SPEAKER_01If you're looking to make 2026 your year, this episode is for you. Just a quick announcement before I get into this episode. A couple months ago, we went to a bi-weekly podcast schedule, and yes, we heard your thoughts and everything. We decided, okay, let's go back into weekly schedule. Number one, because you get more information from top leaders. And also, I I love sharing. I love giving back to the network marketing community. So, yes, we will go back to a weekly schedule, and this episode will launch on January 1st. So it's a good way to start your new year weekly episode. Of course, there's tons of good audios and podcasts out there, and we always appreciate your support in subscribing or liking or following or whatever the platform is for this podcast. Really quick, think about this phrase. Why not you this year? Why not you this year? So many times we're going to be focusing on others this year via social media or other events where we see other success stories in our industry, or we see other success stories in the business world, in the financial world, and actresses and actors and musicians. We're so focused on other successes, especially using social media, and we're focusing on their success. But why not us? Why not you this year to succeed? Why not? And I thought about that phrase, which may sound confusing, but let me show you where I got this, and we will change that phrase around to focus on you personally. A couple weeks ago, as I'm recording this episode, I like college volleyball. I think it's exciting. I understand the game, it's fun to watch. I've seen a couple of events live, of course, but I was watching the tournament. I'm not sure exactly what the tournament is called, but there's a bracket system, and Texas AM on this particular Sunday was playing Nebraska. Now, Texas AM, it's a small college town. It's town is actually called College Station. There was a college, and then they called it College Station. I think it was from the train station. But either way, it's a small town, all focused on the college, and it's not a volleyball school. They're mostly focused on football, basketball. Yes, they have a great volleyball program, they have a great sports program, they have a everything's it's definitely one of the top 10 schools in Texas for everything academics, sports, amazing school. A lot of my friends have have gone there. But it's not a volleyball school. In fact, when the volleyball team plays at home, they play in this arena that's built for basketball, 12,000 plus people, and under 3,000, sometimes under 2,000 people actually show up to the game. So it's it's not like a packed arena. But besides the they don't really have a home court advantage like most people do. And to put this in perspective, the next town over, or the next city over, I should say, is Austin, Texas, UT. Their D1 school has twice the average attendance. So it has nothing to do with the sport, it's just it's just not a volleyball town. And they don't even have their own arena, they have to play in the basketball arena. It's just the odds are against them, and they're always the underdog. So they never have like a top final four season, they've never won a national championship, and they're playing the number one seed, not only in the bracket or that region bracket, but number one seed in the country. In fact, Nebraska didn't even lose a game in their entire season, and they're playing Nebraska at home. Now, Nebraska has a huge home court advantage. I believe it's called a court, home court advantage. They sell out every game. In fact, if you want to go to a game, you have to have season tickets, you have to know somebody, you have to get a secondary market, you have to probably have a secret knock just to get in. I have no idea how to get tickets to a Nebraska volleyball game. They have a volleyball-specific arena. They had to play in Nebraska, this small volleyball program at Texas AM, having to play in Nebraska. They were huge underdogs, but they kept chanting something in their press conferences, in their locker room, and they say, Why not us? So many people are so focused on, oh, they're gonna win, uh, they're gonna get defeated, they shouldn't be here. They're like, Well, why not us? Why not us to win? Why not us to be the underdog that that beats the number one seed, that beats that comes from behind the previous games? I don't want to go too much into detail, but their battle cry was why not us, because they had a new coach a couple years ago that changed their mindset, that added additional skills. Because just like our business, it's mindset and skills in sports, it's mindset and skills. In life, in anything in life, is mindset and skills. So instead of focusing on other teams, they focused on themselves and said, why not us? There's an old saying that says, winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners. Now that's kind of harsh words, but we have to take that in consideration. What are we thinking about? Are we thinking about us, or are we about thinking about others? Again, we need to think about others, especially if people we want to support, but we have to focus on us if we want to win. So I'll cut this story short. Texas AM not only beat the number one seed in Nebraska, but their next two wins were what they call sweeps, where they win three sets in a row to win the match. So they they never lost a set from there on. I mean, just blew away the competition. It was it was actually not that exciting to watch because I actually like close games, close matches, I should say. But uh yeah, hats off to them. They were the underdog that won by because they kept saying, why not us? So think about this phrase. Say to yourself, why not me? Instead of focusing on other people's successes, again, of course, congratulate people, cheer people on, regardless of company or even industry. Yes, absolutely. But think about why not me? Why not me to win this year? Most of the time we have something that's held us back, or something in our mind that's held us back. We say, well, insert excuse here. Well, I live in a small town, I'm single, I'm married, I have kids, I have other businesses, I don't have time, I don't have money. All these things that we tend to complain on, which are legitimate excuses. If you live in a small town, yeah, there's smaller prospect pool, but again, wait a sec. Everybody knows each other, and wait a sec, there's this whole thing called the internet. Like we we can justify the excuses, we can come up, overcome things, and all sorts of stuff, but at the same time, there's somebody that lived in a smaller town that made it work. Oh, I'm single. Well, it's probably someone that's been divorced seven times and made it work. Well, I'm married and I have to spend a lot of time with my family. Well, it's probably someone that is married that found some time within their day and the nooks and crannies of their day to make it work. Or they partnered up with their spouse, or well, I have kids, I want to spend time with the kids. Absolutely. I get it. Trust me, I could use that excuse, but at the same time, there's probably somebody that has more kids than you. There's probably someone that lives in a smaller town that's been divorced eight times, that has more kids than you, that it that it made it work. So I'm not it's I'm just using that as an example. I'm not saying that excuses aren't real. I'm just saying some people have thought about it and said, you know what, I'm going to win despite my excuses. And yes, sometimes it is hard to swallow. A lot of times I read books and listen to audios, and sometimes I feel like it's speaking right to me. Like, wow, wow, how do they know