Today, we want to focus on emotional liberation and its role in both personal and spiritual transformation. Emotional liberation as defined here is about letting go of all negative emotions or beliefs we have, including self-loathing views we have about ourselves, and any negative views we hold against others. For example, we may have a sense of self-doubt or shame, because of the way we look or behave, or things we do or don't do. But, holding negative emotions is exhausting and drains our life energy, regardless of whom they are directed to, or whether or not they are justified. For example, being angry about something or someone is not a good feeling, irrespective of whether or not the anger is justified. That is how holding any form of negative emotion drains our life energy and closes our heart.

Metaphorically, we can think of our negative emotions as heavy rocks that we are carrying in our backpack, in our road of life. We have picked up these heavy rocks gradually in the course of our life, starting from early age, when we were easily affected by others and the environment around us.
Maybe the time has arrived to reflect on these heavy rocks we have been carrying. Maybe it is time to let go of them, because the more we liberate ourselves from them, and the negative energy they represent, the lighter and more optimistic we would feel about ourselves and life. The goal of this presentation is to bring awareness to these negative emotions, and provide the key to liberate from them. More specifically, we cover the following topics:
What is the role of emotional liberation in self-transformation?
Where do our negative emotions and beliefs come from?
And, How can we experience emotional liberation?
Let's go over these.

What is the role of emotional liberation in self-transformation?
Emotional liberation is an essential part of self-transformation. This is true for personal transformation, such as developing trust and confidence, and spiritual transformation. Any transformation requires full intention, devotion, and pledge to the process, but without liberation from negativity, such transformation won't be as complete or lasting. That makes emotional liberation a necessary part of transformation.
Let's do a brief contemplation to see why that is the case. If you feel comfortable, take a moment to contemplate on something you wish you could change in you. For example a personal quality you wish you had, or an aspiration you wish you could follow. Now, check to see why you don't simply do that? What emotion or belief is preventing you from embodying that personal quality, or following your aspiration? Is what is blocking you a part of you that has doubt about your ability, or a part of you that is worrying about how things can go wrong? Make a note of this emotion or belief, and notice how it's preventing you from inviting positive changes to your life. Contemplations like this are useful in noticing how some of our negative views are blocking our pursuit of ideals.

Where do our negative emotions and beliefs come from?
We humans have a native capacity to be playful, inspired, and optimistic. We can notice this capacity when watching children play, or sense that in ourselves when we are in Nature and closer to the elements, for example sitting by the fire, or being on the top of a mountain. Unfortunately, we pick up negative emotions or beliefs about ourselves in the course of our life, separating us from our positive true nature.
We accumulate these negative views starting from our childhood. To show how that is the case, let's do another contemplation. If you feel comfortable, check inside and look for a negative view you have about yourself. This could be a critical part of your personality that has doubts about intelligence, your abilities, or something else you notice. Now, focus on this negative view, and check whether you have notice it before, somewhere in your past. Check if you can remember when that was, and the circumstances that led you having this negative view about yourself. Make a note of it, and notice the circumstances that made you feel, or believe that way. If you wish repeat this contemplation for other negative views you have against yourself, or toward others.
Contemplations like this help us notice where our negative views come from. In almost all cases, these views are initiated when we were much younger, or during difficult times in our life, when you could not be at our best. Now, the more important question is whether these negative views are relevant to the person we have become, or the person we want to be. We are certainly wiser and more experienced now, compared to the past, so maybe holding on to our negative views is no longer fair or justified. And, maybe the time has come to liberate ourselves from them.

How can we experience emotional liberation?
As mentioned, our negative views about ourselves go back to the difficult circumstances in our past. Unfortunately, simply letting go of these views is not as practical. For example, if I am someone who is sensitive about what people say about me, I cannot simply let go of my sensitivity, or decide not to be sensitive anymore. The only way I can liberate myself from this sensitivity, is to understand why it's there in the first place. This understanding is the key to emotional liberation.
Let me give an example to further clarify this. For example, if I was unfairly accused of doing something that my older sibling did, when I was little, and subsequently was unfairly punished by my parents because of that, I may lose trust on people close to me, because they did not believe me, and abandoned me. And, because I want this to never happen to me again, I grow up to become someone who gets angry, when people don't believe me, or accuse me of something. I become someone who is sensitive to what people say about me. You can see in this example, how my sensitivity to what people say about me is linked to the event of that day in my childhood, and how I was unfairly accused and punished by people around me. Ironically in most cases, we don't realize such connections, or even remember the details of such originating events.

But, all of these can change, if I can go back to that day, notice what my younger self experienced, and help him let go of his painful emotions, and liberate himself from them. The negative emotions of that day can only be released, if it is fully expressed by my younger self, and acknowledged by me. This is the most important point in this presentation. The fact that we can liberate ourselves from all negativities, only when we go back to the time they came about, and liberate from them at their origination. Going back to the example I used here, through some inner works, I can go back to the day that I was unfairly accused by others, connect to my younger self, let him express how he felt back then, and help him let go of all of those painful emotions. This leads to emotional liberation.
In fact, psychological techniques, such as hypnotherapy, Jungian Psychology, and IFS are more effective because they focus on psychospiritual reflections on the past, in search of redemption and understanding.
We can also compare this to the concept of “soul retrieval” in shamanic wisdom traditions, where a part of the soul gets trapped by negative energies clustered around an event in the past. This is known as “soul loss” because a part of the soul is separated and lost in those negative energies. If you are interested to know more about this subject, check out one of my older presentations called Soul Loss as the Spiritual View of Personality. I have provided a link to it in the description below.
Please keep in mind that emotional liberation is an ongoing process, because we are surrounded by negative energies of the current events in external world. So, we need to be cognizant of these energies and block them from suppressing our positive true nature. If you are curious about these negative energies, and how you can neutralize them, consider watching Part 3 of my older presentation on Soul Sovereignty. Closing Remarks
In closing, I hope you've found the ideas presented here useful. The main takeaway here is for you to realize how your negative views about yourself or others can prevent you from becoming who you want to be, or creating the life you deserve and want. Any form of negativity separates you from your true nature, which has tremendous capacity for love, curiosity, courage, and honor.
I hope you reflect on this and consider finding and liberating yourselves from any self-limiting negativity and doubt, you notice in you. Trust your heart, stay true to your true nature and authenticity, and continue to transform yourself to whom you always knew you can be.
