no notes.
Speaker 1If you like, we could sit here and talk about it, but it's more impactful if you go watch those yeah you gotta go watch those because literally Lala has zero to stand on. She's literally done all of this.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1And I know you haven't watched it, okay, but this season of Summer House just ended this week. I watched the season finale this morning and in the season finale we knew because it was like Oliver, but like Lindsay and Carl ended their engagement, they broke off Like they ended. Like they ended like they were like we're not getting married and it was huge news. It was like not the same level of Scandival but, like it was.
Speaker 1It was just as impactful for the Brahmaverse. But in in watching the finale, all of the girls from Summer House basically came together and they like took care of lindsey and were just like, hey, like this really sucks. But just know that, like carl, breaking off the engagement, did you a favor. You guys were not like in a good place, you like and we love you and we're here for you.
Speaker 2I mean, it sounds like they're not a cast full of male sympathizers.
Speaker 1Well, and that's just it. So there's been so many people and I agree with this, there's been so many people being like. This is how you actually show girl power. This is how you actually say like. You're not saying like, oh, we support the man. In all of this. You're showing empathy for both people in the situation Because, at the end of the day, they are all still going to be friends, and that's how you do that, because their relationship having watched the entire season spoiler alert both of them did shitty things. It was not great. And at the beginning of the season, I was like Ooh, I'm team Carl here. And then, at the end of the season, I was like Ooh, was he the one who had struggled with addiction?
Speaker 1Yes, Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2Wow, that's a shocking turnaround, because she was not good from the clips that I saw.
Speaker 1Yeah. So I mean, I think that's the thing is that, like, both of them did not handle the situation very well. It was a relationship that just needed to end. So I think that's the thing is that, like you, there are ways to sort of produce and handle those situations without sympathizing for males yeah and like still being there for your friends as people which is not what they did. I think you were like we talk about alex baskin, who's the producer I was gonna.
Speaker 2Well, before we talked about that, I was like I was like of course we have to talk about alex baskin and at least vanderpump, the real villains of the season. But then I was like, oh my god, we didn't talk about jamesaskin and at least Vanderpump, the real villains of the season. But then I was like, oh my god, we didn't talk about James Kennedy. Oh yeah.
Speaker 1I'm galloping in front of you, bro.
Speaker 2I feel like the reason that we didn't talk about James Kennedy is because the same guy who was rating them bottom to top was like he felt kind of like a friend of this season and he really did. He had a great plot point with getting hippie yep uh, and I loved that for him and I loved him in the after show where he was like he was the voice of reason of the season literally.
Speaker 1He was the only man who was like tom sandoval's a dick yeah and like saw right through everything yeah, and ariana has every single right to be mad at him. Yeah, and I. He can be nice to me and that's fine, but I do not accept any of this.
Speaker 2Absolutely so.
Speaker 1I think that's all we have to say about james that's all like I, I like and I know there's been allegations about him being abusive we would would be remiss not to mention that Currently just allegations.
Speaker 2There's no receipts, there's no.
Speaker 1I mean, let's be honest, I'm sure that probably something happened.
Speaker 2I wouldn't be surprised. When there's smoke, there's fire. Yeah, especially when he was drinking.
Speaker 1Especially when he was drinking, especially when he was like.
Speaker 2I feel like he probably did drugs as well oh, I mean they all did like mountains of cocaine I'm sure that something did happen.
Speaker 1However and again, this is not be like me sympathizing. How old were they like?
Speaker 2they were in their early 20s like they were kids yeah, I.
Speaker 1I think him and ali do actually seem in good yeah, well I think we need to give james space to like actually grow up?
Speaker 2I think so. Like I mean, ali flat out said yeah, if he didn't stop drinking, I was gonna break up with him because I hate him when he drinks, and if he starts again, I will break up with him yeah, because I don't like him when he drinks yeah, so I think we're gonna assume that that was the case.
Speaker 1Yeah, yep, you know, if maybe that is, some people are just not good when they yep and we'll leave it at that. Yeah, because we shouldn't.
Speaker 2Yeah yeah, uh, let's talk about lvp and alex baskin, because what I thought lvp was so quiet during the reunion until she said when I was in this situation, I left the show and everybody was like she's defending ariana, and that's not how I saw it. I saw that as her saying you have to quit. Oh.
Speaker 1Oh, I didn't. I didn't read it as that. However, I thought it was very funny that, like if any of you watched Vanderpump Villa, she also was shitty to all the women on there too.
Speaker 2She doesn't like women.
