Repurposing Podcast Content: Strategies for Growth, Engagement, & Revenue
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Many purpose-driven podcasters reach major episode milestones only to realize their backlog feels like a content graveyard, where great insights go to be forgotten. This leads to missed opportunities for podcast growth, lower engagement, and stagnant lead generation. If you feel like your past hard work isn't working for you anymore, this episode of Podcasting Unlocked is your wake-up call. In this episode of Podcastin Unlocked, you’ll learn how to breathe new life into old episodes, reduce listener overwhelm, and turn your archives into a consistent source of income and authority as Alesia explores how to transform your extensive archive into a strategic asset. She also breaks down the four essential pillars of backlog repurposing: Growth, Engagement, Impact, and Conversion. This week, episode 261 of Podcasting Unlocked is about repurposing your podcast content for growth, engagement, and revenue!
In this episode of Podcasting Unlocked, I’m sharing the importance of SEO and discovery for podcast growth and actionable steps you can take right now to utilize your backlog of content to build trust with your audience and bring in new clients.
I also chat about the following:
- Pillar 1: Growth through SEO Audits – Stop letting bad titles hide your best work. Identify your top-performing past episodes and perform an SEO audit by renaming titles and updating descriptions with high-intent keywords to improve discoverability in podcast players.
- Pillar 2: Engagement with Curated Playlists – Deep backlogs can overwhelm new listeners. Reduce the "barrier to entry" by creating curated playlists around specific themes—such as "Business Strategy" or "Self-Discovery"—to guide your audience through your most valuable content.
- Pillar 3: Impact through Authority Building – Use your archives to cement your professional reputation. Create "RoundUp" episodes or "Best Of" segments that showcase your expertise and remind your audience why you are a leader in your niche.
- Pillar 4: Conversion using Dynamic Ads – Your old episodes are still being discovered by new listeners every day. Update your dynamic ads in your backlog to ensure your current offers, lead magnets, and calls to action are reaching those "evergreen" ears.
Your backlog shouldn't be a source of guilt; it should be your greatest business tool. My challenge for you this week is to pick just one pillar. Either rename five old episode titles for better SEO or curate a simple 5-episode playlist for your new listeners. Don't let your impact stop at the release date.
Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on turning your podcast listeners into leads and to hear even more about the points outlined above.
