The Ugly Quacking Duck
Hey Ho Off To The Studio We Go
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The weather outside feels like a warning sign, and we start right there: heat in the studio, storms pushing across the Midwest, and a quick check on tornado alerts before we zoom out to a whirlwind world weather roundup. We call out conditions from Spokane to Phoenix, Moscow, Tokyo, Beijing, the Australian Plains, and back home near Mount Vernon, Illinois, because sometimes the fastest way to feel the moment we’re living in is to name it out loud.
Then we make a hard turn into a bigger question that won’t leave us alone: just because we can change biology, should we? We revisit a set of movies that all orbit gene editing and human modification, then connect that fictional warning to real headlines like human embryo editing, anti-aging gene therapy trials that aim to make cells “young” again, and even genetically modified hookworms engineered to deliver therapeutics inside a living host. It’s equal parts fascinating and unsettling, and we try to keep the focus on long-term consequences, unintended effects, and basic ethics.
We also bring it back home to the parts of health that don’t require a lab: faith, prayer, positive living, eating better, and staying physically active. Along the way we share updates to uglyquackingduck.com, drop a dad joke, and run our seven-day earthquake report.
If you got something out of this, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave us a review so more people can find the flock. What’s your line in the sand when it comes to gene editing and “anti-aging” science?

Welcome To The Studio Midwest Hideout
BruceHey ho, off to the studio we go.
CapellaWelcome to the ugly quacking duck. We like to joke that we're the worst podcast in the unknown universe, but we're pretty sure that's just our charm. We're here to offer a different perspective on the things you see every day, moving away from the usual noise to bring a little more light, perspective, and an uplifting spirit into your routine. Life is plenty heavy as it is, so we're just here to help you find a reason to smile. Thanks for stopping by.
BruceWell, do you know what time it is?
SunnyI do, I do.
BruceWhat time is it, Sunny?
SunnyIt's time for a new episode.
BruceYou're exactly right. This is Bruce. And this is Sunny. And we are here with the ugly quacking duck podcast. And we're glad to have everybody aboard. We're glad to have you listening. We want to make everybody feel welcome, and we hope you stay for the whole episode.
SunnyYeah, we really do. We enjoy having you guys here, knowing you're a part of the show, and you're a part of our flock.
BruceYou really like saying that, don't you?
SunnyOh yeah.
BruceOkay, well, there you go. You've said it now. And I'm just gonna put this out there right now while we're starting, and I hope that you're not hearing a lot of that air conditioner in the background. You're probably gonna hear some of it. I've got the gate on, uh, and I've got the noise blanketer going, and it's still gonna come in between my words, so I'm sorry, but it's kind of warmed up today. Uh the beginning of the week was cooler.
SunnyYes, it was. It was wonderful.
BruceYes, it was wonderful, but it is right now 90 degrees here at our location. And where are we recording at, Sunny?
SunnyWe are recording in the studio Midwest Hideout, Southern Illinois.
BruceThere you go. You got that damn pat boy. I tell you, he did a good job. Yeah, we are in our normal location recording, and uh it's a little bit hot, and what we did last week was just shut the com the air conditioner off and then turn it back on when we got hot. Uh, we're just gonna let the let it run. See how bad it sounds once we get the recording done.
SunnyYou're playing it by hair. What?
BruceYeah, what why was you trying to say?
SunnyUh, never mind.
BruceUh, you could go for that again. But anyhow, uh, we are gonna pick up this episode right where we left off last time, uh, trying to finish it up. I didn't get it done last week. Uh, we were talking about the things that we could do should we do it. You remember that?
SunnyI remember you bored everybody to death.
BruceWell, maybe, maybe not, but we uh wanted to talk a little bit more about that because I had a couple more news clips recorded uh that I had found that I wanted to read to you that went right along with that uh comment about us taking uh the genes and all that and manipulating them when we probably shouldn't. And uh I had a couple more examples of that. Is that all right with you, Sunny?
