Lease for proposed Brigham City-area geothermal power project advanced by BE county commission

The Box Elder County Commission approved a lease at their July 22 meeting giving Rodatherm Energy Corporation access to geothermal resources beneath county-owned property and rights-of-way for a proposed 10-megawatt power project in the Brigham City area. The agreement covers approximately 186.4 acres of county property within a broader geothermal area extending roughly from west of Honeyville to west of Brigham City. Box Elder County Community Development Director Scott Lyons said Rodatherm has been securing subsurface leases from private landowners and needs the county agreement to connect those properties beneath county roads.
