In Part 20 of the Everyday Disciple series, we continue through Jesus' Sermon on the Mount by examining Matthew 5:13-16. Following the Beatitudes, Jesus describes His followers as the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and a city set on a hill.

Salt preserves, heals, and adds value. In the same way, believers are called to stand against spiritual decay and bring God's healing presence into a broken world. Light illuminates the path for others, not by drawing attention to itself, but by reflecting Christ. Jesus reminds us that every disciple has been given this light and is called to shine it openly. Like a city on a hill, our lives should provide hope, direction, and a visible testimony of God's work.

This message emphasizes that discipleship is not about trying harder but about allowing Christ's life to be lived through us. True influence begins with a surrendered heart, is demonstrated first in our private lives, and extends outward through acts of compassion, service, and faithful witness. As followers of Jesus, we are called to help others find hope by pointing them to Him.
