Corn
Corn
Zea mays
Appearance: Corn has a thick stalk and long, broad leaves. Corn cobs are surrounded by these broad leaves and end with a tuft of pale yellow silk.
Corn is one of the staple grains of many cultures. Sweet corn is ready to eat when the kernels are sweet and juicy. If corn is left to ripen on the stalk, it becomes a grain. People in Bible Times depended on various grains for food. Having an abundant harvest was one symbol of God’s blessing.
There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
Psalm 72:16 KJV
