Episode 4: Detention Centre Truths (Alison Battisson)
Alison Battisson is the founder of Human Rights for All (hr4a), an Australian pro-bono human rights law firm, dedicated to assisting asylum seekers, refugees and the stateless in their fight for freedom and liberty.
She is one of Australia's top immigration lawyers, and in 2020 she managed to have the law changed for people in detention using an ancient writ of habeas corpus. This legal change will impact thousands of people. She is also a lecturer and panelist, who can speak authoritatively on a wide range of issues related to arbitrary detention, stateless persons, and the ongoing punitive policies towards such people.
