What kinds of work can you do if you're an international aquaculture consultant? Hint: RAS is a big part :)
Show Notes

In this episode, we have Daniel Rodriguez talked to us what it's like to be in international consulting in the aquaculture industry.
He has several years of professional experience defined by an extensive background in almost all aspects of controlled environmental farming of aquatic organisms including facilities design and operation programs. During the past 7 years, in an intensive RAS steelhead salmon facility in upstate New York, I directed a 3 million dollars pilot for pacific white shrimp production using biofloc and RAS technologies obtaining promising results.

Previously, he worked as an Aquaculture Research Associate for the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aqua-cultures of Auburn University in the Marine Aquaculture Research Center located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Working on the intensive production of White shrimp, Red Snapper, Pompano and live feeds as microalgae and zooplankton for marine larval rearing production programs. A few years later I moved to Canada, working as consultant for large farming RAS operations producing Rainbow Trout, Atlantic salmon and Black cod.

He answered these questions on the show:

  1. What sustainable aquaculture practices do you recommend for promoting environmental conservation and minimizing negative impacts on marine ecosystems?
  2. How do you address the challenges of disease prevention and control in aquaculture systems?
  3. What innovative technologies or approaches do you recommend to improve the efficiency and productivity of aquaculture while maintaining high standards of animal welfare?

Enjoy!
