In this episode, recorded from an INSOL ERA Reading Group, Prof. Jared Ellias, Harvard Law School, and Dr. Narine Lalafaryan, University of Cambridge, talk about their paper "The Global Law of Debt".

The paper argues that corporate borrowing and restructuring are no longer governed primarily by any single national legal system, but by a transnational “global law of debt”, forged through the entanglement of New York and London markets. It offers the first historically grounded account of this system, reframing debt finance and insolvency as products of global professional ecosystems rather than state-centric lawmaking.