my excuse? But that's that. No big deal. The big thing on every episode is what can we do? Okay, great. Awesome. Uh, I can I can change my mindset, I could read more on mindset, I could learn more on mindset, great. But what can I do today, right now, after this episode is over? All we have to do is check our habits or check the things that we do every single day. All we are, everybody, me, you, the entire world, we're just a collection of our habits. The habits that we do every day is leading to what we are right now. If we want to change, we just gotta change our habits. Or just edit, or just modify, or pivot, or insert verb here. If we have some habits that aren't building our business, or more importantly, we have some habits that are taking time away from our business, let's modify. If you pull up your phone, you can probably click on depends on your operating system, if it's Android or Apple or whatever, but you can there's something on there called phone time or screen time, and you can look at each individual app and you can see how long you spend on sometimes it's uh on your phone, on communication, on social media, on uh email programs, everything. Now, again, a lot of this stuff is is crucial for our lives and our and our business, but let's just let's just pick on social media again. I know I pick on social media a lot. Social media is great as long as you're consuming positive content, disregarding the negative, and of course, not over consuming, but uh you know, good and bad. But let's say the social media content is four hours per day, it could be four hours a day, it could be one hour a day. I guarantee not all that time is productive, not all that time is building our business. Maybe we could subtract it. I could put limits on my phone for how long I want to spend on certain apps. It's a parenting app, but you could also do it with your with yourself. It's one way to do it. Some people have just deleted the app, some people have put the apps into their second or third page on their phone so they don't see it all the time. I was talking to somebody yesterday that was saying that their phone is actually just productive apps. It's messaging apps, it's email, it's uh audible, it's book funnel, it's I highly recommend a book funnel app, but that's just me. It's it's everything that builds their business. All the other stuff is on the second or third page, or is it wallpaper? I'm not sure, but it's not in front of them all the time. So they have to consciously look at their phone and swipe to the right to find an app that isn't productive. Now that's an extreme. I'm just giving you giving people examples of what they could do. And if you think, well, what habits will build my business? I will put links to each episode of the three easy habits. And I I know I mention these episodes a lot. You could buy the book, you can buy the audio, whatever works best for you, or just listen to the podcast episodes right now. And it's simple personal development, making new contact every single day, and promote events. Those are great. If you just do those the habits along with the core skills, you're set. Everything else is bonus. You can easily create an amazing business by learning the core skills, doing some habits, and you're good to go. Everything else will build your business faster, but they're unnecessary. Just to start off. Now, the core skills, if you don't know the core skills, I always highly recommend it. There's a couple ways you can get the core skills. Number one, you get it for free with the Happy Network Marketer ebook. You could get the paperback book. Most people get the audios, which is the core skills audio package, which is uh rapport, icebreaker, closing, and of course, different presentation options. But we always say rapport is 80%. It's honestly it's a little bit more. If you just learn rapport, people will ask about your business. If you just learn the people skill of rapport, you can't help but get people to ask about your business. Again, well, we do need an icebreaker to let them know what it's about. And of course, we do need to close them to give them options, and of course, if they once they want in, we definitely gotta give them the details. But honestly, rapport is more like 90%. Like if you just learn that, I'll put a link to, of course, uh, the free ebook as well as the core skills audio package, because that's what most people get. Because hey, we're audio right now, we could easily do it, listen to it over and over and over again, and it's definitely made a huge difference in my business. That along with three easy habits, I'll put those links up. Now, those are great. It's it's awesome to have those skills, to have those habits, to think about you know what else can I add? When can I add it? But as with anything in the new year and learning anything that's new, what happens? It tends to fall off after the first or second day, or we forget. We have busy lives, we have other things going on besides our business, and we forget to do things. I know I mentioned this a couple episodes ago, but this is the easiest way to make sure things happen is to write it down or put it in your calendar. In other words, if you put a sticky note and you drive every single day, put a sticky note on the steering wheel that says do this activity for your business or this habit or this skill or whatever you need to be doing, uh, you know, presenting, following up to make new contacts, whatever it is, put that uh in your wallet, put it on the wallpaper of your phone. Or like me, I live on my calendar on the the computer that syncs with my phone. So I have calendar reminders that tell me important things, important Zooms that I have to be on, important classes that I have to uh attend or give, uh, you know, all the everything that's important in my life is on that calendar. And I can add a repeating event. So I say, you know, repeat this every single day for the next 30 days. Whatever that habit is. Or I can drop it and drag it to the next day. Whatever works best for you. If you put it in whatever you use, don't get a new app. Just if you use uh uh a daytime or a month at a glance, whatever it is, use that and write down that habit every single day. By the seventh or tenth day, you don't you don't really have to think about it, but it's good to have that on there. Plus, there's something about checking off something, and you're successful in checking off that activity, even if you are on autopilot, it's really cool to do. I've always mentioned I and I truly believe that success is super simple, it's just simple activities that you do consistently, and how you do that is create the habit. How do you create the habit? Just by writing it down, doing it, and the next thing you know, you can't help but not do it. In fact, you look forward to doing the habit, you look forward to talking to people, you look forward to promoting events because you know that it leads to positive outcome. And I know that's a lot of information, a lot to to put out there. So I'll I'll put links to all of the free resources and of course uh the audio packs as well. And if you really feel overwhelmed, just listen to habit number one episode of the three easy habits. I'll just think of that one first, or if you just want to jump right into it, get the course skills audio pack and click play on rapport. Whatever works best for you, just pick one thing you can do right away today that will make a difference and create habits in your business. Again, I appreciate your support in the five years of this podcast. I look forward to sharing weekly episodes and of course next week with another successful networker. We'll talk to you then.
