 Common names: green bean, pea, clover, alfalfa, soy

Appearance: Beans are a diverse plant family, often used for human food and fodder for animals. Beans  tend to be tall (or long vined) plants with sturdy stems. The plants produce white, pink, purple, or blue flowers and may bear pods containing what is  seeds which are called beans.  

Beans and other food were brought to King David’s army when they had been traveling for a long time. 

When David came to Mahanaim, . . . [some men] Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentils, and parched pulse.