SunnyYeah, that's all right, Bruce. I think it needs to be said, it's just like oh hum.
Tornado Warnings And Prayerful Thoughts
BruceOh hum. Let's talk about the weather for a second, okay?
SunnyYeah, we should. It is really bad today.
BruceYes, it is. Uh if you're in northern Illinois, uh the northern part of Missouri, Iowa, uh, Ohio, uh right now it is 5.39 p.m. on 61726 on Wednesday. And uh if you're in any of those areas, you are experiencing quite a bit of rain, heavy winds. Uh there is some tornado warnings out for Illinois, for Missouri. Alabama had one earlier. So we're praying for uh the Father's guidance and protection for you guys. Um by the time this recording hits the air, we're gonna try to get it out tonight. Uh the storm will probably through, and there's probably been two or three more since then, because they're planning on beating us up. Now, here in southern Illinois, we may miss it once again because it's going north of us. The uh the tornado line has seemed to move north uh this year. Now I don't know if it's gonna stay that way, but it's moved.
SunnyYes, it has. It's a weird weather time.
BruceYeah, it's just a weird time period.
SunnyYou can say that again.
BruceIt's a weird time period.
SunnyI didn't mean to say it.
BruceWell, you said if you say it, never mind.
SunnyYeah, never mind. Just gotta forget him, guys. He's just a little nuts.
BruceA little nuts, huh? Is that what you gotta do to describe me? Or is that how you're gonna describe me?
SunnyYeah. Hear that motorcycle?
BruceYes, I do.
SunnyI bet everybody else did too.
BruceProbably did. It was a little loud. But anyhow, that's our story and we're sticking to it.
SunnyWhat story?
BruceI don't know. Just sounded good.
A Quick Tour Of World Weather
BruceAlright, let's give a quick rundown of the local weather and the world weather while we're doing it.
SunnyAlright, I want to do Spokane, Washington.
BruceAlright. Sunny wants to do Spokane, so go for it, Sunny.
SunnyAlright, I'm going to. In Spokane, it is 1,559,000. Okay, so nobody's laughing.
BruceI did. Inside. I laughed aloud because you are copying something I always say, but I don't say it in that pretext. I say it in a very different way.
SunnyOh well, I tried. Alright, right now it is 71 degrees in where? Where are we at? That's not right. What the heck? Bruce, click on the right one. Okay, thank you. I don't know what he had, but it wasn't right. Okay, Spokane, Washington. It is 79 degrees right now, and it is the humidity is 21%, which is low. And it is uh wind's blowing from the southern from the southwest, 7 miles an hour. The air quality is 35, which is good. Visibility is 10. Air press uh hum Hello, I can't talk. The pressure is 29.82 inches and falling. There you go. UV index is four, it's moderate.
BruceAlright, thank you, Sunny. You had tu trouble getting all that out, didn't you?
SunnyWell, it kind of threw me off when it was reading the wrong city and it was reading the wrong stuff, and then when you got a fixed, I was really messed up.
BruceWell, that's understandable. It doesn't every now and then, and I don't know why, but you know something neat about this, I gotta tell you. I um when I logged in under our account for this um weather, it pulled up and it said the ugly quacking duck, Bruce and Sunny. How cool is that?
SunnyDidn't you put that in there?
BruceNo, I guess it got off the internet that, you know, we are Bruce and Sunny for our podcast, and that's what it logged us in as. Well, that's kind of cool. That's what I thought, see? You agree?
SunnyVery seldom.
BruceThat's true. All right, let's go on to uh one of the next ones, which is Phoenix, Arizona, and I'm gonna do Phoenix. And yeah, it pulled it up. Yay! All right, Phoenix, Arizona is under a dust advisory. Um it's 108, 108 degrees there. Ew, yuck. And the humidity's at 17%. It's low, but it's not as low as Spokane was. And the UV index is five, which is moderate. The pressure's still going down 29.59. The wind's blowing from the west-southwest 16 miles an hour, and the air quality is 35, visibility is 10.
