Weekend, holiday fairgrounds surcharge reduced by half in county consolidated fee schedule update

Four months after a contentious overhaul of fairgrounds fees, the Box Elder County Commission reduced the Friday-through-Sunday and holiday facility surcharge from 50% to 25% at its Aug. 12 meeting as part of a broader update to the county’s consolidated fee schedule. The update also changes clerk, planning, landfill and recording fees and establishes consequences for county accounts that remain past due for at least 90 days. The county’s original consolidated schedule, adopted in November 2025, imposed a 50% surcharge for fairgrounds events scheduled on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays or county-declared holidays.
