Burial Plot Horror Podcast

EP 10 Sarah Dhue

Brenda S Tolian Season 1 Episode 10

In this episode of The Burial Plot we have dug up author Sarah J Dhue.

Sarah was born and raised in the Alton/Godfrey area of Illinois.  Her first love is writing and she’s been at it since elementary school.  She self-publishes her creative fiction and writes mostly Horror and Paranormal fiction, with a little bit of Science Fiction.

She completed her first book in the summer of 2010.  That book, For Two Cold Minutes, was first printed locally in 2012, and finally became her first self-published book in August 2014.

Sarah has participated in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) as well as Camp NaNoWriMo for many years.  In November 2017, her novel Monsters was in the International Miami Book Fair.  Her novel, Star Crossed, was her first major genre departure from her typical Horror, Paranormal, and Science Fiction into the realm of Romance.

As well as her self-published books, her writing has been featured in her high school and college literary journals.  Outside of academia, she has short stories in Volumes 3 and 4 of Lulu’s Share Your Scare Anthology.

While writing is Sarah’s first love, she has degrees in Computer Graphics and Web Design and designs all of her own book covers.  Outside of school and work, she is a coffee enthusiast who loves going to independent shops in her local area and when she travels – which she loves to do – checking out all of the cool atmospheres and delicious coffee they have to offer.  She’s an animal lover, enjoys playing video games, and believes in supporting artists of all kinds/mediums from all over the world!

We pick her brain on all things self-publishing, including an overview of the process that Sarah goes through to unleash her works on the world. We get some social media marketing tips, in-person events, and the science of using emojis.

Sarah shares with us her desire and efforts to support other authors and artists.

She gives us an overview of her experience with NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo and why she feels it is a valuable exercise for writers.

We talk about her journey into cross-genre writing and her book Demented that is officially associated with game giant Nintendo.

Sarah’s book Lake Vautour has a compelling and personal backstory to its creation as well as a personal connection to Brenda! Sarah reads an excerpt from this creepy, vulture-infested-horror-who-dunnit.