SunnyOh, right. That one came out a lot better, didn't it, Bruce?
BruceWell, of course, I was doing it.
SunnyYeah, and your page didn't mess up like mine did.
BruceWell, that's true. That's very true. Okay, which one do you want to do now?
SunnyUh, I want to do Moscow.
BruceAll right, you're gonna do Russia, okay. Let me click on it, and there you go. It should be ready.
SunnyAll right, Moscow. It is 55 degrees right there right now. And humidity is 85%. Woo, they're high. Or if it's raining. It doesn't show it. Chance of rain, 3%. Well, the dew point is 51%. Kinda weird. Okay, back up to the UV index is zero. Very low, but I think it's nighttime there. Pressure is 29.77 going up. Air quality is 54, which is kinda uh. And visibility 6 miles an hour, and the my the wind is blowing from the southwest nine miles an hour.
BruceAll right, Sunny. You did a good job that time didn't get tongue-tied or anything. And you did Moscow. I'm gonna do Tokyo.
SunnyI I wanted to do Tokyo.
BruceToo bad I picked it first.
SunnyAll right, fine. Go ahead.
BruceYou almost sound honory and angry, but I know you're not. Okay. Tokyo right now is having a thunderstorm advisory. Um, it's 71 degrees. The humidity is 89%, very high. The UV index is one, which is low. The air press or the the barometer is twenty-nine point eighty eight and falling. Air quality is thirty, and visibility is only six miles, and the wind is coming out of the north, seven miles an hour. There you go, sunny.
SunnyI'm getting attacked by a cat.
BruceI seen that. That's Bobby, you know. Be nice to her. She's kind of an older cat.
SunnyAll right, if I have to. You did Tokyo. I want to do, let me see, there's only a couple left. Um I guess I'll do Beijing, China.
BruceAll right, Beijing, China it is. I clicked on it.
SunnyAll right. Beijing has a temperature of 76 degrees. It is uh 86% humidity, and it is one on the UV index. The bar ma barometric pressure is twenty-nine point seven seven. It's steady. Air quality is a hundred and ninety one nine zero. Yeah, you heard that right. Which is very unhealthy. Visibility is two point two miles. I bet it is with that much uh air quality is so high, it you they probably can't see straight in front of 'em. But anyhow, the wind is uh coming out of the east four miles an hour. There you go. That is a really terrible report.
BruceYeah, I feel sorry for some of those Chinese that's happening to deal with that kind of unhealthy air. It has to be rough on 'em. All right, you did China. I'm going to do the Australian Plains. There we go. So it's 48 degrees right now in the Australian Plains, and it is 70% humidity, which is kind of high. Uh UV index is zero. The pressure, the barometer pressure is 29.85 and rising. Visibility is 10 miles, air quality is 15, which is good, and the wind is blowing out of the northwest 12 miles an hour. What do you think about that?
SunnyI think that'd be a good place to live right now.
BruceYeah, it seems to be a very good place. All right. If anybody's paying attention, we have one place left.
SunnyYep, yep. And that is the town we're next to. It is Mount Vernon, Illinois.
BruceThere you go. Well, good one, Sunny. Tell us about Mount Vernon, our local town.
SunnyAll right, it is 84 degrees right now. Um, if you go by Bruce's uh temperature, it's 89. So I don't know where they're located their thermometer, but five degree difference. There you go. So I don't know. Yeah, humidity is 63%, it's kind of high. The UV index is one low, pressure is dropping 29.44, visibility is 10 miles, air quality is 45 and it's good, and the wind is south-southwest 22 miles an hour. And that is the report brought to you by the ugly quacking duck podcast. I'm Sunny.
BruceAnd I'm Bruce.
SunnyYay! Hey, that was fun. Give us a hand.
