S7 E1 Solo Aging
Solo Agers are individuals who live alone, and who do not have children – or, whose children are unwilling or unable to provide additional support.
According to the US Census Bureau, there are approximately 22 million adults age 55+ who live alone, and an estimated 28% of them are childless. When we factor in adults 55+ who have children, but whose children are unwilling or unable to provide support, solo agers encompass about 34% of older adults in the United States. Given the growth of the solo aging community, as well as the current caregiver crisis in the United States, Jess invited AARP Research Director Laura Skufca to MoneyTalks 50+!
Join Jess and Laura to learn more about recent research on Solo Agers, important considerations when it comes to being a successful Solo Ager, and some financial literacy topics and resources that are critical for this unique group.
