Together in 2016, Drs. Goodman and McIntosh co-authored the book Integrated Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Blending RTI and PBIS. The book’s purpose is to combine the response to intervention (RTI) and positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) models into a single multi-tiered system of support (MTSS). Dr. Steve Goodman, is a partner with the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports and a co-investigator with the Integrated MTSS Research Network. Dr. Goodman was the previous director of Michigan’s Multi-tiered System of Supports Technical Assistance Center. He serves on state, national, and international advisory boards for the implementation of MTSS. Dr. Goodman is currently on the Board of Directors for the Association for Positive Behavior Support. Dr. Goodman has contributed to over 50 publications and has presented across the nation and in eight other countries on PBIS and the integration of multi-tiered frameworks.
Dr. Kent McIntosh, is Philip H. Knight Chair of Special Education in the College of Education at the University of Oregon, where he is also Director of the Educational and Community Supports research unit. He serves as a co-director for the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) and the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE). Dr. McIntosh is the lead developer of the research-validated School-Wide Universal Behavior Sustainability Index: School Teams (SUBSIST). His current research focuses on the implementation and sustainability of school-based interventions—in particular, integrated academic and behavior RTI systems—and equity in school discipline. He has authored 98 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.