BruceAll right, here we go. All right, and like we said earlier while we're reporting that weird weather, uh Northern Illinois, Missouri, um Iowa, Alabama, uh all having bad weather right now, and some of those states are having tornado warnings. Northern Illinois' having a bunch up there by Decatur and Springfield, and it's not looking good. They predicted that, and I don't know if they m made it happen because they, you know, talked it into happening, but anyhow, we need to pray for them folks. But that's the local weather and not so local. What do you think about that?
SunnyI think it's fun reporting that and it gives people something to listen to and kind of look back on, especially if you live in one of those areas.
BruceYep, and if you don't and you want to hear your area, send us a text, you know, or voicemail. It's real easy. You can find our link on any of our podcast players that play our podcast, and they're almost all doing it. Just look it up, go to the definition or the description, and it'll be right there on top.
World Cup Check-In And Commentary Fun
BruceAlright, just a quick reminder don't forget the 2026 World Cup FIFA is going on right now and will be going on till what June the ninth July the 19th. So I hope you're catching some of the games, if not all of them. And even if you don't like soccer, catch one game anyway. Um there's been some pretty wild games. Um I'm not gonna talk about them. Don't want to bore everybody to death, but I've enjoyed getting to watch them this year.
SunnyYou mean you've enjoyed making all of us watch them?
BruceWell, no, I'm glad you watched them with me.
SunnyWell, okay. I hope you put it that way. I'm kind of glad to be there and here you go.
unknownGo.
BruceOh I'm not sure I did it that bad that long, um, that many times. That's what the the announcers do uh over and over and over again. I did it a couple times, so you happy?
SunnyI think you scared the cats to death the first time you did it.
BruceWell, I may have scared them a little bit. That was fun.
Movies That Warn About Gene Editing
BruceAlright, if everybody remember, if you didn't hear last week's episode, go back and listen to it. Uh it wasn't that long. But if you remember, I brought out seven movies, the titles, and asked you what they had in common, and then what we brought out was the fact that they all dealt with uh gene editing or manipulation or some kind of human modification, and uh the end result may have not been that good for the human race. And I didn't get to finish it, and I want to go back and finish that today. So there were seven movies, I'm gonna reread those movies. Um Human Nature, which was in 2019, Elysium, which was in 2013, Gattaca, nineteen ninety-seven, Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, 1982, Resident Evil 2002, Splice, 2009, and Island of Lost Souls, 1932.
SunnyMake sure you get that 32 in there.
BruceI think I did.
SunnyAlright, just making sure.
BruceAlright. And one of the articles I brought out was talking about editing human embryos. And it came out um that we are actually doing that. Um they actually did it according to the New York Times. Um they did it in an embryo. Now they just did one particular gene genome, but uh, you know, there begs the question, just because we can, should we, and what's gonna happen, you know, they do it now, forget about that they did it, and in thirty years from now, is that child gonna have problems, or is the children's children gonna have problems? Um I mean, it's just anyway, I don't want to get all into that, but I had a couple other articles I wanted to go over with you that delves into that same thing. All right, so there's a couple of different uh magazines or web pages that cover this. Um
Anti-Aging Gene Therapy Hits Human Trials
BruceI found it in Business Insider and also found it in Nature.com. And the article on Nature.com says the world first therapy to make cells young again trialed in a person. Yep, there you go. They're trying it in a person, which that person probably volunteered. So a participant in a landmark clinical trial has been given a cellular reprogramming treatment that aims to rejuvenate damaged cells in the eye. So it's not a major thing, they're trying to fix an eye. It's just the first step. Uh and the article goes on and talks about this the test time has arrived. The first person has been treated in a highly anticipated. gene therapy trial that seems to aim that aims to coax aged cells to take on a younger identity. Once again, that thing we want to live forever, no matter how we can do it. There you go. So the article takes on a lot more interest. If you're interested in this kind of stuff, go to nature.com and look up the world's first therapy to make cells young again trial in a person. Yeah. They are calling it um a shot that promises to reverse aging, first human test to rejuvenate, the world's first anti-aging gene therapy has been injected. I mean the articles go on and on and uh New York says longevity science is overhyped but this research really could there you go really could change humanity. Yeah it could could go bad could go good I don't know who's betting on which but that's a big bet. And that's not the only thing we've genetically modified. There's another article out there that talks about it's in the Washingtonmedicine dot com educational article.
