Welcome back to the Transform Your Mind, to Transform Your Life, the podcast. This is Life Coach Marnie Young, and you are listening to Five Minute Fridays with Coach Marina. Today I want to teach on the topic made famous by Kanye West's mother. And the topic is a giant looks in the mirror and sees nothing. Such a powerful statement. So months ago, I watched the Kanye West documentary on Netflix. And I was so blown away by Kanye West's mother, Donna. So let me give you the background story. Kanye West grew up poor in Chicago and started rapping at a young age. He started producing beats in his teens and created beats for legends like Jay-Z and others. But his vision was to be a rapper, but nobody would give him a record deal as a rapper because he was labeled as a producer. How do you know sometimes labels are not good? His mother, Donna, kept speaking to his confidence. She kept building him up by telling him that he was great. She told him once, if you're a giant, you can't see yourself when you look in the mirror. What a powerful way to build confidence in your child. This was so powerful that Kanye used that as fuel to keep pushing. And he finally got that record deal with Rockefeller Records. But he still had to push to get his first album released. And because he was so great, and because he knew he was great and he kept working and working and working, the album was an immediate hit, topping the charts at number one. And he was nominated for 10 Grammys. Can you believe that? 10 Grammys on your first try. That's because he was he has been cooking it for such a long time. He kept going because he knew he was great, and all he wanted to do was get that first break. Kanye West is now on his way to becoming the richest black man in America. And he has to credit it all to his mother for speaking life into him. It was such a beautiful thing. You know, his confidence was stroked by his mother, Donda. She told him that he was a genius and as a giant, and he started walking and talking like a giant. His brain became too big for his head. That was his explanation for his battle with mental illness. Because you know, geniuses, you know, there's got too much stuff in there, and that's true. So um, so that's where it's at right now. He's still a genius, he's still working every day, he's still building, he's still doing great things. He, you know, he's gone from music to he went to makeup, and he's got shoes and he's got clothing, and he is just building, and he definitely is a giant. So his mom was right, you know. Prophecient, speaking it into existence. That's what prophecy is: speaking things that you haven't seen yet, and sooner or later it's gonna come into existence. Self-confidence is looking at yourself and knowing that you are crushing it. Whatever it is, but if you lack self-confidence when you look in the mirror and you see nothing, there is no reflection of beauty. You see failure to see you see your flaws, you see that you are not enough. What Danda was saying to Kanye was that he was so great that he couldn't comprehend, that he couldn't see it when he looked in the mirror. Because when a giant looks in the mirror, he sees nothing. It's still so beautiful. All right, that is the most powerful builder of self-confidence I have ever heard. Because from then on, this is what happened. Whenever Kanye West doubted himself and he looked in the mirror and he saw nothing, he would think to himself, oh, but I'm a giant. That's why I can't see nothing. I'm like bigger than this mirror. Right. And he would remember his mother's words that he couldn't see his greatness because he was bigger than the mirror. We are all limitless, we can become anything we want, but what holds us back is feeling small when we look in the mirror. What holds us back is self-doubt. If you believe you can fly, you can't physically fly, but you can get to the top. It only takes confidence, it only takes belief, it only takes fate. And you can look at any of these Rack to Rich's stories, and you will see it right there. The people of Israel, I just did a series or uh an episode on this. The people of Israel saw themselves as grasshoppers, they saw themselves small and insignificant. That's what they saw when they looked in the mirror. So remember Danda's words. A giant looks in the mirror and sees nothing. So keep pushing until the mirror catches up. All right, don't ever stoop down to meet the mirror. The mirror will catch up to your greatness. Parents, remember to speak life into your children. The movie Richard, um, King Richard depicted this beautifully with Richard Williams. He spoke into Venus and Serena's lives. He told them that they will become the best in the game of tennis. He told them that they were future champions and they would win Wilbenton. And they believed it and came into agreement. Serena Williams did become the greatest in the game of tennis. I do the same thing. I speak into my children's lives all the time. I build them up. And sometimes they come in agreement, and sometimes they say, but you're my mom. So you have the right to say these nice things. But guess what? Remember the movie Inception? All you gotta do is plant the seed. And when the time comes, that seed will become a force. Don't worry if your kids are not paying any attention to you and saying you're just saying that stuff because you're mom. The seed is planted. The seed is planted. So keep speaking life into your children, speaking life into your spouse. Women, don't tear down your man, build them up, speak life into them, encourage them. Also, speak life to yourself, encourage yourself. You know, don't ever think that you're not enough, right? You gotta encourage yourself. You gotta say, I'm gonna be the best, I'm gonna be the champion, I am going to succeed at this business. My children are gonna go to college. You speak life into everything you want. And guess what? It has a way of becoming self-fulfilling prophecies. So whenever you look into the mirror and you see nothing, you tell yourself it's because you're a giant. Everyone else sees that you're a giant, but you just can't see it. Because when you look in the mirror, if you're a giant, you see nothing.
