Mule killed in crash on Highway 89 in Willard

A mule was killed and a pickup truck was likely totaled after a collision Saturday night on U.S. Highway 89 in South Willard, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 10 p.m. near 7850 South during windy conditions that may have contributed to the incident. Trooper Ken Chugg said three mules had gotten loose after becoming spooked and breaking through a wire fence. As a northbound driver traveled through a construction zone, one of the animals entered the roadway. “The driver tried to hit his brakes and smacked one of them,” Chugg said. The mule was killed...