Genetically Modified Hookworms And Ethics
BruceIt's called Genetically modified hookworms produce and deliver therapeutics say what? Yeah you heard me right genetically modified hookworms produce and deliver therapeutics. I believe a hookworm is a parasite an intestinal parasite so they're going in genetically modifying a parasite and then putting it back in somebody got that hookworms intestinal parasites that infect hundreds of millions of people in underresourced tropical regions around the globe have evolved to survive inside the human gut for years, secreting molecules that enable coexisting with their host now research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have harnessed that biological mechanism for potential human benefit engineering a hookworm to produce and deliver a drug within a living host so you really did say hookworm. I really did say a parasite that they've uh adapted to carry medicine. Yeah go back and read that article but this is another article that um is saying that we are messing with human nature again and maybe we're not directly messing with human nature with this one we're messing with uh parasites who are going to mess with human nature um there's been articles that I've brought out about flies that are being genetically modified so they won't reproduce mosquitoes were done a couple years ago I believe but we're seeing over and over and over again these articles of these doctors messing with genetics the genome of animals humans and then you know waiting to see what happens and I believe a lot of the diseases are definitely human modified diseases but they may have not started out trying to be a disease but they may have been a modification which they thought would help something and then it changed something else and then off to the races we go and then there are some where they're just downright trying to make sicknesses so they can make the cure so they can spend more money or we spend more money and they can take it and I know this is a conspiracy and if you don't like it don't listen to my podcast no more okay because this is all in the unknown universe and the things that could be true we don't want to say they are true do we? Oh good grief stop it all right anyhow we're having fun and this is a fiction all of it's fiction we just live by fiction and it's all a movie just a movie come and see the movie everybody Yeah anyhow that's uh the other article I had for everybody I didn't get to go over those two last week and I wanted to do it this week because they were very important to what they're doing uh I'd like to keep us up on that stuff if I can but if you have heard other things and would like to talk about it you know how to get hold of me you can send me an email at the uglyquacking duck at gmail dot com. You can go to my website the ugly quacking duck the uglyquacking duck dot com or you can send us a text uh or a video or not a video hello uh recording and it's real easy to do um you should be able to find it on our description page well I'm not gonna get in a big argument
Faith, Prayer, And Health Over Pills
Bruceabout this stuff and what I believe they are saying or doing I do want people to think about it and I know a lot of people believe that they are helping us out. They are bringing us medicine and treatments. I mean they really believe all that works for the better of us. And if you're one of those fine I'm not gonna argue with you but if you believe that I I want you to think about that there's a possibility that all this has been going on for years, I mean centuries and they just keep experimenting with the humans and the bugs and everything and they're creating more of a mess than they're fixing. And every time they create a new mess they have to create a new fix which is not really a fix. We all know you can't deny it that they don't cure anything. Nothing. Nothing has been cured for long time. They just mask the symptoms with more medication more drugs and that way you know you're just gonna develop another problem with those drugs. So that's my standing I'm not gonna get into it very much but I believe that we have left out the one thing that we should be doing and that is we need to take it spiritually to the one the Creator the Father however you want to put that think positively eat right exercise right. Now I'm not talking about getting out there and lifting thousand pounds a day but physically active is what I'm talking about. Those things will help us more than that pill we're taking I know when I had some major I mean major problems I had to go through therapy and uh they really didn't think I was going to walk again but I had prayers and I had people praying for me so I was able to to overcome that through faith and through um the Father. But there was a point in there when they didn't think I was going to walk and um I had to go to rehab to kind of work through not walking but doing better. And uh I went to my uh main doctor that was dealing with that problem and he said, you know, uh you can go to all those uh rehabs you want but the best thing you can do is go out there and start walking. Walk and walk and walk some more and uh he was right. That's my main thing I needed. Uh even if I couldn't walk very good if I would walk it would make a difference. Physical help and I'm just a regular old normal average dude that uh made it through all that through the grace of God but I'm gonna tell you there's m so many of us out there that has proven that faith, prayer, and positive living makes a difference. You gotta have all of it. You can't just go on a diet and expect it to work. You can't just exercise every day and expect it to work. You gotta have you know all of it but that's what we need to be doing. They don't teach most 90% of the doctors we go to today don't teach you healthy living don't teach you um good spiritual living I mean they've proven it helps your health just by praying just having confidence in the Father but you can take it or leave it whatever you want to do but they don't teach any of that they teach you to take these handful of pills every day and that will help you.
