Uh which is good timing because we've also just uh added native video for like Spotify and Apple Music as well as YouTube. Uh, they've been dropping tracks since about, oh no, much to work through. They've been dropping tracks since about 2019. Um, this particular song is called Hi. And uh it goes, I want to say it's like something like Block Party meets the 1975 in the verse, and then in the chorus, it's like this little kind of chunky pop punk thing kind of going on. And I like both sides of it a fair bit. Um, I'm gonna give you, I think, the chorus, so I would encourage you to go check out the other Versey part that I just talked about before. But this is Hi, as in Hello Hi, uh, by Pompeii. Close, close, but nice ago. Close. Right street, right street, wrong house, wrong suburb. Yeah. Stanley Street, not road. Not a bad start, Maxwell. Wage war. Ah, yes. No, good, good from you. They dropped a new single called Sweet Dreams. Oh, like from a beautiful nightmare. Oh, yeah, we went very different directions there. What song is that? Uh this song combines the heaviness of newer wage war with the super catchy vocal hooks that they're famous for. It's just a good metal core time. Give me some uh give me some core, Sam. Always time for gutter all. You know what I appreciate about uh wage war? What's that? Fucking cables. Uh what I appreciate about what I appreciate about wage war, Sam, if I could get it out, is the the bounce that they put into their riffs. They're very bouncer. And you bounce it is this because they're from Florida, where Limp Biscuit, who famously put that bounce shit in the mosh pit, are from. You're a fan of the biscuit, if I do say so myself. Mate, I love a little bit of the limp and the biscuit, Sam. Yeah, but there's pills to fix a limp. Why would you? Why would you, Sam? We love playing Skip Right. Sam. I want to change direction pretty hard here. And go with a bit of Orville Peck. Oh. Yeah. So uh Orville Peck, you know, does uh generally speaking, plays in that kind of country world. Um but this song I think is more like surfy indie rock. Like it sounds like if I this is I've written it down as this is how I describe the song, if Elvis made triple J 2008 music. Okay. So it's very bright, it's very light, it's very airy, it's got these kind of hand claps, it's got a very surf rock like double snare in the in the chorus. Um, and then there is a little bit of a country trying with uh trying twang with Orville Peck's voice. So yeah, this is Too Little Too Late by Orville Peck. Yeah, and that thing's swangin'. It is swangin'. Must be nice. Orville, tell us about it. Orville No, I'm just kidding. Uh Blinder could be the most exciting band coming up right now. If you're into new gays, if you're into atmospheric punk stuff, so good. They dropped an EP called Low Res, and this song is 480p. Oh, sick. That is quite low res. It's sick. That's not even fucking that's standard definition, Sam. Oh either way, it fucking rip. Further than that. Whoop! Whoops, Jesus. When the DJ uh leaves it go like a little bit too far under the bridge and it kind of dies a little bit before the mix. When they keep the strobes going a little bit too long. Yes, we'll come back to that. But Sam, you light up my world sometimes. Yes, like a teenage boy. My next song is from Barry Can't Swim. So we're getting a little bit dancing speaking of. And you know, he's sorry. There you go. Scottish producer and DJ, he's going full French house, French electro on this one, and really emphasise that by getting like a French language slash a French French accented vocal line. French language. That is hard to say. French language slash French. Yeah, it's just a bit Irish wristwatch. Yeah, yeah, yeah. French language slash French accented vocal in the running over the top. So I think Dart Punk is DJing on a Sydney Harbour yacht party. Oh. That's that's the vibe that I'll give you for this song. IT crowd, anyone? But the weekend was highlighted, Maxwell, by our best boy Dan, his band Virtues played two of their biggest shows ever. They played to 3,000 people at the Fortitude Musical. Uh just a proud little friend moment, I feel. It's good to see him up there. He was um, I mean, the whole band was just they sounded crisp, they sounded tight. Uh it looked like they were just belonged there, you know what I mean? Like dialed. Yeah. They were just like, this