Walnut
Juglans regia
Appearance: Walnut trees grow up to 130’ tall. Their leaves are divided into leaflets. Walnuts grow inside a thick husk.
Walnuts were an important tree in Israel. They were grown for their nuts, wood, and for oil made from the nuts. The only reference to walnuts in the Bible is in Song of Solomon, where the writer visits his bride’s nut grove.
I went down to the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley.
