There was this"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":163.36,"endTime":166.9,"body":"kind of mythos that it was easy"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":163.36,"endTime":166.9,"body":"to understand if you were just"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":166.9,"endTime":170.56,"body":"really faithful, and if you"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":166.9,"endTime":170.56,"body":"were, then you would come to the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":170.56,"endTime":173.62,"body":"same conclusion as the preacher"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":170.56,"endTime":173.62,"body":"that we had, or the kind of"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":173.62,"endTime":176.8,"body":"dominant circles that we ran in."},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":173.62,"endTime":176.8,"body":"So the Bible was certainly"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":176.8,"endTime":181.38,"body":"presented as univocal about"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":176.8,"endTime":181.38,"body":"everything, and really just kind"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":181.38,"endTime":186.66,"body":"of one big unified word from God"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":181.38,"endTime":186.66,"body":"directly to us. But then I think"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":186.66,"endTime":190.26,"body":"I started to experience the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":186.66,"endTime":190.26,"body":"Bible in ways that were"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":190.26,"endTime":193.32,"body":"confusing. I remember the first"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":190.26,"endTime":193.32,"body":"time, one of the first times"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":193.32,"endTime":195.96,"body":"this happened, or one of the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":193.32,"endTime":195.96,"body":"most vivid times I was in a"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":195.96,"endTime":199.8,"body":"youth group in sixth or seventh"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":195.96,"endTime":199.8,"body":"grade middle school ministry,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":199.8,"endTime":203.84,"body":"and it was Easter time, and I"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":199.8,"endTime":203.84,"body":"remember the pastor was talking"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":203.84,"endTime":206.9,"body":"about how Jesus was on the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":203.84,"endTime":206.9,"body":"cross, and when Jesus was on the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":206.9,"endTime":211.82,"body":"cross, that God turned away from"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":206.9,"endTime":211.82,"body":"Jesus, because Jesus had all of"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":211.82,"endTime":215.54,"body":"our sin on him, and God can't be"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":211.82,"endTime":215.54,"body":"around sin. And so God kind of"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":215.54,"endTime":219.92,"body":"abandoned Jesus, and there on"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":215.54,"endTime":219.92,"body":"the cross. And I remember the"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":219.92,"endTime":225.52,"body":"week before, we had had a lesson"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":219.92,"endTime":225.52,"body":"on how God was a good father"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":225.58,"endTime":228.28,"body":"that really like the greatest"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":225.58,"endTime":228.28,"body":"father that ever lived. And I"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":228.28,"endTime":233.14,"body":"remember thinking, that's not"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":228.28,"endTime":233.14,"body":"what a good father does. A good"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":233.14,"endTime":237.16,"body":"father doesn't abandon his son"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":233.14,"endTime":237.16,"body":"in the, you know, worst moment"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":237.16,"endTime":241.02,"body":"possible. And then also, you"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":237.16,"endTime":241.02,"body":"know, we'd had, I had heard"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":241.02,"endTime":245.16,"body":"myriad sermons about how God"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":241.02,"endTime":245.16,"body":"wanted to be close to me and I"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":245.16,"endTime":248.4,"body":"wanted to be I should want to be"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":245.16,"endTime":248.4,"body":"close to God. But then if God"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":248.4,"endTime":253.2,"body":"couldn't be around Jesus because"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":248.4,"endTime":253.2,"body":"of my or our sin, and I still"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":253.2,"endTime":257.4,"body":"had that same kind of sin in me,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":253.2,"endTime":257.4,"body":"or I chose sin sometimes, then"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":257.64,"endTime":260.9,"body":"does God actually want to be"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":257.64,"endTime":260.9,"body":"around me? And I really began to"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":260.9,"endTime":265.4,"body":"have some struggles with how I"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":260.9,"endTime":265.4,"body":"understood scripture. You're"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":282.34,"endTime":285.52,"body":"saying, Man, that doesn't really"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":282.34,"endTime":285.52,"body":"make sense, and you're having"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":285.52,"endTime":288.58,"body":"these questions and moving into"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":285.52,"endTime":288.58,"body":"some gray areas. What did that"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":288.58,"endTime":292.54,"body":"start to look like for you? What"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":288.58,"endTime":292.54,"body":"was a transition of having a"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":292.54,"endTime":295.24,"body":"broader understanding of the"},{"speaker":"Joshua Johnson","startTime":292.54,"endTime":295.24,"body":"Bible? Well,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":295.42,"endTime":298.24,"body":"it certainly"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":295.42,"endTime":298.24,"body":"wasn't linear. The I actually"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":298.24,"endTime":300.78,"body":"tell the story in the book I"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":298.24,"endTime":300.78,"body":"ended. Getting kicked out of"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":300.78,"endTime":304.56,"body":"that youth group because I just"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":300.78,"endTime":304.56,"body":"kept asking these questions that"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":304.56,"endTime":307.74,"body":"were deemed unacceptable around"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":304.56,"endTime":307.74,"body":"the inconsistencies that I saw"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":307.74,"endTime":310.44,"body":"or the the picture I had of God"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":307.74,"endTime":310.44,"body":"that seemed to be really"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":310.44,"endTime":314.16,"body":"different than what had been"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":310.44,"endTime":314.16,"body":"told to me. So yeah, they, like"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":314.16,"endTime":317.52,"body":"my youth pastor, pulled my"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":314.16,"endTime":317.52,"body":"parents aside and said, Your son"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":317.52,"endTime":320.36,"body":"is disrupting my Bible studies"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":317.52,"endTime":320.36,"body":"and causing the other kids to"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":320.36,"endTime":324.02,"body":"doubt their faith, and he can't"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":320.36,"endTime":324.02,"body":"come back anymore. And so at"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":324.02,"endTime":328.22,"body":"that point, I really put"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":324.02,"endTime":328.22,"body":"Christianity in the Bible away."},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":328.34,"endTime":331.52,"body":"I mean, I didn't engage with"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":328.34,"endTime":331.52,"body":"them at all. I was I was pretty"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":331.52,"endTime":335.18,"body":"much done, and part of me was"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":331.52,"endTime":335.18,"body":"glad because I wasn't. I didn't"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":335.18,"endTime":338.66,"body":"like love church. My parents"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":335.18,"endTime":338.66,"body":"made me go. But then part of me,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":338.66,"endTime":342.4,"body":"that I think I would discover"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":338.66,"endTime":342.4,"body":"much later is that I was pretty"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":342.4,"endTime":345.1,"body":"devastated, because there was my"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":342.4,"endTime":345.1,"body":"parents were in ministry."},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":345.16,"endTime":348.58,"body":"Everybody we knew was Christian,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":345.16,"endTime":348.58,"body":"this thing that was the most"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":348.58,"endTime":351.82,"body":"important thing for, like,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":348.58,"endTime":351.82,"body":"basically my entire community"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":352.18,"endTime":355.84,"body":"now was something that I didn't"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":352.18,"endTime":355.84,"body":"fit in, and it was caused a lot"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":355.84,"endTime":359.68,"body":"of dissonance. It's a"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":2295.5,"endTime":2298.88,"body":"much more kind of intellectual"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":2295.5,"endTime":2298.88,"body":"engagement, whereas with Mary,"},{"speaker":"Zach Lambert","startTime":2298.88,"endTime":2302.36,"body":"it was much more emotional.
