God sows good seeds into our hearts, and the enemy tries to plant weeds. It’s our responsibility to cultivate the soil of our hearts and to discern what we allow to take root.
WE MUST STAY AWAKE IN THREE AREAS:
INFLUENCES Not everyone who loves us can be our teacher. Just because someone has a good heart does not mean they’re offering wise counsel.
INTERMISSIONS Scrolling, watching, and listening can leave our minds open for the enemy to plant bad seeds. So we fill our intermissions wisely.
INJURIES The enemy tries his hardest to lie to us when we're hurt. He twists facts and events to fit his false narratives. So we guard our hearts against weeds in the areas we’ve been hurt.
Above all, we follow Jesus' example. He stayed awake to the influences, intermissions, and injuries in his life and kept his heart receptive to the Father and closed off to the enemy.
May we cultivate good soil within ourselves, tending to our hearts with honesty, humility, and openness. And may the true seeds God plants grow in our hearts, bearing fruit for his kingdom.