SunnyIt's not gonna cure you you're gonna have to take them for the rest of your life but it's gonna help Bruce stop before you you really get people upset and just stop.
BruceAlright I will do that Sunny I will just stop right now I just wanted to say that one thing um that we need to be concentrating on a little bit better healthy living not just for us for helping other people do that too we are here in a world that is very very um reliant on other people and we need to really figure this out quick before we damage each other and this world and there's no coming back.
Website Updates And Popular Episodes
BruceUm that's not the way we were taught not the way that anyway Yeah I know what you're trying to say Bruce all right okay there we go and that was the story for the day and I'm sticking to it and that was a weird weird ending to that I know all right let's shift gears and talk a little bit about the uglyquacking duck.com webpage I did a edit on the home page uh of that website and I want to tell you about it uh it I kind of shrunk it down a little bit so it didn't have as much talk on it and kind of you know I got to thinking well I was trying to hand feed people when they got on there and I thought nope uh most people is gonna know what to do so I just cut it down and left it to the bare basics but also added a most downloaded most popular episode on that front page and when you click on there and you scroll down it's gonna list for the week previously what the most downloaded episode is or was and uh me doing that may change it so they don't change as much as they used to. I don't know we'll have to wait and see but what I'm doing is taking you know for the week before it will tell me what episodes was downloaded and then it gives me a total for that episode. So I'm taking that download and adding it to that total of that episode and if it's the highest one of the list that's what I'll put on there. Kind of a you know something fun so in other words if there's something out there that you guys are listening to it's gonna bring it up there on the list more often or um higher on the list and it's gonna bring it out and you're gonna see your the results of you listening so look for that and I added a picture to kind of represent that episode and you can either click on the link inside the sentence where it says you know this episode was the the most downloaded episode for last week or you can um click on the picture which represents that and it'll take you to my Buzz Sprout hosting page of that episode and you can listen to it right there once again. Now you may have already listened to it that we last week and that's why the numbers are up you may not want to listen to it again but if that's the case don't don't do that go to the go scroll down just a little bit more and we have an episode that is not as popular not been downloaded as much we've kind of highlighted that one and you can just click on that link where it's talking about it gives the title just click on that and it will take you and you'll get to hear one that was not as downloaded. Doesn't mean it isn't as good it's just not been as downloaded as much it may not be as new. So we're doing both of those. Now if you haven't heard either one of those it gives you an opportunity to hear some previous episodes we're not going to play any of the new ones unless they go crazy which most times they don't so that'll give them you know a few weeks or months to get up there. But if they're out there and you know been out there a year and then all of a sudden somebody's downloading them and they show up on the list that's probably what's going to be put on the list next time around so we hope you get a chance to enjoy that it's just another extra feature and again most generally if you subscribe to that web page if we do any posts you will see those right to your email address and also most generally this one won't be the this will be an exception but most generally when we do a new episode uh we post it there on our post page first and then usually 24 hours it comes out on our hosting page uh and it's public published for everybody to hear so you get to hear it first most generally now this episode I'm just gonna make sure it gets put out tonight uh I don't know what time so it'll probably go out the same time on the web page as it does on the hosting page but most generally it doesn't do that. But I wanted to get it out because the 17th tomorrow's the 18th and my month starts all over and I wanted to get something out before that. That makes sense why did you do that?
