Trader Joe's Grower's Reserve Organic Red 2024

I am always amazed at how cheap wine can be in 2026.

CWF started in 2008, and 6 Buck wines were a horror show.

Today, going cheap is painless.

Value-priced wine drinkers rejoice!

Hey, welcome. It's Domain Dave here, uh cheapwinefinder.com again doing another uh value price wine review, and this one's real cheap. It's sometimes I say no, we don't do cheap wines, we do inexpensive good wines, but this one's cheap. Um, though it's still good. It's the uh$5.99 of all things. Trader Joe's Growers Reserve Organic Red 2024. It's from California. ASV is the uh winery who makes it, they're out of Monterey, they're uh uh they grow organic. Um it's they're certified organic grapes. I think to make the wine, there's another step to be a completely certified organic wine, but this one has organic grapes. Now, um, while it could be from ASV's vineyards, it does not say that. Um actually the label is kind of vague on any of those things, but when you have all organic grapes, there's only so many places you can get it from, though there are in Monterey and in the Central Coast and other places. Organic grapes. So oops, there we go. I'm gonna take a sip. I found a post on Facebook of all places saying that the um the grapes here are 83% Cabernet and 17% Merlot. It's a kind of a Bordeaux uh$5.99 Bordeaux blend. And I was a little surprised by that because Cabernet Sauvignon red grapes are some of the most expensive grapes to get, and here they are, organic. And the thing about organic is to turn your vineyard into organic in California takes a lot. You have to basically change the entire ecosphere. You have to bring in um plants that bring in the bugs that kill the pests that feed on grapes. You have to you have to really change out the soil so that you don't need to put fertilizers in there. You have to do a lot of work and a lot of time, and no one does it for a bad vineyard. So once you see it's organic grapes, to that point, the grapes are going to be quality because you just don't do that. Now, a bad vineyard, a bad uh vintage could happen, but these uh Trader Joe's uh growers reserve wines keep on coming back every year, so that kind of takes the bad vintages out of the equation a little bit. So you're getting for$5.99 a wine with because they're organic, and you don't, like I said, you don't do a bad vineyard, a bad situation, and go through the process of getting it organic certified. And the grapes are organic certified, unless they're good grapes. It's just one plus one equals two on this. I won't take another sip. That's the other thing about this. Well, it's not the most complex, and it's not the most um, you know, it's not them, you know, it's not the most um, let me just take the sip and I'll tell you what it's not the most of. No, it's actually kind of satisfying. It has this um you get this blackberry, you get licorice, and then you get like um dried strawberry, and you get this like a little bit of cassis in there, like um just more kind of a liquidy thing going on. Not bad for a$5.99 wine, even if you know, I I think it's Cabinet 70, I think it's Merlot. The Facebook posts seem to think seem to be from somebody who worked at Trader Joe's or something about it. But they and you know, and for these growers reserved, I really like the Savion Blanc and a couple of the other ones, they have a full line. So I don't know what to say. I mean, I'm always surprised.$5.99. Now you could probably find a wine for$10 you like better. But if you ever get to a point where money is really an issue, and good is good, it doesn't matter what the price is. I mean, if you're just gonna sit down and uh you know the neighbors coming over, you're gonna pull out a wine, you might want to go a little bit more upscale than this one. This is Tuesday night. This is uh, you know, you got uh you're watching that HBO uh Game of Thrones spin-off again, and you you want you pop a bottle or two of you can just have some fun. This is fine, it's perfectly fine. That's uh another thing is it's 12.74 in the alcohol nowadays Cabinet Seven Yangs or 14.5 and above just heat. This one is really low. This is um old school alcohol content. Which I don't know what to say about that, but it tastes good. I mean, I was expecting okay, this is not going to be ripe enough, it's you know, something, and I didn't get that. So there you go.$5.99 wine, organic wine, cabernet Savillon Merlot, supposedly. The the bottle doesn't say that, and Trader Joe's doesn't say it, but Facebook does, so you have to believe it. I'll say that this is a wine that shouldn't be this good, and like again, like I'm saying, it's I I it's not my most uh it's not my go-to one, but it for$5.99, it just might be. So there you go, adios, keep it cheap. I got uh this is the uh domain day from cheapwinefinder.com, Trader Joe's Grower Reserve Organic Red 2024. It's good for$5.99, and good is good. So adios, keep it cheap. I'll talk to you later. Bye bye.