place is home, we're doing it. Yeah. And it's just it's cool to see your friends do cool shit, you know? Like we are fortunate to have a lot of cool little wins along the way, but to bring your friends along and see them do well away from you know, anything we're doing is awesome. So shout out to Dan. We've got his little set list up there. Um hidden behind some shit, don't worry about it, you can't see it. And for those wondering about the P plate, yeah. Speaking of friends attempting to tell you cool shit, I've graduated on Sunday. I was a learner and now I'm provisional. Because I don't know if you pass the test, but well, let's let's assume. I got a DAP afterwards. Yeah, yeah. So I don't really want to drop names just in case, but uh we know a guy at the Fortune is legend. Um and he offered to teach you and I how to do the lights at the Fortitude Music Hall. It you know, it was a daunting task, one which Max bitched on. But lot of lot of lot of buttons, lot of lot of keyboard buttons, and I'm no Mavis Beacon, Sam. Honestly, Helen Keller would have a nightmare. Um but yeah, I I stepped up, I was like, for the boys, I'll have a crack. Um so on this two-shell pass, I stepped up, had a little play on the boards, and strobe the shit out of 3,000 people. Developed some late stage epilepsy for a few people, but uh yeah. Yeah, but who cares? It wasn't me. I knew it was coming, so I was prepped. But um it was great fun. We made a little video of it. She's gone down and she's let this get into Phoebe Bridges. I mean, that tells me that there's a January, there's a February that uh say February again. February. Oh, okay. There's a there's a jan, there's a feb to uh really cut that out. That uh Oh my god. There's gaps in, you know what I'm saying? Could we see Phoebe Bridges Haley Williams laneway? Potentially. Yeah. Because good shit. It didn't crack anything. Awesome. Maxwell, it's new gaze, not shoe gaze. There we go. There we go. So new gaze is apparently a modern, heavier style of shoe gaze. Should we should we give the listeners a very quick family tree? Yeah. We can do that. So you've got shoe gays, like original flavour shoe gaze kind of came out of that like early 90s Madchester kind of like it was indie rock. My Bloody Valentine. Yeah, indie rock meets kind of like almost a bit dance kind of thing. Like there's some electronics going on there as well. It's very, it's not particularly heavy, it's more like drony, if you will. And it shoe gays derived from the way that guitarists would play guitars that were so affected. They played the whole set staring at their pedal board. Yes. So they're staring at their shoes, shoe gays. Yes, and that kind of caught on as like the way that you would dance to the music because it's very, you know, there's not well, it's not necessarily like big ups and downs and stuff. It's very even, and you kind of would just sort of experience it and bop along, kind of thing. You'd be looking at the ground. 100%. Then we had new metal in the late 90s, uh early 2000s. Very everyone knows new metal, but it's very thick, very bouncy. Rap meets uh metal meets kind of some electronics in there as well. You know, you always had DJ Lethal on the decks up the back. You've got the big four corn, slipknot, linkin' park, and limp biscuit. Yep. And then throw a bit of grunge and post-grunge through the late 90s and into the early 2000s, and then put all that in a pot, mix it together, and you get yourself New Gaze. Yes. So New Gaze has two distinct meanings, apparently. So it's a 2000s indie electronic infused shoe gaze revival. Okay. And a modern crossover blending heavy drop-tuned guitars, like grunge riffs, uh like that post-punk vibe, with new metal, dreamy shoe gaze walls of sound. Okay. So I brought a band Slow Waves a couple weeks ago. They're very that. And all of these bands are very new gays, Maxwell. Let's do it. So I'm going to start you with Slow Crush, who, for those rusted on listeners, I have brought before. But for the ones that are new and all across the globe, welcome. This is Thirst by Slow Crush. Let's do it. There's some real dissonance. Oh, don't you love the back of that? Yeah. An artist that is dominating in this genre at the moment is Wisp. Um, but she's very, very cool. This song is called See You Soon. The guitar effect, the one tiny tambourine hit. It's all happening in there.