SunnyI just thought you needed a little extra noise because you was making a whole lot of uh are you saying I'm boring no I wouldn't say that whatsoever Okay you know what I did last time he was giving me a hard time yeah you shut my microphone off yeah that was fun well if you look I'm sitting right over the buttons Yeah I know you are that's how you hit that button before I got to it all right so uh is this war? No, we're just having fun.
BruceAlright well you're right we don't get mad at each other very often do we're glad.
Grateful Banter And A Dad Joke

BruceUh how do you fix a broken tomato? Uh I want to say with duct tape.
SunnyNo, we can't tape a tomato.
BruceAlright, then how do you tape no, how do you fix tomato?
SunnyWith a tomato tomato.
BruceYou messed it up.
SunnyI didn't. Alright, let me come out again. How do you fix a broken tomato?
BruceI don't know. How do you fix a broken tomato?
SunnyWith tomato paste, of course.
BruceWell, yeah, no, you got to m push the last button. I wanted to push something.
SunnyAlright, there you go. We did a joke, and you got to push the button.
BruceYeah, and it wasn't too bad a joke. You know, whoever thought about tomato paste.
SunnyHa ha ha ha. Alright, Bruce. One last thing we gotta do.
BruceYeah, and I know what it is.
SunnyAlright, we're gonna do the earthquake, folks.
Seven-Day Earthquake Numbers And Hotspots
BruceYeah, we gotta do the seven-day earthquake report right now. So because uh my schedule has changed, and I've talked about this before, and I seem to be working more weekends, and I'm off during the week, uh, which either here or there, I'm not complaining. I'm just stating the fact that I used to do my seven-day report every Friday, and I've tried to go back here lately when I did a episode recording, it usually happened in the middle of the week, and I went back on that Friday and tried to do the seven-day report, and I'm just double doing it when I do that. So um I thought until my schedule changes, seems like every middle of the week I'm off, and I do the episode in the middle of the week, so I'm going to do the seven-day report from the middle of the week back from now on until I either change jobs or just totally uh leave uh the working class.
SunnyYou'll never do that, Bruce.
BruceWell, probably not. I've gotta have something to keep me busy.
SunnyWell, we've got the podcast, Bruce.
BruceVery true. Um, but I can't just sit here and uh research and then put stuff on a recording. I gotta have some physical, you know.
SunnyAlright. Well, we'll see how it plays out.
BruceYeah, we'll just see. But right now I'm working part-time at this other place, so it's requiring me to go in on the weekends. I call, I tell everybody I'm their weekend warrior. So as of right now, I'm no longer doing full-time there, which everybody's followed me has heard this already. Um, but um, instead of doing the Friday as a seven-day report every week, I want to just do it in the middle of the week so it works out for me. It shouldn't change the numbers uh once I switch, and I did that last week. So I went from um I went back seven days on 10 on the 10th, 6th, June the 10th. So I'm just gonna go back from here, which is the 17th, back to the 10th, which will be seven days back. There you go. Made it easy. All right, are you ready?
SunnyI'm ready. Quit blabbing.
BruceThat's what we do.
SunnyYou got me there. Okay, well, let's go on with the show.
