County assumes Thatcher-Penrose fire, emergency medical service

The Box Elder County Commission approved an agreement at its July 22 meeting to transfer fire protection, fire suppression and emergency medical first response in Thatcher and Penrose to county control after learning the existing operation could no longer legally be funded through the local water entity and was nearly out of money. County Fire Marshal Kevin Lloyd said the agreement would bring Thatcher-Penrose Fire “completely underneath” the county.
