Welcome to the Daily American, my friend. We appreciate having you on.
Speaker 2:Thank you.
Speaker 1:Thank you Now where were we on the collectibles? All right, the watches. So what are the best watches?
Speaker 2:The number one watch is Swiss Movement. That's number one. Okay, it doesn't matter what brand, although it kind of does and it kind of doesn't you can get a cheap brand watch. That is swiss movement, so it would be a low-end watch brand. Okay, now all of your Casios or Casio.
Speaker 1:Casios, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:All of those are Japan Movement. Japan Movement is number two.
Speaker 1:Okay, but what about like Rolex and stuff?
Speaker 2:Rolex if you can find a real one, have it authenticated. If it's been authenticated and it is the real deal and you get it for like 10 bucks real deal and you get it for like 10 bucks then you have stolen it 10 bucks yeah.
Speaker 1:Where the hell do you get a Rolex for 10 bucks at?
Speaker 2:I went to an estate sale and I bought a Rolex and didn't realize it was a Rolex. But I always take my watches to a jeweler and he authenticates them. Various mechanical components, but the last wrist watch I bought, I paid five dollars for it and I got it at an estate sale and I got it at an estate sale. It has been authenticated and I had it cleaned and that watch is worth $25,000.
Speaker 1:For $5. So, basically, you go to all these estate sales. How do you find them, bill? How do you find them?
Speaker 2:Tell the audience how you find the estate sales uh, after I get on the website, then, uh, I just scroll through the uh cities and then I look for my area and then I click on that and then they post the estate sale companies.
Speaker 2:They will post pictures of sale companies. They will post pictures of most of the stuff that they have for sale. So I look for jewelry and when I see the jewelry then I start looking for watches and also look for rings. This one particular estate sale I bought two rings and a wristwatch. The two rings I got $5 each on the rings plus the wristwatch watch. The wristwatch is Omega that's the brand and it is mechanical and it's solid gold and it has been authenticated and, like I said, I paid I think it was like three, three hundred dollars plus tax to have it cleaned it was all cleaned up and now it's in my safe deposit box.
Speaker 2:But, um, and I have it in a, I don't have a box for it. It didn't did not come with the box, but I do have it in a. What? Everybody puts their stuff in a Crown Royal bag, yeah, and it's rolled up and it's sealed so no air can get in there and oxidize it.
Speaker 1:Man, you're sitting on some good gems down there, and where are you at? Tell the audience where you're at, good old.
Speaker 2:Dayton, Ohio. Born and raised. Born and raised.
Speaker 1:How'd you become a collector Bill?
Speaker 2:By accident. I like going to garage sales and yard sales and you can find some pretty good deals at yard sales. Can find some pretty good deals at yard sales and I'm going to tell you about this one yard sale I went to last year it was uh in a suburb of dayton called kettering, okay, and I went to this yard sale and they had a bag of 23 women's rings oh yeah, you told me about this one, go ahead and I bought it.
Speaker 2:They had a price tag of two dollars on it, so I bought it. And then I took it to my car and I got out my jeweler's loop and I started looking at them. 11 rings were 925, which is sterling silver. Three rings were 14 karat gold. One ring was, like I said, 14 karat gold, but one ring had a ruby with a diamond inlay and gold inlay.
Speaker 2:That one is damaged. The stone was cracked all the way in half and it was not worth getting it fixed. So that one there is pretty much junk and it's only good for the gold. The other one I had appraised it's white opal with black coral accents on each side and that was by Maui Divers. So I guess that's a ring that you can only get in Hawaii. And then the other ring is also opals and it's antique and it's worth roughly $3,000. Aye, aye, aye. And the rest of the rings were junk. You know costumes, pure junk. Yeah, so that was a pretty good day that day and I just could not believe it. Like I said, I had the other two gold rings appraised and that's what the appraisals were.
Speaker 1:Well, I'm glad you got yourself a hobby there, bill, and you certainly got yourself a wonderful daughter and son-in-law with Troy Monroe and his tribe of children. She got a lot of grandkids there, bill, and they got all the jewels from you.
Speaker 2:And I will be going there later on this year, probably around May or June. I'll probably be there for about two weeks.
Speaker 1:Well, that's awesome. Maybe I'll catch you there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, it'd be nice to see you again. Of course, Bill, it was a pleasure.
Speaker 1:It was a pleasure the last time we got together, so hopefully it happens again. My old friend.
Speaker 2:Yeah, heavy on the old Ha ha ha.
Speaker 1:Well, look, I just made myself a little breakfast for dinner Some eggs, some ham eggs, a little bit of steak on the side and some avocado. I'm going to channel this down, bill. Hop into bed, put something on the tube for a little bit, and then, you know, say my prayers and pack it in for the night, my friend, Alrighty Sounds good. Thank you for coming on the Daily American.
Speaker 2:Oh, you're more than welcome. And you have a good evening, then, and I'll talk to you when I come over there to visit.
Speaker 1:Of course, bill. God bless you always and we shall talk soon.
Speaker 2:All righty, you have a good night.
Speaker 1:Good night sir.
Speaker 2:Bye.