BruceAll right, I thought we'd done that. All right, we are at um a seven-day report now. And don't forget, there were some high numbers last week, a 7.8 in the Philippines. It was a major catastrophe. Uh this week we have, are you ready, 2,387 earthquakes all magnitude. And then we have 414 earthquakes, uh 2.5 and over earthquakes, and then 119 4.5 earthquakes. So our numbers on the um main, well, they're a little bit low on the 6.0 and above, so maybe that's a good thing. We did have four 6.0s. Haha. Go figure. So starting out 6.2, which was in the Philippines again. Um, then it went up to Indonesia, which was 6.7, and then a 6.3 in China, um, just south-southeast of Dun Hong, China. I think I said that right. And then last but not least, uh, just the other day we had a 6.6 in the central mid-Atlantic ridge area. So there you go. China's having some earthquakes now, which I don't know if they're uh very uh many of those, if it's a popular thing or just sporadic, but we'll keep an eye on it. But once again, we need to keep our prayers, and if you don't believe in prayer, your thoughtful, courteous, positive thoughts towards these people and any of these storm victims, just straight towards the storm. Let's put that storm out, let's make it not be as strong. You can do it. And you probably won't hear this till it's after it's over with, but for the next one. Uh-oh, I'm getting some weird noise.
SunnyUh, I think you are the weird noise.
BruceUh no, really, man. I was hearing some uh noise, um I don't know, uh sound like a wire uh shorting or something, you know, like a speaker wire barely connected. But all my wires, I don't know, kind of weird. If I come across the recording, I won't know it till I go to edit it. And if you hear it when I play it, uh I apologize. I got something something going wrong. Let me try that again. I hit the desk, it doesn't do it.
SunnyIt's probably you hit your head and it'll probably do it.
BruceTouche. Well, there you go. That was the earthquakes for this last seven days, and hopefully they will stay at a minimum.
SunnyI hope so. I hate having all these bad news.
BruceUh yeah, I do too. I tell you what, it sure is getting dark out there.
SunnyYeah, the wind's kind of laying low, so that's kind of scary.
BruceYeah, the wind's been blowing. It was sunny and hot all day. I went out and mowed, and the tree limbs were blowing off as fast as I could pick them up off that one tree. But I got the yard mowed. I didn't get it trimmed, didn't get the ditch done, but I got the yard mowed. And uh I thought, man, this is a lot of wind. You know, you turn the lawnmower one direction, and the wind just blow it right back in your face. Uh 40 miles an hour, I think, is what they were saying. And now it's it's blowing, but not very much. Kind of strange. Well, what do you say, uh, Sunny, we turn it over to Capella?
SunnyThat sounds like a good move.

Jeep Ducking Idea With A QR Code
BruceI get a kick out of that uh uh part of the uh recording.
SunnyAnd why is that word?
BruceWell, um, it's talking about the ducks, and I think that's funny because um Shannon has a Jeep that she has purchased here uh at the beginning of spring, and she's really enjoying ducking other jeeps. And if you don't know what that is, I'm sorry, you're gonna have to go look. But she is getting a kick out of that. She took the granddaughter to town the other day, and they got a kick out of doing a couple jeeps, and I think it's good, and it's clean, healthy, fun, and it's positive motivation for everybody involved, so it's pretty cool. But when I think about uh spending it all on ducks, I think about her, and she would love something like that. Just in fact, I've thought about creating an extra page on our website and dedicating it to her Jeep ducking, because it kind of goes along with the ugly quacking duck. And if you know she wants, she can take pictures of you know her putting the Jeeps, the ducks on the Jeeps. Not the whole Jeep picture of the Jeep, just on the handle or something. Just uh, you know, kind of give her um a little bit of extra fun and give me some fun. And I thought about putting a um QR code on the bottom of the ducks so it would take them to our podcast if they looked it up. So, you know, I'd get a little bit of benefit out of it, and she gets some uh recording out of it uh to put the fun parts that she has. Anyway, I just thought it'd be kind of neat. I may do that.
SunnyYou're always trying to find something neat to do, it's just more work.
BruceWell, I think we'd leave that up to her. I just post them.
SunnyUh yeah, okay. I see. So, all right, let's say bye.
Farewell
BruceI agree. Let's say bye. Are you ready?
SunnyI am ready.