Speaker 1She just doesn't like women. She wants to be well, I think't like women she wants to be?
Speaker 2well, I think it's. She wants to be liked by powerful men, and she does that by putting other women down.
Speaker 1Yeah, like if you watched vanderpump villa eric, who then turns out like it is also an abuser it is then exposed that he is an abuser who was arrested for basically beating the shit out of his ex-wife Spoiler Oops, like all the women who are working there come to Lisa and are like this guy is like I get bad vibes Bad vibes Not okay. And she's like oh that sucks.
Speaker 2Do you want to leave?
Speaker 1Yeah, so like Lisa is not a good person, Didn't you also say you found out? I realize we're going on a tangent here, but, like you, found out that she didn't pay employees.
Speaker 2She's got a ton of law or had a ton of lawsuits against her for wage theft. Yeah, Like she's a bad. She's your stereotypical rich person she's a bad person yeah so she's not the queen, she's a shitty person.
Speaker 1Yeah, she sorry, lvp, I'm not sorry. So I think I think that she was basically saying you, I left, that's what I did, so because she's an executive producer on Vanderpump Rules. I think that was her way, and I think this is what you were saying. Her way of saying you should probably just leave yeah, I think so too.
Speaker 2everybody was thinking like, oh, it's her defending her should be like I would have left in that situation. No, it's her saying this is what I would do, and I think that I right, so I think you should also do that. Yeah, and I don't know anything about Alex Baskin besides that he's the producer.
Speaker 1So the other producer that we saw in the scene.
Speaker 2Jeremiah.
Speaker 1Jeremiah, who was like Ariana you shouldn't leave like this. Apparently, he used to be a producer on southern charm, which I am now just watching through, and apparently he was fired from that show jeremiah was yeah, oh so I don't know why I'll have to do some more digging into that, but that's interesting. Alex baskin apparently, from what I know, has worked on other Real Housewives shows. So Beverly Hills, I forget which other ones.
Speaker 2So he's like a less publicly facing Andy Cohen kind of deal. I wouldn't go that far, okay.
Speaker 1But apparently he does have a good relationship with people. I think again, I'm not entirely sure. I think the thing is is that like and Jeremiah and Alex Baskin have been very public, like in any interview how do you really come back from something like Scannable when it's like?
Speaker 2You don't? That's the climax, and now everybody has to like come back to equilibrium. So next season, this or next season, is the last.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think and we have talked about this before it just needs to end.
Speaker 2There's no more left to tell.
Speaker 1Yeah, the story is done. It's just like period the end.
Speaker 2We watched a friendship fall apart.
Speaker 1Yeah, and I think the fact is that they're all in their late 30s, mid to late 30s, early 40s.
Speaker 2Kristen's no longer on the show, but she's like 41.
Speaker 1Yeah, I think at that point we just need to call it a day yeah, it's fine.
Speaker 2I don't know, take all that money that you made per season and, I don't know, open all that money that you made per season and I don't know, open a bar yeah, oops.
Speaker 1I think, like my issue with the three sort of like episodes was that a it was just too long over raw. I didn't need it to be like like we said. It could have been two episodes. And then after that it was like I didn't get anything from this. There was no resolve, there was no sort of like anything new, everybody just seemed pissed off, everybody seemed like over it and I just kind of felt like, yeah, this is I'm done do you know who we didn't talk about at all?
Speaker 2Tom Sandoval well. I think we did we did. We said he was the creepy uncle yeah, the only other thing that I wanted to say was him. Watching the last five minutes, you saw the mask fall completely, yeah, and there were so many people who were like online, being like he's not, he's not a sociopath, he's not a psychopath, he's not a narcissist, and they all were like no, he's at least a narcissist. This is a dangerous person.
Speaker 1Yeah, and he also went and thanked Lala again. You know that scene where, like Sheena went up to, didn't go up to Ariana I was crying Went up to Lala and was like oh my God, I'm so sorry, I didn't like defend you anymore, like I just I was really scared. Tom went up to Lala and thanked her again for doing whatever it is that she was doing. Like he's a weirdo Like if anybody still needs reminding of this, just watch the season.
Speaker 2Watch the last 15 minutes and it's like, oh no, Tom is scary.
Podcast Promotion and Farewell to Show
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't like.
Speaker 2There's nothing really more to say about Tim.
Speaker 1Like, so over the show.
Speaker 2I'm very glad that they are going to be taking a break next season, but that means that we're going to have to find something new to watch.
Speaker 1Yeah, we'll find something yeah.
Speaker 2We'll get me hooked on Flonix or something.
